Fabian gave us excellent service
My wife and I randomly stopped in for dinner during a road trip. Wow, what a find!
If you like authentic Peruvian food, this place is a must visit. We had anticuchos, fish ceviche, and causa rellena. The flavors were amazing and the food delicious. They also have a full bar and many cocktail options.
The greeters and wait staff were very pleasant and helpful. Jorge, the owner, greeted us and gave us some background about the restaurant and the food. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.
We'll be going back to try more dishes one day!
Got the lunch special. You get to pick an appetizer and entree for $15. I chose the Aji de Gallina for entree and Chicken wings for appetizer. Both were incredibly delicious, I couldn't stop eating the Aji de Gallina. The chicken wings tasted amazing too, although the flavor threw me because they tasted like the wings I'd get at an Asian buffet; good but not what I'd think of Peruvian. Side note I'm so white that I'm see through like Casper. My only problem with the wings is that they were puny, literally the smallest wings I've ever had. So amazing food but miniscule wings 4/5.
Great service (thanks again, Kevin!) and amazing food! I end up in this area just once a year and make a point to eat here every time, and somehow I have a better experience every time. I respect the authenticity despite Peruvian not being the most common cuisuine in the area. If you've never had Peruvian corn before, you've never known how corn is supposed to taste! Id also try the civiche and paella. I had these with the causal atun- a dish I'd never heard of before which really deserves to be world famous.Great food, drinks, and wonderful staff. Highly reccomended for anyone looking for Peruvian or try something new!
Best chicken I’ve had in a while! 10/10
Delicious food, great service! First time eating Peruvian food. Had dinner here while traveling through the area. Had the dark 1/4 chicken meal with salad and Brussel sprouts...absolutely delicious. So was the Pineapple margarita. Nice vibe, very clean restrooms.

Mayta’s Peruvian Cuisine offers a lovely setting, with a clean and inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for a great dining experience. The service was notably friendly, and my server was exceptional—attentive and knowledgeable, making sure I felt welcomed throughout my visit.
However, the food unfortunately did not live up to expectations. I started with the papa a la huancaína, which was disappointingly bland, lacking the rich, vibrant flavors one would expect from this classic dish. I suggest more aji amarillo or more queso fresco. Next, I tried the chicken with chaufa rice and yuca. While the rice was passable, the chicken was severely underseasoned and lacked any distinct flavor. The yuca, too, fell short; it was quite hard and seemed like it might have been frozen rather than freshly prepared.
Overall, while Mayta’s Peruvian Cuisine shines in service and ambiance, the food did not meet the standards I hoped for, leaving me craving the bold flavors that define Peruvian cuisine. I was expecting more when the word “cuisine” is in their name. Thank you to the chefs but I will not be returning.

I’ve been a fan of Mayta’s for years since they had their original storefront in Frederick. Peruvian food isn’t hard to come by in the DC metro area, but in Frederick they are maybe the only, or one of the only spots boasting the full array of dishes you would expect at a Peruvian restaurant (not just charbroiled chicken) and they do it WELL.
I really appreciate the familial feeling the owner has established in his space. Combined with fresh ingredients and those special flavors you can only get from Peru, I always leave Mayta’s feeling both satiated and like I’ve had a taste of home.
You can’t go wrong with popular dishes like lomo saltado, chauffeur or chicken and yuca frita, but I especially love their aji de gallina and tacu tacu.
Recently I had the chance to stop at their food truck and I was blown away by how fresh the yuca was and really loved the chicken empanadas.

We came in later in the evening. They didn’t tell us it’s to-go orders only. Food is flavorful. Servers are attentive & welcoming. House hot sauce goes with the dishes. Pisco sour is delicious.
