It is absolutely ridiculous that you have to order everything separately.

Disappointed. I have been waiting to eat out at this newly opened Peter Chang restaurant for months. Sunday late afternoon arrival around 4pm, only my husband and I and two other tables seated. I ordered the house tea, he ordered a coke (which came in a can - so no free refills). As the dishes are more of a tapas style we ordered somethings to share. We ordered the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings (3 large), the Lions Head Meatballs (1 large), Spicy Crispy Eggplant, and Combination (chicken, shrimp, beef) Lo Mein. The waitress asked if we wanted rice and I said yes (mostly for the meatball) due to the sauce. The menu does not mention white rice with orders, so being asked was nice. First out of the kitchen was the Lo Mein and the meatball. While chopsticks were available (I still haven't mastered the art), no forks were on the table. While waiting for the other items to arrive, my husband started with the Lo Mein, which was cold. As the dish came out to the table rather quickly we questioned if it was made to order. When our server arrived with the dumplings and eggplant dishes, my husband told her the Lo Mein was cold, and I requested forks. She took the Lo Mein back to the kitchen and it was returned to the table hot. Oh, there is no soy sauce available on the table, so we requested some. The dumplings were hot and very good, but not served with any dipping sauce (?). The crispy eggplant was also missing a dipping sauce. We never received the rice. We then ordered two sharable portions of Mapo Tufo and Lemoncello Shrimp. Another server brought the dishes to the table and I again requested two orders of rice and told the server we never received them earlier. Unfortunately the shrimp dish was cold, the Mapo Tofu was great, but still no rice. Our server walked by a couple of times, but without stopping to ask how everything was or if we needed anything? Still no rice. The other server we made our 2nd rice request from, walked past 3 times, but did not drop off the rice. I finally had to signal our server for the check. I gave a glowing review for the Peter Chang restaurant in Rockville a few years ago. I looked forward to them opening in Gaithersburg which is closer to home. But, I have to say I won't be returning anytime soon. Could be new restaurant kinks being worked out, but I don't no. What I do know is our dining experience this evening was a big disappointment.

Never order the stone pot rice with green beans and cured meat. The portion is extremely small, with most of it being just rice. The cured meat is saltier than salt and too tough to chew. The price is $20. Avoid ordering it at all costs.
The waiter was excellent as was the food. Would go back many times.
Amazing girl’s night out dinner. The lychee rose martini was spectacular! We had a scallion bubble pancake, chengdu garlic steamed pork belly (1 level spicy for these American girls who like a little spice), vegetable fried rice, and steamed pork soup dumplings (have to have the black vinegar and ginger with it). Hands down we would order every one of them again. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. It was super busy and bustling and full of animated conversations. Family friendly but not impacting parities without children. It was not too loud, so we could carry on a conversation easily. Absolutely recommend dinner here for a fun and delicious night out.

Very poor management. Our orders got lost completely and they kept sending other table’s food here. Staff had no clue.

Full star eating at Peter Chang in Gaithersburg. Excellent decor and waiter service, food was shared for tasting with 5 friends. Everything was delicious and fresh. Made to order is a benefit so ask for favorite dish with less or no spice. Topas bowls generous. Accommodated reservation for extra person. Important to make reservations on Friday Lunch otherwise might need to wait for available table. Parking was tight by 1:00 pm. Peter C. talk to Vision World next door - maybe they allow parking for your customers.
Our first visit to this Peter Chang. Portions are not huge but enough. We had the whole sweet and sour branzino. Lots of sauce and crispy crust that overwhelmed the fish. Grandma's noodles with chili sauce were delicious. Chicken and beef dishes likewise. There were way too many onions in the Mongolian beef, though. It is all a bit pricey but worth a try. We miss the Rockville PC.

THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS REPLY:
We are so sorry for the incident they occurred and we understand the inconvenience of the situation. One of our managers Jean was working to negotiate a cleaning fee and we settled on a number . After being told we would need to wait to get a check from our head office you refused the deal. We are sorry we could not meet your needs.
THIS IS FALSE, these shoes are composed of Napa Leather and can NOT just be easily cleaned. I had to have them SPECIALLY TREATED and the stains are PERMANENT. Your manager "Jean" would not even SPEAK to me nor would any of your other Staff. I was told to bring the receipt for the shoes, after providing one, that was not good enough, so I had to supply not only my receipt, my order, and the payment of method. I was told this was going to be submitted to your insurance. When I returned, I was given a VERY ridiculous low ball offer of $300 which does not even cover the cleaning kit. I ACCEPTED the offer and was told to come back 6 hours later for a CASH SETTLEMENT. When I returned, I was told there was NO cash and I had to WAIT for a CHECK to be cut sometime in the future. At this point, I wanted to proceeded with a CIVIL LAWSUIT and was TOLD by your staff to call the police to get a report filed, so I did. As I was waiting in my car, your VERY aggressive employee, the only one who could actually communicate with me as he was the only one there who spoke English, he called the police and had me BANNED FROM YOUR ESTABLISHMENT.
Now if you would like to revisit this issue before I move forward with my attorney, please contact me. You have all my information.
Worst experience in my life. Was there with a large party and it took over an hour and a half just for us to get our food which came very cold. A waitress ended up knocking over a bowl of sauce on my shoes valued at $2000 and tried to claim that I assaulted her. The owner, Jane tried to settle with me for a ridiculously small amount of money and refuses to provide me with any type of insurance information for the business and contact information. I will be pursuing a civil lawsuit against this company. There is also one waiter there the only one who speaks English, and he became very intimidating and was displaying acts of aggression against me.

Stop by for late lunch, and they actually offer tapas portion dishes. So the portion size is smaller compared to traditional dishes, but it gives patrons lots of choices to try different dishes. We had total of 9 dishes, mostly good, but the stem pork rib dish was not up to par, it had way too much starch, it felt like eat a wet breaded pork rib. For 3 steam dumpling for 9 bucks was slightly steep. But over all was great lunch. The highlight was the pork belly stew, and lions head meat ball, even though it was only one meat ball, it was pretty good. The beef chow fan was good too. And the shrimp with walnut was decent too. Total out of the door with tips was $103 for 4 people. We’ll be back again.

Peter Chang Restaurant delivers the ultimate Peking Duck experience. The skin is perfectly crispy, with that satisfying crackle in every bite, while the meat remains incredibly moist and flavorful. Each slice is a balance of textures and tastes—rich, yet light, with just the right amount of fat rendering. The duck is served with traditional accompaniments, allowing you to wrap the crispy skin and succulent meat in delicate pancakes with hoisin sauce and fresh scallions. It's clear that the chefs have mastered the art of Peking Duck, and every bite feels like a celebration of culinary excellence. Best Peking Duck ever!!!

The food is ok nothing outstanding or new? The employees need more training and need to be more professional. Why in the world would a manager get bothered by a child? “The noise” my kid makes bothers her. He’s giggling, bubbling and making sounds any toddler does, I mean it’s a restaurant to eat what am I supposed to do put tape over my child’s mouth ? I had a reservation I called in for and when she saw it was us began to laugh and removed me from the waitlist and then had the gut to say the reservation wasn’t made or removed she didn’t even apologize. When we decided to leave she didn’t even say sorry or anything?? On the other hand she got happy we left. Will not be going anymore after this incident I hope the OWNER sees my review!

The food is fantastic with smaller servings. It is a popular place but manages to not be too loud.

This restaurant is very bad. The dishes ordered are not with rice, and the situation of not with rice is not explained. I tried to call them to confirm, but their phone couldn't be connected. I won't order again.
