Great food, good service!

To start, I had the Chicken Nachos loaded with chicken, jalapeños, tomatoes, and cheese. I requested the salsa on top instead of on the side, and they had no problem making that adjustment. The nachos came out hot, flavorful, and exactly how I wanted them. Next up, the Chesapeake Wings were a standout crispy just like I asked, perfectly tossed in Old Bay seasoning, and paired with fresh celery and their house-made ranch. Simple, but done really well. For my main, I went with the Filet Mignon, topped with garlic herb butter and served with a baked potato (loaded with butter and sour cream). The steak was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth definitely a great choice if you’re in the mood for something hearty. I sipped on an iced tea and a Shirley Temple during the meal and skipped dessert (but I’ll definitely be back to try one next time). Service was attentive, and I appreciated how they accommodated my special requests without hesitation. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Took my mom here for dinner on a recent trip to the area. The waiter was absolutely top notch!! The crab imperial was out of this world as was the crab dip! We will definitely be repeat business when we come back up to the area. Thank you for a great experience!

Great atmosphere. It's a little out of the way from the heart of downtown but worth the trip. Good food, good service, good priceing.

This restaurant is right around the corner from me so I go often. The food is excellent all around! Special call outs for the filet, shrimp linguini, crab imperial, lobster roll, fish and chips, BLT, Jose wings, crab dip and smash burger. Meat is locally sourced and seafood is fresh! I’ve tried most of the menu and there’s not an item I wouldn’t get again. Items are reasonably priced (I can eat there for less than $25) and portions large. The service is on point! Friendly, attentive, they care about your experience! The dining area decor is nice, the atmosphere is cozy, the seating is comfortable and you aren’t rush out. The drinks are also good and there’s a full bar in the back of the restaurant if you want to linger after lunch/dinner. Bartenders are great! Another bonus is the kitchen is open until 11:00 on the weekends and if you like karaoke they have it every Friday and Saturday nights until 2 AM!

I've been eating at Callahans for the last 15 years. It's always part of a Saturday date! The staff were amazing as always. It is such a disappointment that the menu items that made this such an amazing and special place have been changed or removed.
I couldnt even find anything on the menu to order, I definitely dont think removing the crab skins and crab delight sandwiches is a good idea. The cream of crab soup made my husband and I both sick, we had to end our date day early, then we just read a review that someone else was queezy after eating it. Bring back those old recipes and menu items! Your customers, new and old, love the old Callahans menu more!!!

On Mother's Day I treated my son, his wife and two boys 14 and 9 to lunch - this restaurant is 10 minutes from their home. We were seated right away with our reservation at a circular table which we prefer. Drink service was fast, by Suze, who has a sparkling personality! Our crab dip and cream of crab soups came soon, both perfectly scrumptious. The main courses were superior in flavor and presentation: scallops and fingerling potatoes, filet and crab combination, a lovely chicken dish, plus Smash burgers for the boys. The 14-year old said he loved every bite.

We were also tended to constantly by Jacob, also very personable. We sent regards to the chef and the owner came to the table to thank us. We really enjoyed our experience: the seating, the new decor, the meals, service and ambiance.

One should expect to pay a healthy price for excellent food, so I didn't blink at the bill, which I covered - it adds up to a memorable family experience.

Parking was easy and noise level inside was perfect. Best dining experience any of us have had for a while. We'll definitely go back!

Everything from the food to the staff was fantastic! My Filet Oscar was beyond scrumptious. The staff was amazing and many of them stopped by to say hi to my boys. Sue our server was fantastic and really personable. All the staff were so kind and really made the visit so special. Our 2 sons are still talking about how great their meals were and how much fun they had. Can't wait for our next visit!

Last night my mom and I along with two of our good friends decided it would be a good night to try the supposedly new and improved Callahan's! We typically had good experiences eating there in the past and were anticipating what differences we would find, hoping to be positive ones. Little did we know that it would turn into a disappointing experience! My disappointment was mostly related to the quality of the service, although we experienced some food related disappointments as well, big one being the change of the recipe of the cream of crab soup, which used to be my friends favorite there and which she was extremely dissatisfied with this visit! Our server started out being somewhat attentive, took our order and then became less attentive. When our food came out, which took awhile and there was only one other table in the restaurant at that time, only three of our meals came out. After about 10 minutes we wondered where the fourth meal was and when we questioned the server, she was kind of short with us and said they were still working on it. In the meantime the only other table in the restaurant, which came in after we ordered had already gotten their food! Finally after a total of about 20 minutes my mom's crab cake sandwich finally came out and the rest of us were just about done with our meals! When I told the server we were unhappy with the situation and I would like to speak with the manager she told me there was no manager there on Sundays and they would not be there til Friday. She also was dismissive and really didn't try to appease us in any way or offer anything to rectify the situation while it was happening. Towards the end of our visit she did say she could take my name & number and have the manager call me. And when she finally brought the checks, she did wind up taking 10% off our checks and said that is all they are authorized to do when there is no manager there. I have been in the hospitality industry for over 4 decades and never have I been or worked in a restaurant where there is no manager on duty, yet there only a couple of days a week?!? Needless to say we will not be returning and question whether I will actually get a phone call from the manager!!

What a huge disappointment. We moved to Frederick 2 1/2 years ago, fall 2022, and discovered Callahan’s right away. It turned into our go-to restaurant, with the cream of crab soup being the crown jewel. The menu options and price point suited us perfectly. It is astonishing to me how the owners could have messed with a good thing! Not only was the new cream of crab soup recipe boring, but it was short on crab meat (and came out cold). My husband’s smashburger was not worth the price, and the french fries that were supposed to be Old Bay fries were not, the kitchen missed coating them. We were a party of four, three of us got our meals in a timely manner the fourth didn’t get her meal for another 20 minutes. Management was not present, and the wait staff had no idea how to respond appropriately to our displeasure. It is very clear that proper training, oversight, and mentoring of wait staff is needed. She applied a 10% discount on the tab, pointing out that in the absence of a manager on duty, that was all she was authorized to do. In my estimation, that was not satisfactory. During this time of transition it would behove the owner(s) to reconsider their on-site presence. It saddens me to leave this devastating review. My husband and I will not consider Callahan‘s as our go-to restaurant going forward, I can’t imagine under what circumstances we’d be returning.
