Spilled Milk Catering

This place is so incredibly unprofessional. I reached out to numerous catering options in the DMV and the process (or lack there of) with Spilled Milk was such a waste of time.

I reached out to them in August and filled out a very lengthy questionnaire per their request. On 8/28, when I had not heard back, I reached out and they said they would be “sending over a proposal in reference to my vision….we appreciate your patience.”

Though I reached out multiple times afterwards, I never received a proposal or any follow up.

…Until today, one month later, stating that “it has been insanely busy here! (Yay and yikes!)” and that “ she just going over the event calendar, but I fortunately that date is closed due to max capacity.” So unprofessional.

Spoiler: I already hired someone else but the 3 others I spoke with were infinitely more professional, organized, and easy to work with.

We used Spilled Milk for our wedding at Larz Anderson House in May of this year. The food was great - many guests complimented us on the churrasco and the team took the time to create a detailed menu that perfectly reflected what we wanted. The service was also great. Just as the team finished setting up our tables and chairs outdoors, a massive rainstorm hit and they were all running outside in the pouring rain to put out tarps and move the ceremony inside. We still got to have dinner outside and nothing was even wet - I don't know how they pulled it off!

I took off one star for attention to detail. The edits we made in our final walkthrough were not incorporated. and our planner had to run to the nearest liquor store during our wedding dinner because of it. Also, my husband and I did not get to enjoy our cocktail hour appetizers. Apparently a waiter left a plate for us on a table somewhere but no one said anything to us about it. By the time we finished taking pictures, all the hors d'oeuvres were gone which was disappointing. Also, one wedding planner we interviewed said the quote we got from Spilled Milk seemed rather high, though we didn't end up getting other quotes so I can't confirm that.

This company is not very responsive. I was also promised a quote weeks ago and still have not received it. I would not recommend this company.

Spilled Milk is a guarantee. Our wedding was incredible, and I can't say enough good things about the process or the day. Dealing with Heather was particularly rewarding. We had so many questions and concerns... her demeanor and professionalism were the warm blanket we needed. She is extremely good at what she does and leaves no worries on your plate.Highly recommend this person and this caterer!

Spilled Milk did an excellent job catering my nonprofit's Annual Benefit. Steven and Emma were very friendly, professional, and accommodating in the months leading up to the event, and they made sure that everything went smoothly on the day of.

Steven Perez in particular catered two parties for me, on an almost moment’s notice, and meticulously oversaw every detail. He even made adjustments to the beverages and hightops 24 and 48 hours before the event. Everyone who attended raved about the food and service. Spilled Milk did the catering for my reception at The Lars Anderson House. It was such a wonderful event for and everything from the food to the servers, table decor to the dinnerware was absolutely perfect.

It was even better than I had imagined, and I still have guests asking about how we chose you for our special day. The appetizers were a huge hit with both the younger and older guests, and everyone was raving about how delicious everything was.

Spilled Milk rocks!! Hosted an event using them and they were incredibly easy to work with and were on top of everything. They absolutely nailed our theme and pulled out all the stops to make it perfect. The bar tenders were super friendly and made excellent drinks and the wait staff was fabulous. The food was delicious and there were so many options. Would absolutely recommend for an all in one event planner or just catering alone - they were truly awesome!!

The food was as beautiful to look at as it was delicious to eat. My guests raved about the food and were obsessed about the creative delivery of the appetizers! The staff was also excellent.

Spilled Milk catered my wedding in Sept 2024. Ultimately the food was fantastic and everything on the day of went off without a hitch. The servers were very nice and took care of my husband and I and our guests. The bar tenders weren't as great and failed to maintain the batch cocktails we'd asked for. During the planning process itself, Spilled Milk was the hardest vendor we worked with leading up to the event and the only thing that caused me stress. Communication was slow and hard to set up. And they advertised shaping the menu to our desires, when in reality their offerings are very formulaic. If you look at their menu and like exactly what you see, I think they'll work out. But if you are looking for a caterer that you can work with to create something more unique, I would honestly think twice.

On November 2, 2024 we had our daughter's wedding at The International Spy Museum. Spilled Milk was one of the museum's preferred vendors. After reading several reviews and receiving recommendations, we signed with Spilled Milk. I am a wedding planner in Richmond, VA and was excited to work very closely with all of our vendors, but I have to say that Spilled Milk exceeded our expectations in every way. The presentation of the passed hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour was amazing and delicious, and the entrees we selected, miso glazed sea bass and beef short ribs, along with the late night snacks were out of this world. Every one of our guests commented that the food was amazing!!!

I also can't say enough about the staff! All of them were extremely attentive to our guests with special attention to me and my husband, being the parents of the bride. Service was over the top fabulous. We would also like to give a big shout out to the man in charge of the evening, Jan! I hope I spelled his name correctly. He made sure that we were happy the entire evening. Also, we loved working with Marija. She was extremely professional and guided us through this journey. I would highly recommend Spilled Milk for any of your catering needs. You will not be disappointed!

Where to start? I hired them for a party for 50 and while we had a lovely and tasty menu these guys phoned it in when it can to managing the details of the event and serving staff. In addition I was price gauged days before my event, with significant cost overruns that couldn’t be explained by the event coordinator. This is not the caterer to use if details matter to you.
