Terrible Experience at Bonchon in Kentlands
I recently visited Bonchon in Kentlands, and it was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The place was empty (which should have been my first red flag), but I gave it a chance. I specifically asked for Bonchon wings that weren’t overcooked, and what I got was the exact opposite—hard, crusty wings with a thick layer of batter that was just inedible.
When I brought it up to the staff, the guy’s response was basically, “That’s how we cook them.” No apology, no offer to fix the issue, just complete indifference. It’s no surprise the place had no customers—who would want to come back to that?
We didn’t even bother finishing the food and left to eat at The Dog Haus next door, which was a much better experience. Save your time and money and avoid Bonchon in Kentlands.

Their food is usually solid. But I tried placing an order 25 minutes before closing and they told me that they don’t accept orders anymore because their kitchen has closed. I asked if this was a new policy and they said it is not new, it has always been that way since they opened. I know this is not true because I’ve ordered like this multiple times within the last month. I even have email confirmations that have the date and time stamp of when I placed my order. Every single time it was less than 30 minutes after closing. It’s extremely frustrating because if I knew this was the policy I would have just placed my order 10 minutes earlier. I don’t appreciate being told that that has always been their policy when I have multiple pieces of evidence showing otherwise. I will not be coming here as often anymore.
Spicy chicken wings and legs are really delicious and crunchy crispy. Loved it! Fried rice and especially seasoned french fries are very yammy! Will buy again definitely.
Parking: Many parking lots behind the restaurant area.

We always order from the Rockville location and it's great. Ordered here 2 times and for some reason the taste and texture is way off. I don't know if they use a different oil or it's something else but it's not good

The bulgogi fries are $13 and pictured on the menu as a plate of fries covered in toppings. I received a basket of fries with a pinch of bulgogi on top. Not even layered throughout.
$4 side if kimchi was dry, dry, dry, with no flavor.
$15 Boneless Korean fried soy garlic chicken was overcooked Tyson-style wings that were dry and cooked to death.
$16 Bulgogi fried rice was okay.
It was so hot in there. It was very uncomfortable. It was clean, and our server was personable.
I would not come back nor recommend this place.

My partner and i ordered online. We sat down to eat in the restaurant, but were told by the bartender that we had to go sit in the kung fu tea (which is adjoined to their building) instead, because we ordered online instead of for dine-in. The restaurant was empty at the time save for ONE PERSON who was sat at the bar. Unbelievable that we paid $20 for some chicken wings and were denied 5-minute seating at EMPTY tables (with no utensils, napkins, or place settings) at the restaurant that we ordered from. The kung fu tea was crowded with boba customers (obviously) and we ended up just leaving and sitting outside to avoid conflict with the staff. It was ridiculous that it happened at all. My first bad experience here.

Service is good but pricey for what it's worth. I paid close to $90 for 8 pc chicken, bibimbop, 1 small serving of salad and takoyaki. We did not even order drinks.

There are many Bonchon locations in the DMV, but this one in particular is the best. Their food is always fresh, crispy, and on time; categories that other Bonchon locations have proven inconsistent in. That and the in-house Kung Fu Tea make this restaurant a must-visit.

Disappointed. Chicken wasn’t crunchy at all. it was more like chewy. Meat was overcooked and under seasoned, sauce was over salted. Shame to be called “Korean” fried chicken. Trust me people, I’ve lived in Korea 25+ years and this is NOT what we eat in Korea. Server was telling us not to get a plain fried chicken since it is not seasoned. WHAAAAT???? Basic Korean fried chicken starts from well seasoned meat and breading.
At this point, it’s better to just go other generic American chicken places.
Ordered wings for pickup on a holiday and everything ready as
