Best burger I've ever had! Jalapeños, bacon and cheddar. Cooked to temperature of medium rare perfectly.

I enjoyed my dinner at Avery’s Maryland Grille. We ordered Maryland crabs for the main course, and they were delicious. Service was great too. One thing to keep in mind is that this place appears to be very popular and busy. They do not take reservations, but you can - and definitely should - register in the waiting line on their website. You’ll be able to see how many people are ahead of you and time your arrival accordingly. So why 4 stars? It’s the atmosphere, which was ok. There’s no view; it’s definitely not the “fine dining” but a more casual place. I’ve been to crab places in Annapolis, and compared to those 5 stars would not be justified. But Annapolis is a pretty long drive away from Frederick, so here’s your trade off.

Disappointed. Ordered pickup. I was really excited to treat myself to seafood only to have everything be completely flavorless and under seasoned. The cream of crab soup tasted like absolutely nothing. Not even cream. Small pieces of crab. The scallops tasted harshly of something gross, couldn’t put a finger on what exactly it was that made them taste so bad. The shrimp had no old bay I mean none as in a teaspoon or so they looked like regular shrimp. Some of the shrimp were mushy and went in the trash. The rockfish bites were inedible and also not of good taste. The only redeeming part of the meal was the side order of bread which was really more like pizza crusts, which when I order bread isn’t exactly what I’m looking for…

From the moment we stepped inside we should’ve known to just walk away. The overwhelming old fish smell was horrible and the atmosphere was not much better. This was our first visit and we had friends recommend them. We all ordered water to drink, tasted like they got it out of the fish tanks. We ordered the crab dip and rockfish for appetizers. Crab did was fine, they only brought out a couple pieces of bread and some old celery to dip with, we asked for bread that came out long after our meals and found out they charged us .50 cents for it. We ordered crab cake meal(all filler) chicken Chesapeake(dry chicken, even with the “imperial sauce” that the waitress had no clue what is was) ribeye and crab legs(not fresh and over charred steak) and all you can eat option A, for the AYCE they brought out crabs, fries, corn and hush puppies. No wayermelon, soup or cornbread. When we were finally able to ask for those our waitress said her boss tells them not to bring out the “main” food with that until we ask. Crabs are the main, the others are sides. Watermelon tastes frozen, soup from a can, mac and cheese pre made, onion rings all filler. Seafood was not fresh and severely overcooked. Service was terrible. We will never come back. I’m not sure if we just had a bad experience but I know we won’t give them a second chance.

I was given a cold jumbo crab (large), sent it back and asked them not to send me back the same cold burnt crab that was given. Lo and behold they sent back the same crab smelling like ammonia with more old bay on it and had the audacity to question me if it was the same crab. I worked at a Crab House for many years and I know that crab sent to me was from the bottom of the barrel and reheating it does not make it better. I’ll continue to go to Bethesda Crab House knowing they have great crabs and caring service.

My food was completely cooked too long. Burnt and the corn was dry and old. Onion rings were fair but overall I would not go there again. Too much of a bar atmosphere for me.

It was soooo good. Went there after I had a horrible experience at another restaurant. This really made me completely forget about that. From the welcoming and attentive service to the delicious food. I already have plan to go back next week :D
