Had an AMAZING beef brisket sandwich from Smoke-master Richard today! Along with the mac-n-cheese, slaw and sliced dill pickles; it totally hit the spot! Vittles in the Pines is a mobile caterer I suppose. He’s been setting up camp the last few summers - on weekends over at Pleasant Valley Produce. I’ve had mostly everything they make and never have I been disappointed! Try the smoked sausage or pulled pork or splurge on a platter with everything and you won’t regret it! As a bonus when you visit and spend your hard earned $$, you’re shopping / supporting local. Can’t beat that with a stick!

Where to start. The pork is perfect! The chicken was moist, it was a great compliment to the pork. The corn bread, get extra; same as mac and cheese. The beef brisket is my absolute favorite. I sure wish you had beef long ribs!!

Best BBQ! We had the brisket and pulled pork and they were both delicious. The sides were great too! Excellent quality and superior customer service.

Amazing food! We stopped by out of curiosity to check out the menu and couldn’t resist trying the jalapeño sausage and mac and cheese—they were absolutely delicious! Not to mention the amazing cornbread. This is definitely a place I’ll be coming back to often.
Richard and his son Derek were incredibly personable, professional, and friendly.

I’m literally in the middle of eating it right now. Richard was right that the pulled pork sandwich didn’t need barbecue sauce. That being said, the barbecue sauce was icing on the top (I’m a barbecue sauce guy to the core)

If you’re racing through Maryland, Vittles in the Pines is the ultimate BBQ pit stop. Owner Richard Franklin serves up Texas-style barbecue at its finest—his beef brisket, pulled chicken, and smoked jalapeño sausage are unmatched. And the Grandma Baked Beans? Incredibly seasoned, rich, and packed with bold, smoky-sweet flavor—easily the best I’ve had in the state. Every bite is a win! I absolutely will be a regular going forward!

Richard did a wonderful job catering my micro-wedding! Arrived on time to set up food, food was to die for, and overall was a great experience. I would highly recommend Vittles In The Pines to anybody looking for some high quality BBQ for any occasion! My wedding had ~35 people attend and we were well fed. We even got to take home the left overs! Thank you so much again for such a perfect experience!

I am Texan and I know and love brisket. This brisket itself was delicious. That said, the bbq sauce could use some energizing; a little salty and not enough flavor. I’d love to give this place a good rating as I am all for entrepreneurship in the country, however when your brisket sandwich - something any and every backyard and roadside bbq joint should know how to do, and do well - delivers you a full mouthful of pure fat, a big blob, the potential for a high rating goes down the tube. I did like the shredded cabbage on the sandwich. Not something I’ve seen before and it did add texture (crunch) and flavor.
Overall, keep it up guys. Just check your chopped beef a little better when you’re putting it between two buns. Get a better bbq sauce. And, maybe next time I’ll try your pulled pork or something. Worth a second try, anyway.

Simply delish! Honestly. Whole heartedly. This BBQ is the best! The smoked pork and chicken are tasty and never disappoint. The cucumber salad is the best too. And for Pimento cheese lovers, the secret Southern Cross sandwich will keep you coming back for more! We were so happy to see Vittles returning this season to Pleasant Valley Farm!!!
