The Frederick MD location is terrible. It really needs a new owner/ manager. I only use the drive through if I even go because the last few visits took around 45 minutes or longer to get food when I parked. They forget to turn the restaurant lights on after dark or they are broken like most of their equipment. Most people think they are closed or just avoid this location because it takes forever. The building is in disrepair: signs are broken or missing & others are taped together. The employees are polite and always apologize for the long wait and say they are understaffed . It is such a shame because SONIC is a great restaurant, but most people in this area know to avoid this location.

The food is either good or terrible. Tonight's food definitely wasn't fresh and it was slow.... the woman and man both had awful attitudes as well. Super rude

Non peak hours and still had to wait about 10 minutes for a cold kids meal. The cashier gave me my wrong change and was not apologetic. He also forgot an item and was wondering why I was not moving from the drive thru. Really never go back. Please improve your service and customer awareness.

As a business owner in Frederick who recently underwent surgery, I was hoping for an easy meal out after a week of recovery. Sonic seemed like the best option, as I can’t sit fully upright yet and needed the ability to eat in the passenger seat, reclined, to relieve the stitches along my waist and testicle area.
Unfortunately, the experience was highly disappointing, particularly regarding restroom accessibility and staff response. The restrooms are located outside, and I used the men’s restroom shortly before beginning my meal. However, midway through, I needed to use it again, only to find it locked. When I asked an employee for access, she explained that the restroom was intended to be public, but due to damage caused by previous customers, it was now accessible only to employees. She informed me that the men’s restroom was also "broken"—even though I had just used it 20 minutes earlier.
I explained that I had a medical emergency and pointed out my Jackson-Pratt drain tube, visibly attached on the outside of my shirt, indicating my serious post-surgical needs. She shrugged off my request and proceeded to unlock the restroom for her own use.
Left with no other option, I rushed (or, more accurately, struggled due to my stitches along my waist and lower area) and ended up vomiting behind the building in distress. Still needing facilities, I approached another employee, explaining my medical urgency and showing documentation. Unfortunately, he dismissed me, and I was forced to return to my vehicle in discomfort.
My caregiver is now driving us home to Baltimore County, but we must make an emergency stop to buy new clothes and attempt to clean myself due to an unfortunate accident in the car. I am particularly concerned about the risk of infection around my stitches. This experience has been incredibly distressing.
I am considering consulting my attorney to discuss options, as I believe this incident demonstrates a lack of understanding by Sonic’s staff of accessibility laws and basic customer rights. I strongly recommend that this location provide training to its employees on relevant health and accessibility regulations to ensure others don’t endure a similar experience.
I called Sonic shortly after leaving and left a voicemail for a callback. I highly suggest that they do.

Would love to find a place that actually mixes their ice cream. Sonic blast with candy dumped on top, and nothing mixed into the ice cream. I stopped going to McDonald’s because they inexplicably stopped mixing their ice cream. Apparently Sonic won’t get my business either.

Disgusting. We came a few weeks ago and ordered our food, and our 1 year old daughter a kids meal. We got milk with her meal which was spoiled. We have both worked fast food before and chopped it up to a mistake. Happens all the time and left it at that. Today we came in and again, ordered food for ourselves, and our daughter. We got home and I opened my daughter's bag, which was handed to us rolled shut and we did not open in the car. I took out her tater tots and when I poured them on her tray a LIVE COCKROACH began to crawl away. I am absolutely disgusted. I now know this franchise owners laziness and filthy habits have caused a poor outturn of quality. I will be telling everyone I can to avoid this locations at all costs. (Attached picture of crushed cockroach from the bag I squished in a panic). To reiterate I do not blame the workers. Situations like this can always be traced back to poor management and corner cutting done from owners. I am livid

Worst experience ever from this restaurant! The cook at night should find a different job I ordered my food and it was so far from what I ordered I figured it had to be a mistake so I reordered….. MISTAKE not only did it come back the same way it was even worst. The cook on Tues night 9/24 needs to really look for something new

This burger is delicious, I think the flavor is one of the best I've tried in Maryland, the shame is that you can only eat it in your car, I know that before they came on roller skates to bring you your order but now not only on a tray and that's not enough uncomfortable even though there are fixed tables outside not suitable for children as is my case so we had to eat in the car, their phillysteak is great and they have some small chicken dumplings from the delis I would definitely return

Bathrooms are “Out of Order” which is never true at any establishment. Also horrible just not nice service. Guy on the speaker was rude and told me I was mumbling over and over when I was speaking clearly. Slow to deliver food even though there was no rush. Also half their outdoor drive up machines were broken

This must be the worst Sonic in the United States… They turn all the lights off and stop accepting cash an hour before closing. Looks like a dead zone. Nothing is organized or clean. Even the greenery looks disappointed to be there.
