Spilled Milk Catering

Where to start? I hired them for a party for 50 and while we had a lovely and tasty menu these guys phoned it in when it can to managing the details of the event and serving staff. In addition I was price gauged days before my event, with significant cost overruns that couldn’t be explained by the event coordinator. This is not the caterer to use if details matter to you.

Prior to becoming a wedding planner I worked for a well-respected full-service catering company in the DC market. My standards for a catering company were very high. Spilled Milk was the first catering company I worked with after starting my planning business. I was hired to plan a large wedding and knew that critical to my success would be helping my clients choose a top-notch catering company. Once I met Heather and tasted Spilled Milk’s food, and saw the creativity of their presentation, I relaxed - knowing I had found a partner I could trust. As a planner, the caterer must be able to execute the set-up plan, stay on time, take care of guests and flex when things don’t go as planned. Heather is incredible. She is adored by clients because she genuinely cares about them and is invested in making their wedding day vision come to life. My clients choose Spilled Milk because they genuinely like Heather and trust her, just like I do. Beyond Heather the Spilled Milk event staff is fabulous. They are well trained, attentive, think on their feet and truly take care of all the guests. Since that first wedding, I have worked with Heather and the Spilled Milk team too many times to count. I would highly recommend Heather and her team.

Spilled Milk Catering was exceptional as our caterer this summer. Going into wedding planning, we had no idea how many choices we would have to make involving food, drinks, linens, signage, and furniture, just to name a few items, and SMC’s Heather and Brittney made it as easy as possible for us. SMC was transparent with pricing each step of the way and provided frank advice on where we did not need to be spending if we didn’t care too much for one thing or another. The cocktail appetizers, drinks, meal, and ceremonial cake were so tasty and beautifully presented. Everyone on the staff was friendly and efficient and looking sharp as they buzzed around seamlessly. SMC helped with our search for a sofa for a tea ceremony, which we ended up not getting, but we appreciated their assistance in finding options from local event furniture rental companies. We brought our own assortment of desserts and SMC nicely presented them for our guests to ensure everything was fresh and looked classy. Can’t go wrong with these seasoned pros who have a creative flair!

Very disappointing experience overall with SMC for my wedding in June 2024. We dealt entirely with Amit, the CEO, from start to finish. Mostly, he was hard to get in touch with, slow to answer, and treated us as if he didn't care about our contract at all.

We had made a few requests and tweaks to the menu when we were at our tasting. Assured they were easy changes and we didn't have to worry. We emailed Amit at least 4 times requesting an updated estimate after the tasting, and never received anything.

That is, of course, until the bill was due (10 days before the wedding!), when we learned that our changes would result in a TWENTY PERCENT increase in price for food and drinks. Completely tried to pull the wool over our eyes at the last minute, and expected us to just pay it. What else would we do? Not have food at the wedding? After much haranguing, we were able to reach a compromise that we agreed to, but this was unnecessarily stressful at the last minute. He had four months to provide us with updated pricing, and waited until we had no choice but to make a deal.

We had also asked, months in advance, for the wedding to be completely nut-free. The bride has a nut allergy, as does most of her family. The tasting we did reflected this, and the menu was approved with this understanding. Come wedding day, however, we had pistachios on every salad. We were such a low priority, that Amit didn't bother to put in the notes that there was an allergy to be aware of...FOR THE BRIDE. She was devastated and embarrassed after telling her entire family the wedding was entirely nut-free.

I emailed Amit afterwards expressing my disappointment in how he handled the wedding, and expecting him to admit that he had screwed up and show remorse for the way he treated us. It's been three weeks and he hasn't even bothered to email me back. That's what he thinks of you, the customer. Consider that before you sign a contract.

OMG!! I really wish I could leave a six star rating because the people at Spilled Milk deserve it. Our daughter was recently married at the Anderson House in Washington D.C. and it was amazing!!! The experience created by Spilled Milk from offering guests champagne upon arrival to the elegance … quality … tastefulness …. decorations … table settings …. food … drinks and really just everything was extraordinary!!!

My daughter used Spilled Milk as her caterer for her wedding on May 18th and they were absolutely perfect! The appetizers were so tasty and beautifully presented, the dinner was fantastic, and the little desserts were scrumptious. Even the waitstaff was fantastic, very attentive, without being overbearing. Spilled Milk exceeded our expectations! I can't say enough good things about them. My daughter even commented how the tasting prior to the wedding was perfect. It was just the two of them and they even were able to bring food home with them. Heather Ellis our contact there was an absolute delight and would highly recommend working with her. I asked her a ton of questions and she always answered me happily. Everything was just perfect!!!!

The team at Spilled Milk did a great job for our corporate event. I truly appreciate the professionalism that was given. A special thank you to Steven for his hard work and dedication. I highly recommend this catering service to anyone looking for an phenomenal experience.

Had the best experience with Spilled Milk Catering. The food and service were exceptional. I worked with Steven Perez and he made sure I had everything I needed. He was thorough on going over everything to make sure I knew what all was covered with the service they were providing.

They had a nice variety of food choices to choose from. Alll of my guest were raving about how great all of the food was. I will definitely reach out to Steven for my next event. He made the process so easy.

I would not recommend this catering company. Initially, they were very responsive, however, at the wedding, they RAN OUT OF TEQUILA and CERTAIN STAFF MEMBERS WERE RUDE TO OUR GUESTS. I sent two follow-up emails and received no response. While the food was great, the overall service left much to be desired.

We used Spilled Milk to cater our wedding on 10/21/23 for 80 people and their team was phenomenal. Heather did an amazing job with the planning, coordination, and follow-through with our catering and equipment rentals (chairs, tables, linens, etc.) Heather was also very responsive to our email inquiries and sensitive to the few special requests that we had. Both the tasting and wedding day meals were absolutely delicious. In fact, we had several guests at our wedding inquire about who catered the wedding because the food was just so good! Additionally, the service was excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I cannot say enough good things about Spilled Milk and highly recommend them for catering your wedding or other special event!

We are especially grateful for the flexibility when making last-minute adjustments due to the rain. Our wedding planner made it clear that all hands were on deck to transition from an outside ceremony and cocktail hour to hosting the entire wedding under the tent and without everyone’s help from Spilled Milk it could have been a disaster!

We had an excellent experience with SMC for a 50-person wedding. Our main planning contact, Heather, was responsive and helped to build a menu we wanted. All of the staff, including the bartenders, wait staff, captain Mikos and chef Dave were thoughtful and did a good job adapting to the inevitable small things that come up during a large event. Prices all seemed fair, comparing across several caterers we talked to in the area. Would certainly recommend to anyone else trying to put together an event.
