I enjoyed the atmosphere, the food, and for the most part the service was good. After settling the bill, I asked for a fork to finish a dessert and was told in a polite yet stern manner that we had surpassed the time limit, and no further service could be granted for a settled check. It was near the end of the brunch hours, there wasn't a wait at the door, and we had spent a considerable sum of money. I was insulted and noticed we stayed the same amount of time as most of the patrons we walked in with. Has to be a better way to drive that point home than to deny PAID patrons a fork. Not sure I will be back. That singular exchange left a bad taste in my mouth, and I definitely would not recommend the brunch to others for fear of such a silly exchange.

This was our first visit to this restaurant; it was my husband's birthday. The food was delicious from the bread on the table to the entree. The ambiance was great, and our server was very attentive. We will be back on a busier day to compare (it was a Monday evening), but I imagine the experience will be just as good.

If you're looking for an exceptional brunch experience where the food is outstanding and the service is excellent, then this is the place! Sunday Brunch was superb! The food was so tasty that it had me praising God for giving me taste buds.? It is well with the price for Sunday Brunch. Our sever was Caitlin, and she was a delight; very attentive, timely, and pleasant. She made my guest, and I feel welcomed and valued. The atmosphere of the restaurant was electronic. The harmonious hum of pleasant conversations and laughter filled the room. The Blackwall Barn and Lodge is well worth the trip. You will not be disappointed.

French onion soup was delish, and the prime rib was absolutely divine!! We were there to see a friend of ours perform but first sat at the bar for happy hour and had a few glasses of excellent wine at a great price. The two bartenders were top notch. I don't think you would ever complain about their talent to make any drink you desire. That's a fact! Kudos to Michael & Alex! The service in the music room was pretty good but we had to finally get a manage to obtain our bill. Other than that, Excellent!!

I got “bullied” into a birthday dinner by my aunt so I chose a place close by that has gotten amazing reviews and I'm glad that everything happened in that order. The food was amazing! Carlos, our server, was attentive and well informed. We loved the ambiance and overall, enjoyed our experience. I will definitely be returning later in the fall for brunch with some gal pals and solo to enjoy some time at the bar! My grandmother, who isn't the biggest fan of eating out, even said that she would be returning!!

The food was extremely fresh and delicious. Items on the menu I ate for which I don't usually eat was so fresh that I enjoyed them. The staff was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxing but not dull. Will definitely be making a return trip!!!

Such a vibe. Sunday brunch was outstanding. So many yummy offerings. There was live music but it wasn't too loud. Very happy with the entire experience. Joe was our server. He was knowledgeable and attentive.

My recent visit to The Blackwall Barn and Lodge in Gambrills, Maryland, on Sunday for brunch left me deeply disheartened and affronted by the unacceptable treatment my party and I received. As African-American men, we could not ignore the apparent racial undertones of this incident, which made us feel distinctly unwelcome. After enjoying our brunch, we were abruptly told by the manager—a bald, Caucasian man—that our table was needed. Strikingly, other patrons in our section, who arrived around the same time with the same number of people, were not told the same. These individuals, notably of a different race and gender, continued dining without any indication that their time at the table was similarly constrained. This inconsistency in treatment is both troubling and suggestive of an underlying bias that tarnished what should have been a pleasant experience. This marks my third time visiting this establishment and, unfortunately, the second time I've encountered such discriminatory treatment. On a previous occasion, when dining with my wife, who is not African-American, I was treated with more respect and courtesy. The disparity in how I've been treated depending on the racial composition of my company is deeply unsettling. While the wait staff consistently provides excellent service, I regret that the same cannot be said for the management, whose behavior is unbecoming of an establishment that prides itself on hospitality. As someone who lives in the area, I had hoped to frequent this restaurant more regularly, but after enduring this second instance of biased treatment, I will no longer be doing so. It is disheartening that in 2024, such overt disparities in service and respect based on race continue to exist. I strongly urge The Blackwall Barn and Lodge to reflect on these actions and take corrective measures to ensure that all patrons—regardless of race—are treated with dignity and equality.

This is my second Brunch visit in the last 3 weeks. I frequent the Blackwall Barn and Lodge Gambrills quite often because the food is exquisite and wait staff members are exceptional. Chris Bassett, the Manager is Wonderful and such a gracious host. We enjoyed our dining experience yet again. 5 Stars across every category. You will not be disappointed!

Beautiful restaurant with great ambience. The service was wonderful. I ordered the lemon chicken linguine and my husband ordered the snake bite pasta. I loved my dish, but my husband wasn't impressed. The crab dip we ordered was amazing though. I do wish the portion sizes were slightly larger, but the amazing service made up for it!

My first visit. Wonderful service and recommendations. I selected the fried green tomatoes, and mahi mahi tacos. Both were very good. As well as the Malbec. Have added to my list of places to visit again.

We love this place. We made a reservation for 4 but had to add two people last minute. They accommodated us without an issue. The atmosphere is great. Great covered outdoor seating and open vibe inside.

The restaurant is beautiful, and the staff is amazing. The food was good, but the value fell a little short. $140 for brunch for 2 with only and orange juice and a coffee added calls for an extraordinary menu.

We enjoyed celebrating my birthday dinner. The rockfish I ordered tasted very good. My husband said the steak was flavorful however for the price, in comparison to other restaurants, he felt it should have been 12oz. Other than this the ambiance was nice and the waitress was friendly.

This was my second visit to Barnwell Barn and Lodge. The food was excellent and our server, Jua'ne, was exceptional and was very knowledgeable about the offerings. It was a pleasure to be there.
