We were looking forward to trying this new restaurant in Hagerstown last night with our friends and it did not disappoint! As vegetarians, we enjoyed many different options, all wonderfully flavored, but not overdone with spices. There are meat options too. I will be recommending Motherland Kitchen and Spices to others!

The new location in downtown Hagerstown was a great experience. Went in with a couple friends and ordered a few things family style. Everything by was delicious. Will definitely be back for the chicken peanut butter stew and the Kathi Kathi chicken!

The food is unbelievably good. We tried beef pie, beef stew, peanut butter chicken stew with both corn and yam fufu. The women make you feel like family and food makes you feel like home. I would suggest this for anyone who loves food, wants to love food or just want to eat food.

Following the tradition of having the best meals in places you wouldn't expect: Motherland Kitchen. We stopped by because we were in the area, just expecting to eat and get going. Well, it was mind-blowingly flavorful, and the servings more than generous. The chicken peanut butter stew was creamy, aromatic, rich and full of umami. If you're vegan, this restaurant has plenty of options for you, too—the owner actually teaches African Vegan cuisine! So happy we ate there.

Go here. The owner is a delight on this planet with extremely welcoming energy. You can taste the love, soul, and culture in this food and it is hearty and filling. Vegans, this is the new go to spot with plenty of delicious options.
We tried African food for the first time at a restaurant, Not only did everything feel authentic, but the staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was just a very good vibe. The owner is very much involved and passionate about her place and her food.
I ordered the lamb with greens and Jollof rice. My wife got jerk chicken with fufu. The portion sizes were very good and you can tell the food was made with love. There was so much flavor, spices, and seasoning. The lamb was really impressive, and the greens were more like a sautéed spinach than I was expecting, and it was really really good. The jerk chicken was moist and falling off the bone with a good level of spice and flavor and the fufu. was very nice to try for the first time
thank you for a great first experience and we will definitely be back!

Fantastic food! We ordered several of the vegan dishes. They were all fantastic. It all was so good we over ordered, and the leftovers tasted delicious two days later. My favorite was a creamy peanut/tofu dish.
