This is a really great place for Thai food in Montgomery County.
The dishes are always tasty, fresh, and clearly made with care, and they often have specials that give you something new to try.
The staff is super friendly and attentive, which makes the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself is very clean and well taken care of, and the décor has a cozy, inviting feel that makes it a nice spot to sit down and enjoy a meal. Overall, it’s the kind of place you can go for a casual dinner or bring friends to share a bunch of plates and never be disappointed

Went here with my wife this past Friday. This was one of the best Thai Restaurants I've been to so far. We started with the Curry Puffs and Crab Rangoons. They were both perfectly made and tasted fantastic. For our main entrees we got the Panang Curry and Drunken Noodles. Both just tasted very fresh and high in quality. Service was fantastic and food came out quickly. Be sure to check this place out!

Thai Tanium is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The food consistently has great flavor, spice, and quantity. For vegetarians, the drunken noodles and crispy tofu are amazing options. The staff is also incredibly friendly - this place is a classic!

The location and decor inside is perfect, the service is always amazing, and the food is some of the best I have had. As a South Asian, I think that the flavor is perfect and offers a wide range of vegetarian options as well. Could not recommend this place enough!

Thai Tanium remains one of my favorite restaurants in this area. Despite trying various Thai restaurants in the dmv area, I find myself always returning to Thai Tanium. The food is consistently delicious and flavorful, accompanied by lovely service. I always bring guests here, and they love it too. Highly recommend!!

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal at Thai Tanium, this place is a gem in Kentlands. We ordered Spicy Basil Beef Braised and Drunken Noodles followed by mango with sticky rice. Each dish was delicious. The server was attentive and the prices very very reasonable. With rising costs of eating out and poor service in other establishments, this place was a 10 and worth a visit.

The food here is so good and portions are generous. Prices are fair!
I love the Thai style braised beef! Everything is good though: Fried rice, noodle dishes, curry, soups are fair, chicken satay, fish cakes.
Food is fresh and really good. Customer service is great.
Con:
- when I do takeout, the rice and noodles are usually soggy and don't taste the same. But when you dine in, and take it to go, it tastes right.

We've been going here for more than 12 years and the food has been consistently fantastic. The staff are awesome. The ambience has been great because they play soft spa music but the last time we were there, they were playing top 40 music way too loud. Don't change your atmosphere to be like every one else. No one wants that.

House salad was good but not a huge fan of the peanut sauce, tasted kind of sugary. Drunken noodles were good, very spicy. They were able to do steamed tofu instead of fried. Might try curry next time. Red curry was good, have had better. It was kind of soupy. Probably a tie with the drunken noodles. Overall solid place, not amazing, would continue to go back. I visited Thai Tanium recently and truly enjoyed the food — it was flavorful, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. The staff seemed attentive, and the atmosphere had potential for a great dining experience.
However, what was meant to be an enjoyable meal turned into something deeply uncomfortable. On multiple occasions during my visit, I was called “fat” by a young child — maybe around 6 years old — who appeared to be the child of one of the restaurant’s staff members. This wasn’t a one-time slip; it was repeated, loud, and completely unprovoked. The worst part? It happened in front of adults who didn’t correct the behavior or step in to make it right.
I understand children can be unpredictable, but when they’re part of a family-owned business and present in the dining area, there needs to be accountability. Words matter — especially when they come from those connected to the people running the establishment.
As someone who came to enjoy a meal, not to be body-shamed, this experience left me feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. I truly hope Thai Tanium takes this feedback seriously and fosters a more respectful and inclusive environment for all guests — regardless of their size.
The food deserves 5 stars. But the experience? It needs work. Words hurt, and I hope no other guest has to leave feeling like I did.
— A customer who believes kindness should be on the menu, too.
