The pupusas were great but the customers service wasn’t good and we left a 20tip and they proceeded to charge my card an additional tip so just be aware!

Go for the pupusas alone!
Hear me out. Obviously, this place has mixed reviews so I figured that I would try it for myself and form my own opinion. I visited on a Tuesday during dinner time and called ahead for takeout. The place was basically empty and only two women were working. This is consistent with what other reviews have said, and it makes sense that perhaps service would be slow if you were dining in.
The restaurant itself isn’t much to look at, but it’s located pretty conveniently on 40 across from the MegaMart in a shopping center with multiple other Latino businesses. I had no issues with customer service and received my food when expected. They accept credit card and pupusas were reasonable priced.
These pupusas. Wow. They looked perfect. Thick, greasy, and they smelled divine. The chicharron was seasoned incredibly, the frijoles were so good. Such an authentic taste. Yes, I’m Salvadoran-American from Montgomery County. I put these high on my list. Felt like home.
They’re not incredibly generous with the curtido, and the salsa is a bit watery and flavorless. Doesn’t matter. The pupusas are amazing on their own.
I’d 100% come back for takeout on these pupusas alone. Glad I did.

A simple and quiet restaurant featuring dining and to go. Quick service but not a very clean place.

I would give it a full 5, if the cashier, would have greeted us, when we approach the counter.

I had ordered food 2 soups and pan de pollo . Both of the soups were not packaged right , didn’t even leave the store and one soup had spilled in bag, when i approached the staff , they were rude and made me seem like the problem. I asked for them to fix the issue, all they did was replace the bag and gave me back one of the soups half full and when i asked if they can add more since it fell with no fault of my own , they said no “ they don’t have anymore “ then they made it a big deal when I Asked for a refund. I don’t recommend them at all. Service is a 0.

Restaurantji Recommends
I had a terrible experience with this restaurant. When I called to place an order for the first time, the person who answered the phone was extremely rude and had a heavy attitude. She showed no manners or professionalism when speaking to me. I pointed out that her behavior was inappropriate for customer service, but she didn’t seem to care.
When I went to pick up my food, I addressed the issue with her again, telling her that such an attitude was unacceptable, whether over the phone or in person. Her response was shocking—she admitted that “everyone complains about her,” as if that made it acceptable.
I am shocked that this restaurant allows someone like her to work there. My experience was absolutely terrible, as if I were asking for free food. I strongly recommend avoiding this place. The service is awful, and the cashier has no right to treat customers with such disrespect.

The food is good
The woman who attends Aveses is all serious but everything else is fine
THE FOOD: The pupusas here are delicious! However the seafood soup (sopa de marisco) is not worth the money. All I got in my soup were around 4 shrimp, and 1 crab shell with barely any meat in it. The soup consisted of just muscles, onions, cilantro and green bell peppers. It didnt even have fish, or a single crab leg. Los Trios or other restaurants I have tried from always have crabs legs, fish, even rice in the soup!
SERVICE: The service is not so great, they had 3 waitresses, it was not that busy. Yet there were so many dirty tables! They also took so long to bring us our check, even when we got up from our tables to go pay at the register.
ATMOSPHERE: its quite quiet, and not many people.
*side note they also dont give refills! So if you drop your drink, youll have to pay for it again.

We got to this place at 8:30 they refused to serve us and said it was only to go orders. When my husband asked for carne asada she said no they will not make it. Do not go here the ladies were rude they didn’t want to give my dad a a refund and made it seem like everything was an inconvenience. Take your money next door to Sardis.
