Everything from the food to the staff was fantastic! My Filet Oscar was beyond scrumptious. The staff was amazing and many of them stopped by to say hi to my boys. Sue our server was fantastic and really personable. All the staff were so kind and really made the visit so special. Our 2 sons are still talking about how great their meals were and how much fun they had. Can't wait for our next visit!
Last night my mom and I along with two of our good friends decided it would be a good night to try the supposedly new and improved Callahan's! We typically had good experiences eating there in the past and were anticipating what differences we would find, hoping to be positive ones. Little did we know that it would turn into a disappointing experience! My disappointment was mostly related to the quality of the service, although we experienced some food related disappointments as well, big one being the change of the recipe of the cream of crab soup, which used to be my friends favorite there and which she was extremely dissatisfied with this visit! Our server started out being somewhat attentive, took our order and then became less attentive. When our food came out, which took awhile and there was only one other table in the restaurant at that time, only three of our meals came out. After about 10 minutes we wondered where the fourth meal was and when we questioned the server, she was kind of short with us and said they were still working on it. In the meantime the only other table in the restaurant, which came in after we ordered had already gotten their food! Finally after a total of about 20 minutes my mom's crab cake sandwich finally came out and the rest of us were just about done with our meals! When I told the server we were unhappy with the situation and I would like to speak with the manager she told me there was no manager there on Sundays and they would not be there til Friday. She also was dismissive and really didn't try to appease us in any way or offer anything to rectify the situation while it was happening. Towards the end of our visit she did say she could take my name & number and have the manager call me. And when she finally brought the checks, she did wind up taking 10% off our checks and said that is all they are authorized to do when there is no manager there. I have been in the hospitality industry for over 4 decades and never have I been or worked in a restaurant where there is no manager on duty, yet there only a couple of days a week?!? Needless to say we will not be returning and question whether I will actually get a phone call from the manager!!
What a huge disappointment. We moved to Frederick 2 1/2 years ago, fall 2022, and discovered Callahan’s right away. It turned into our go-to restaurant, with the cream of crab soup being the crown jewel. The menu options and price point suited us perfectly. It is astonishing to me how the owners could have messed with a good thing! Not only was the new cream of crab soup recipe boring, but it was short on crab meat (and came out cold). My husband’s smashburger was not worth the price, and the french fries that were supposed to be Old Bay fries were not, the kitchen missed coating them. We were a party of four, three of us got our meals in a timely manner the fourth didn’t get her meal for another 20 minutes. Management was not present, and the wait staff had no idea how to respond appropriately to our displeasure. It is very clear that proper training, oversight, and mentoring of wait staff is needed. She applied a 10% discount on the tab, pointing out that in the absence of a manager on duty, that was all she was authorized to do. In my estimation, that was not satisfactory. During this time of transition it would behove the owner(s) to reconsider their on-site presence. It saddens me to leave this devastating review. My husband and I will not consider Callahan‘s as our go-to restaurant going forward, I can’t imagine under what circumstances we’d be returning.
Waiter Eddie was very attentive and through with our order. Offered selections and recommendations.
Overall excellent experience.

Food was terrible! Fish was overcooked and the crab imperial was fishy flavored. I will not go back.

I love Craig and the ladies that service the bar. They always take great care of me and they are always so nice and friendly. They make you feel at home and their karaoke nights are a fun time. You'll meet some amazing people while spending time there. If you like hot wings try their wings with hot and Cajun on it you'll love it. And the nachos are great as well.

I go mostly to the back bar for happy hour & karaoke on the weekends. It's definitely a dive bar, but it's my dive bar & I love it. If you're coming to karaoke starting at 9, show up early or you won't get a parking space.

Had an amazing seafood dinner with the family! The crab soup is supreme! All the seafood is so good! The fried shrimp had a tad too much for the kids. The desserts were crazy delicious!
My recommendations would be to have some complimentary hush puppies or bread for large parties or families when the food is going to take a while.

I had the crab imperial bacon burger. The crab imperial is good and could probably be a good burger by itself. The addition of a burger patty does too much and the flavors kind of conflict. I find myself wanting to eat them separately. Nevertheless it's a solid burger with a unique premise so definitely worth trying. The fries are a bit undercooked though.

Fried items were overcooked and had to be sent back. Brussel sprouts were not fully cooked. Not a good experience. The server corrected items as he could and was very professional. I had surf and turf, and the steak was thin and not cooked to medium rare it was medium well at best.

Lets keep this simple. They cooked already dead crabs. The quality was horrendous and lacked flavor. Lots of crabs full of water and soft and mushy. The whole family and friends who came over to eat reported getting sick not soon after eating. I would say if you don't want to risk your health and want good crabs, DO NOT go here.

Great place for karaoke, dancing, and cheap strong drinks!!!
Very nice restaurant. Ordered the double crab cake and shared with husband. We sub sides for cup of cream of crab soup- delicious! Crab cakes are 8 oz and seriously the best and biggest we have ever eaten. Full of lumps. Will definitely return.

Callahans is a small hole in the wall place. The food is absolutely amazing. Food was so so tasty. We all enjoyed our food and rate the food the best in the area. Burgers are so big i could barely eat it all. Seafood is pretty good and surprisingly fresh.
The only thing missing was the service. Waitress was very nice but had to ask waive her over several times instead of her coming to check on us. There was only 4 other people in the place. Sunday lunch time is absolutely dead, people do not know what they are missing not eating here. If your in the area you need to stopby and eat here.
