Panera has been going downhill for years. This isn't new. Overpriced and always something missing, especially if you order to-go. Usually still hungry after meals because their portions are insanely small. Nearly always a long wait.

I'm just now rediscovering the Panera Bread. For my first time at this Frederick, MD location I went with the Pick Two, where I got a Half Chipotle Chicken Avo Melt, a Half Mediterranean Greens with Grains, and a French Baguette all for $12.18. The sandwich was not as good as I expected it to be. If you go to Panera's website and lookup the Half Chipotle Chicken Avo Melt sandwich and then compare it to the picture of the sandwich I got (included in this review), you will only see lots of bread with some chicken and not much else. Even the bread wasn't as fluffy and fresh looking like the advertised picture on their website. It was also lacking a sufficient amount of chipotle aioli drizzle, avocado, and sweet peppers. More please. The salad on the other hand was fresh and delicious. Really good salad. I'll definitely be ordering this again. Perhaps, they should change their name to Panera Salad. With the Pick Two, they give you a FREE side choice of French Baguette, Apple, or Chips. I went with the French Baguette which was not fresh at all so it was discarded. Another side option is a Fruit Cup but there is a $2.89 additional charge for it. As a reward for joining MyPanera rewards club, I was also able to take advantage and get a FREE treat. I snagged a $1.29 regularly priced Chocolate Coconut Macaroon free of charge. It was small but scrumptious. On a down note, I placed my online order for Rapid Pick-Up and it was supposed to be available for me to grab from the Rapid Pick-Up shelf in the cafe. It was not. I had to ask an employee behind the counter for my order. They turned around and grabbed it from shelf directly behind them where it was sitting for a while. No one placed it on the Rapid Pick-Up shelf for me to just grab and go. They apologized but I left the store shaking my head as the employees sadly don't follow their own business's policy because they either don't know it or simply don't care.

I went into the restaurant this morning and unfortunately had a bad experience. This isn’t the first time that this has happened to me with the same staff member. This is the reason for me leaving this review. When I went into the restaurant this morning, I proceeded to order two cinnamon bagels. The staff members response very rudely said “ which one do you want, go look at the labels!”. Then she aggressively put my bagels in the machine and then basically threw the bag at me. It’s very clear she doesn’t want to be there and doesn’t like her job. The staff member who was attending to me was Jennifer. I attempted to call back to speak with the manager. Jennifer picked up then hung up on me. I hope by bringing awareness to this situation, it will improve other customers experience.

Three employees were joking and laughing when I approached the counter. Finally, as one turned to me and, wiping the smile from her face, bluntly asked "what can I get you?" Every exchange was borderline rude from there on. Suggest you search for a business model, maybe Chick-fil-a and search for best qualified employees. I will not return to the Kingfisher Drive store.

Nora was amazing excellent customer service and taste in coffee drinks. She made an amazing dirty chai and was kindly patient when I was deciding what to order/recommended really great options. She is great to the team and am happy with my interaction with her!
Run it like years ago when food was good, they understood order placed, there were customers in the place.

On-line orders are not filled correctly. They routinely "sell-out" of basic items and substitute with whatever they have the most of. Staff must be under paid as they all have poor attitudes, often on their phones, only do their assigned job and do not jump in to help other staff (example the order line is five deep and there are people behind the counter just standing watching because they are on "drink duty" or "carry-out"). This review is not based on one bad experience. This location has been going down for the past few years. The last visit when questioned why my order was wrong and being told "it's what we have" and huffing at me when I said I didn't want it I'll take a refund did prompt me to write this review. If the item is available when you place an online order shouldn't it be there at pick-up? If you can get bagels they used to be tasty - not sure about the "new" recipe. The sandwiches are hit or miss depending on who's making them - again poor attitude of under paid employees - some place ingredients evenly over the bread other put it on in lumps and bumps. Soup is tasty and served hot but you may feel shorted by the amount (again it depends on who is serving).

So I go to this Panera and tonight. Julia did the order correctly. She’s the one that makes it happen thank you Julia because usually when I get the chicken avocado melt with grilled chicken it doesn’t have the chicken or the avocado. She did great

I went to ask one of the “workers” for help and he didn’t hear me because he had earbuds in. He was also sitting down. I asked him his name and it was Nick. His attitude was absolutely disgusting, he repeatedly made weird remarks and was acting out of character. Before I finally made it out of this hell hole I saw him take change out of the tip jar. Very very unprofessional.
