Just came here for a drink after a long day, and couldn’t resist a snack after seeing all the amazing dishes people were eating
I just stopped by to grab a quick small bite. Crab dip was ok. Smash burger and fries were very good. Yelling always on point. Service was great by the waitress and some guy, maybe the bartender often came by my table and checked in on me. Thanks. I will hopefully catch the owner next time.

After having seen this place have a massive turnaround on Ramsay's Secret Service, my mother and I happened upon Callahan's itself and now I can safely say this is nothing like the dysfunctional place Gordon had to be called in to save. The owners and staff have made Callahan's an absolute delight of an experience serving local, freshly prepared cuisine in a comfortable yet refined setting that I will absolutely be returning to at some point.
Walking into the establishment, you're greeted with a sense of nautical nostalgia that is immaculately carried throughout the dining room. The walls are a deep-blue to bring that oceanic ambiance, the darkened ceilings add a sense of privacy and comfort, and the rolling, studded leather chairs provide both comfort and elegance that made even waiting for our order a pleasure. Adding to this is the prevalent deep woods and simple decorations along the walls. It channels your earliest trips to a fisherman's lodge or a classy seaside establishment in the heart of Frederick, an achievement in and of itself. It took me looking out the window and seeing Fort Detrick to remind myself that I wasn't dining in the shoals of the Chesapeake Bay.
As for the food itself, the menu mentioned it being a farm/ocean to table experience and the owner was proud to mention how they purchase product from the nearest vendors both to assure quality and foster a sense of community. And I can personally attest to that with the Crab Imperial Bacon Cheeseburger I ordered, where the first bite genuinely astonished me. Two thin patties browned to Maillard-y perfection yet still dripping with so much juice that sauce or condiments was made completely unnecessary. Bacon that snaps and pops as if fresh off the flattop. And nestled inside these meats is a layer of crab, flaky and evidently fresh, somehow provided a delicate, thalassic touch that made every bite a delight. Add onto that a side of fries that immediately brough to mind the iconic Thrasher's in Ocean City and I can confidently say it was one of the most memorable dining experience I've personally had.

Not worth the money in my opinion. Burger was alright, fries were not fully cooked. Other people's food had similar issues such as chicken overdone and dry. Was really hoping this place would wow me after watching the Gordon Ramsey episode. Not so. Also heard some cussing in the kitchen, and took awhile for food to come out. Servers were great though, very attentive. Nice interior design too.

At lunch there today. Informed by waiter that they basically were out of seafood. The iced tea was very light brown—not good. The waiter forgot my onion soup which was complimented—not as good as I remembered it—The smash burgers were good but very salty—not sure if it was the burgers or the special sauce. The service was extremely slow. Not sure if it’s worth a trip back for dinner….

They were out of several items so I ordered the crab cake. It was incredibly small, the baked potato was old and the place had a dirty vibe. We won't be back.

Best dining experience I’ve had in over two years.
Had a reservation today at 5:30. I was so excited to go there because I saw the Gordon Ramsay show that my beautiful girlfriend and I showed up 30 minutes early. We walked into the bar and I was greeted by one of the staff who made us feel like we were home and welcomed us to sit wherever we would like. I was not mad at all that we beat the crowd because the dining room after being remodeled looked awesome and we had it all to ourselves. I love they still have the old barracuda on the wall.
We had a young man as our server and he was very polite and checked in on us at the perfect times. I’m terrible with names, but I hope he is our server next time. The food tasted amazing. Baked potato had enough butter on the side, so I didn’t have to feel like a fat ass asking for extra, was perfect. The salad was out of this world expoding with flavor and the raspberry house dressing was the bees knees. I could tell the lump meat in the crabcakes was fresh and the side sauce with a little bit of lemon was a good combo. The tartar sauce was actually the best I’ve ever had, please don’t change that recipe.
Got a crème brûlée cheesecake to go and that’s definitely guaranteed to put you to sleep happily.

$42 crabcake dinner was not as good as Rubes crabhouse in Emmitsburg and theirs is cheaper too. Had to wait about 10 minutes after eating to get the bill and they were not busy. A huge disappointment and run down.

Bland filet, overly fishy crab imperial. My order was taken after someone who was seated after me. It was probably 10-15 minutes after being seated before my drink order was taken. No lock on the mens bathroom door.

This place was so good and the service was amazing when Larry was alive. Quality control matters! I am assuming in a year or two a new business will be here. It’s sad what has become of it. The same thing happened at Lowerys in Tappahannock VA.
