Il Porto is a favorite. We were a large group celebrating a Holiday dinner gathered in a back room. Service was well organized. Individual checks were available. Food was excellent. It is amazing how the kitchen can keep up and serve a variety of meals. I should have known better concerning the menu. One page offered a special with an appetizer, entre, and dessert. No price was shown. I asked and was told $42.00. I selected an appetizer and an entre. I did not ask for a dessert. When the bill came I was charged the individual price for the appetizer and entre. That total was &52.00! The special is special but be sure to ask for it.
Good Italian food with great service and ambiance. We loved all the entres that we ordered. I also liked the entrance with flower decorations as it gives a welcoming feeling as we enter the place. I recommend this restaurant for good dining experience.

The staff and the ambiance were great but the food was terrible. The spaghetti carbonara was dry, with thick blocks of onions and the bacon in it had a bitter aftertaste. The pizza was okay— definitely not worth the price you pay. We could not even finish the food and ended up leaving the most, it was a disheartening experience.
I’d also have let this pass and not left a review, but I returned to check their reviews again to notice those rating low have had similar experience to mine. Leaving this review because I felt sick the next day, and food was definitely to blame because it was bad ingredients.
The best food ever

My family recently held my late MIL's memorial luncheon at the iLPorto restaurant in Gaithersburg. EVERYONE agreed that the food was amazing, and the service was spectacular! The menu they prepared for us included eggplant parmigiana, veal marsala, grilled salmon, and chicken parmigiana. Dessert options included tiramisu and cannoli. The service staff was extremely attentive, and the manager added a special touch by providing an easel to display my MIL's photograph. In addition, I had requested that after our dessert and toast to my MIL, that the manager play Dean Martin's "That's Amore!" as that was her favorite song. The manager played it, right on cue, and most of our gathered friends and family members were both surprised and were swaying back and forth. We could not have asked for a better send-off for my MIL, and we will definitely, definitely will return!

A little on the expensive side since meals are ala carte. Drink suggestion from water was right on. Good service.

We came on a recommendation from someone who used to live in this area. While the chicken marsala was good, it came with a strange, bland small plate of spaghetti and red sauce. The sauce had no taste. I took off the plain noodles to eat with the marsala. We should have been offered plain noodles to go with the chicken dish. The bread was also served cold- only way to get warm bread is to order the garlic bread which wasn't that great. My friend had the chicken doratti and he now has a stomach ache. My son had the grilled salmon- it was served with a side of that awful spaghetti and red sauce which he did not eat. Having a side of roasted veggies would have been better. We also thought the prices were a high for the quality/quantity and you could go to other italian restaurants and get more bang for your buck!

Wonderful Italian menu options and beautiful setting, both inside and outside. Eggplant Parmesan is outstanding, and Clams Casino was the best I have ever enjoyed. The specials are not to be missed. Service was excellent.
