This place has gone downhill. The soup dumplings used to be so good when they first opened but now they are shriveled dough wrapped around meat that does not represent chicken. The cucumber salad is not good anymore.. mushy cucumbers with no flavor. The shrimp in the shrimp fried rice have not been cleaned properly

I seldom leave negative reviews, but it is more than warranted here. About two months ago, my partner got salt and pepper chicken from here. He asked me to taste it and it was absolutely delicious. Tender, moist, and cooked just right (not too hard or soft). We went to see a movie at the Regal this afternoon, and when it was out I went down to Ugly Dumpling to get some of the same dish. Paid, was told it would be a 5-minute wait, and about 3 minutes later the cashier walked over to the table where I waited with the bag…the attached photo is what I received.
There is no way the food they gave me was not old and sitting out all day. It was so overcooked that it was as hard as rocks — to the point I couldn’t even chew one piece I tried for fear I’d damage a tooth. It had to be because I’d ordered it to-go and they knew it wouldn’t be opened until I was long gone. There is NO way I would have been served this if I’d have dined in. Again, this was 100% old food — it even tasted as such.
I cannot believe this is from the same place as two months ago. Over $12 for chicken and rice, and the only thing edible was the rice. And I said “edible” because the rice was undercooked. If they were out of the chicken they should have just said that, but they chose to give me whatever they had laying around. Now I’m sitting here hoping the two bites I had don’t make me sick from food poisoning. It has been a LONG time since I had food that nasty!

This food was absolutely disgusting. Nothing about it was good. It’s was $20 for literal cat food wrapped in mushy dough. The owner should be ashamed of themselves. I can see why it’s called ugly dumpling because nothing about the meal was appetizing. I ordered the soup dumpling combo… the dumpling had NO soup, the meat literally had egg bits in it. What type of dumpling has egg in the meat? The place was empty when we walked in…I can see why. The spring rolls had a crispy outside but then you get to the middle which is just mushy slop. This place needs to be shut down! My friend ordered popcorn chicken and spicy wonton combo and the chicken literally tasted like nutmeg and cinnamon. The wontons were the same as the cat food soup dumplings. If you want expensive cat food…this is the place to go. Other than that you will never ever catch me stepping food in this disgrace of an establishment…

Mariela was fantastic , excellent service and very friendly
No gluten free options regardless of what the Internet tells you. Not even the rice dishes.
I ordered a brown sugar boba and shrimp dumplings. The brown sugar boba was disgusting 🤮. It tasted like way too much milk and sugar. No taste at all. For $7 I expected it to taste like actually brown sugar boba. I asked her to exchange it for a milk tea which technically was cheaper. The attitude that she gave me was as if I asked her something inappropriate. I thanked her after she remade it and still she had such a nasty attitude. The dumplings for $9 were miniature and not worth it. As well the milk tea remake was so bad that I had to throw it out. It had a horrible taste.

Very generic interior, nothing stood out and no ambiance, really. Lacking decorum and aesthetic. I don't really need to see 100 bamboo steamers stacked up on the wall, especially when they're coming to my table.
The menu is on large tv screens mounted to the wall, very fast food-esque. To order, we walked up to the counter, where the cashier was less than enthusiastic to be working there or maybe working at all. We were given a plastic number tag for the table we chose and waited about 10 to 15 minutes for our food.
My friend's Soup dumplings were overcooked to the point some dumplings were visibly open and all but 1 dumpling had no soup. When we lifted the bamboo steamer from her tray, the soup had pooled below on the tray. She liked the flavor and texture of her sampler, though.
For me, my dumplings were almost perfect, except the chicken. The chicken had no soup and I immediately got a texture no no (gristle, perhaps). My other dumplings in the sampler were delicious and decently flavorful. Bao buns were a great hit all around - fluffy, white bread texture, scrumptious BBQ flavor, and actual pieces of meat, not paté or mush. Lastly, the veg noodles I brought home for a later meal were awesome. They reheated nicely in a wok with a tbsp of water and dash of soy. Veg was tender crisp and I loved the flavor.
