Whenever I am visiting Frederick, I love to go to Gladchucks for lunch. The food is always perfect and the atmosphere comfortable and relaxing.

Staff was friendly enough but not particularly attentive. Food left a lot to be desired. Ordered the French Onion Soup and the Angus Burger. The cheese on top of the soup was burnt to a crisp while the soup itself was lukewarm at best. Ordered the burger cooked medium. Half of the patty was medium while the other half was still quite pink, and the bun was completely saturated with grease. My $9 White Russian was essentially a glass of ice with half-and-half, and looked as though they shook it vigorously for 5 minutes because the froth was almost deeper than the drink itself. Will not be eating there again. You're basically paying for the aesthetic.

So Valentines week is also my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary. To be blunt, our dining experiences in Frederick's fancy, trendy restaurants over the past 7 years (pre, during, and post Pandemic) have been mostly lackluster. In my opinion it's due to overreaching and establishments duping customers into believing that inflated prices equal a premium experience.ANYWAYS, my wife picked Gladchuk Bros. for her birthday dinner this year. All the lifetime Frederick locals I talked to in the kitchen I work in rolled their eyes and kinda insinuated it mostly catered to a much older clientele, but nobody had been there recently. My wife and I made a reservation for 6:00 and got there and got seated early. We ordered a spiced pear vodka drink. Appetizers were jumbo lump crab stuffed mushrooms, oysters Rockefeller, and the roasted beet salad. For entrees we ordered the crab stuffed cod for her and sautéed chicken livers for me. I didn't see options for sides and both of our entrees came with a perfectly steamed fresh vegetable blend and homemade scalloped potatoes. It was hands down the best dining experience we have had in Frederick. In fact, we had a hard time remembering a better experience anywhere.First, the food was all simple ingredients and lightly seasoned but all cooked perfectly. I cook professionally and can't help myself by making notes of how a dish can be improved next time (especially when it's something I've made). I had no notes on ANYTHING we ordered. It was all perfect. In fact, I got visible goosebumps when I tried my chicken livers. I like chicken livers just fine, but I never thought they would be part of such a great dining experience. The food was perfect. Our server was attentive without being invasive. He was polite and knew what he was doing. We always try our best to be low maintenance, so we didn't have a bunch of questions. Again, perfect. As far as the atmosphere, I can't remember the last time I ate somewhere this COZY. A hearth in the entryway. Comfortable lighting without being dark. Bookshelves, fun artwork, and classy vibes leaning far more towards laid back than stuffy. It made us both nostalgic for nice family dinners out from our childhoods. Makes sense since Gladchuk Bros. has been here since 1988.To say this is a strong reccomend is an understatement. The price of everything matches up with quality and comfort. It's a no-nonsense elevated dining experience that I feel people need to revisit.PS - We were there on a Tuesday night at 6:00. They were filling up by the time we left. Make a reservation!

Arrived, got seated and ignored, with only one other table wrapping up their meal. Maybe evening service is better? Not even drink order? MENU LOOKED LIMITED.

My family's favorite Frederick restaurant. Places like this cannot be easily found; please do not change it; it reminds me of better times in America.

Loved it. A gem of a place. Great mix of ambience, quality, and service. These people love what they do and it shows. How else could it be still thriving since 1988???

We were greeted and treated like family. German/Polish decor and some menu items. Bartender had some nice specialties. Vermont Chiken and holiday chicken eye both outstanding. Homey and delicious.

Went here with a couple family members on a Saturday evening. Olivia who took care of us was great. Bread was good. We all really liked our dishes, I had the baked stuffed shrimp. Came with scalloped potatoes and mixed vegetables. Not regularly a big veggie person but did enjoy these more than I thought. I believe it may have been the bartender who said goodbye on our way out; the lime frozen margarita was delicious. The way it's set up in there it can be kind of loud. I have auditory issues so mentioning this for select others to be aware of and prepared.

We ate at this restaurant for the first time last Saturday evening. It was a great place for comfort food with a European flair. I had the roast turkey dinner and my husband had the rockfish special, but there was meatloaf and schnitzel on the menu as well. His martini was smooth and muscular, and I enjoyed a Lambrusco with my meal (never served at most restaurants). The spiced apple cake was a true German original, and the portions were impossibly large! The host/owner greeted us on the way in, stopped by to check on our comfort during the meal, and shook hands on the way out. You won’t get that at your local chain restaurant, for sure.It was a nice quiet outing, unfussy, unhurried and one we will definitely do again.
