A great place to meet up with friends or have dinner with the family. I would recommend La Mex to everyone.

Food was mediocre to taste and it was served barely warm. It's in a bar which makes the vibe worse or not as enjoyable as it could be.

I've been coming here for a few years now. I like how they have complimentary chips and salsa as well are waiting for our orders. My go to here is usually the build your own burrito. It can be a hit or miss with the ordering. Sometimes my husband's specifications get mixed up with mine due to the server probably not noting down our toppings correctly. Also I missed the pickled jalapeños they used to have here but no longer have. Overall decent if they can get our orders correct.

My friends and I were enjoying food and drinks at La Mexicana when the Re-up band and security personnel showed up unexpectedly. The security team acted aggressively, demanding a $30 cover charge from each table or else we had to leave. Despite not being informed about the band or any cover charge beforehand, we agreed to finish our drinks and depart. The pressure from security persisted until we requested to speak with the owner, Ash, who surprisingly claimed there was nothing he could do. We found it odd that he couldn't intervene in his own establishment. Charging loyal customers who support your business on regular basis an additional fee felt highly inappropriate and left us feeling unwelcome. As a result, we've decided to take our patronage elsewhere. Ash in the future perhaps you should advertise when an event is taking place so that patrons aren't blindsided! I hope it was worth it.

Absolutely wonderful to experience!! La Mexicana was recommended to me, so I decided to pop in on a Wednesday during Happy Hour (3pm-7pm) and I’m so glad I did! They have plenty of tvs at the bar, one of the best happy hour menu’s I have EVER seen (great food & drink selection/specials). My food ( I got the grilled chicken fajita quesadilla, and let me tell you…freaking delicious!! Just a great bar atmosphere, with great service! I can’t wait to get back!!

Great “hole-in-the-wall” kind of restaurant. First time I had their pork chop with rice and beans. It was really good. I would not say prices are cheap, but it was reasonable.

This place has not changed a thing (bar, stools, decor) in over 25 yrs. It is in desperate need of updates.Parking: I love a free parking lot!

I am bringing to your attention an unfortunate incident that occurred during my recent visit to your restaurant/bar. On sunday Jan 28, I experienced discrimination from a waitress named Mo.. at your restaurant/bar. Regrettably, she mistakenly identified my friend as someone who had not settled his tab two weeks prior and subsequently refused to serve me. What was particularly disheartening was her failure to communicate the issue with us. To be told, without any attempt to clarify, that individuals like myself evade payment was deeply upsetting. I urge you to address the attitude of this particular staff member, as her behavior reflects poorly on the overall image of your business. La Mexicana has always been known for its quality food, and drinks, and it is disheartening to witness such incidents tarnishing its reputation. I trust that you take this matter seriously and appreciate your prompt attention to ensure that all customers are treated with respect and fairness

Pork chops, fajitas combo, and tilapia are all fantastic! Great prices can't go wrong with any of the above. Comedy night was a fun addition to the evening.

The food here is unreliable; sometimes about 4 stars, more often, lately, about 1/2 to 2 stars. The bar is spacious, and the drink prices good. There's an open mic every Monday evening that attracts some of the best musicians in the DC area.

The one star is based solely on the waitress. A group of friends went to see the comedy show and have dinner. The show was great, the food was good BUT the waitress was terrible right from the beginning and all the way to the very end. She was in a hurry to take our drink order then took forever to bring the drinks. Brought 2 small baskets of chips for 8 of us and no salsa. We had to ask SEVERAL times for the salsa. By the time she brought it the 2 baskets were almost empty and she brought 1 small cup of salsa for 8 people. When she brought the drinks we asked for more chips - enough for all 8 of us to enjoy and salsa for 8. This went on the entire time, At no point before the food came did we have chips and salsa at the same time. Ridiculous. Our drinks were empty and needed refilling. I don't know where the waitress went but she actually disappeared for 20 minutes. No drinks, no chips, no salsa... Unbelievable There was a LONG delay to get our food. The chip / salsa / drink thing continued the entire time. At one point we asked another staff person if we could at least get drink refills since our waitress has disappeared and her response was in a rather nasty way - I'll get YOUR waitress. ok, whatever.... 2 of the 8 orders came out after a very long wait. There was a solid 10 minutes before the rest of our meals came out. Waitress messed up folk's sides like black beans vs. refried, etc so all that had to get sorted out. All the while no drinks and no chips... A manager after being flagged down brought a pitcher of soda for the table. We immediately emptied that refilling our 8 glasses and no one around to refill it. Once the food was delivered to the table, we never saw the waitress again until she brought us the checks. Never removed a single dirty plate from the table. the plates sat on the table until the show was over, and we left. One in the party paid with a credit card. The waitress didn't bring her card back, when we eventually caught up with her again, she said she returned the card, but she did not. Manager became involved in the search and in fact the waitress did not return the card. Also, waitress included upcharge for chicken inappropriately when there wasn't one. It was for a chicken dish! Tried to just slip it in and hope no one noticed. She removed the upcharge when questioned about it. There seemed to be several staff but very ineffective as far as service goes. I would go again for the comedy show which was a lot of fun but probably forget the dinner. It was a real hassle and took away from some of the enjoyment of the show.

Wonderful food, fabulous restaurant! La Mexicana is a great Mexican restaurant that also is home to the Give a Hoot Comedy Club! This club has great comics-some are new and some are seasoned. Such a fun evening. Wonderful authentic food and all for a very reasonable price! My favorite part is that half of the comedy club income is given to local charities. You simply can't beat that! For a fun evening, head to the Give a hoot Comedy club at La Mexicana!

I heard the rave about HH at this restaurant. A friend and I dined in for HH. She ordered the Fish tacos, steak tacos, a pina colada drink and queso dip. I ordered street chicken tacos, regular chicken tacos, steak tacos, sangria-rita and especial margarita. The chicken tacos have very hard pieces of chicken in it. The steak tacos were tuff to chew. The fish tacos were tender and seasoned well. The drinks were tasty.
