For my first visit the food was just okay, the service was mehh and truthfully the only thing I enjoyed was the company I came with and the Handshaken Espresso beverage I ordered. The young blonde server had some friends walk in after us and skipped us completely and went right for her friends so it took that much longer to get service and food. I wasn't going to let that keep me from coming back though. Let's fast forward to yesterday my birthday brunch meal. Different server, different meal and different company I came with. Server was sweet, just didn't check to make sure we were happy with anything until we were ready for boxes. (She was saying bye to a friend that was leaving as she was coming to finally check to see how things were) BUT literally every bite I took from the Breakfast Brunch Burrito was heavenly! My guest had the Apple Pie pancakes and he was over the moon about them. So this visit definitely triumph the last, for sure! I will be back!

Ordered the western omelette, fried potatoes and a side of sausage. I was not a fan of the sausage, over seasoned, not my style. Omelette, toast and potatoes were served barely warm. My mom loved the coffee! We’ll try lunch next time. Waitress was attentive and caring, great service from her!

This place is so frustrating. The food is always on point but the service is consistently terrible. It takes forever just to get seated then at least another 5 minutes until your server comes to take drink orders. After that settle in to wait for your food. There doesn’t ever seem to be anyone running the place just a few servers walking around aimlessly trying to keep the place going. Seems like a very simple fix with a manager or at least a hostess to sit people.

I can't judge the food because we were unable to order anything. Yes, it was a busier morning. But after watching 2-3 servers stand and chat with one another, and another server walk directly past us and greet a table that came in AFTER US, we got up and walked out. I've been in the industry for 13 years and see this way too often.
After checking out the menu online, I chose to visit this place for breakfast. My first impression - It's clean! But it was still a bit too crowded for me. Despite the busy environment, the service was still very good, however - the online menu had not been updated and everything was priced $2 higher than what I was expecting. I was enjoying my meal when suddenly at 10am - Blaring loud music! I now have tinnitus and a migraine from shooting at my friend who was dining with me. He says that I should have given three stars, but I was pleased with the food and that's the most important thing.

We ate outside and even there, the music was very loud. Too loud to eat inside.

Considering that this place is located in Hagerstown, it has an urban and enlightened vibe. Great food and service!!

I used to really enjoy going to Jay’s, but unfortunately, our visit on June 8th was a major letdown. I came with my four children and my daughter’s friend, and what should have been a simple family brunch turned into a frustrating and uncomfortable experience.
We checked in via the waitlist at 11:45 AM and were seated around 12:15 PM. After placing our order, we waited... and waited. We didn’t receive our food until 1:35 PM — almost an hour and a half later. During that time, we watched four other tables (who were seated after us) get served ahead of us.
Our server was kind and did his best to lighten the mood — even making some offbeat conversation to distract from the delay. He explained there had been an issue with our order ticket not being received by the kitchen. While I appreciated his effort, the situation wasn’t handled well overall.
The biggest disappointment was the complete absence of the manager. I asked to speak with one, but was told he was cooking in the back due to staff shortages. Still, not once did he come out to apologize or acknowledge the issue. A simple conversation or apology could’ve gone a long way, especially with a table full of hungry kids who had only ordered pancakes.
To make matters worse, the restroom was filthy — even my 5-year-old commented on how gross it was. The staff seemed aware that I was upset, and I felt uncomfortable being stared at while we waited.
I understand that restaurants can get busy or understaffed, but basic respect and communication with customers shouldn't be too much to ask. Sadly, we won’t be returning, and I’ll be letting friends and family know not to waste their time or money either.
Update to owner's response:

Your response is not only disappointing but also deeply dishonest.
Let’s be clear: no one made any real effort to resolve the situation during our visit. The excuse about the ticket not reaching the kitchen doesn’t account for the lack of communication, care, or follow-up from your staff. We were left waiting with no explanation or sense of urgency, and no one took responsibility in the moment.
What’s even more troubling is your false accusation that my family made a mess in the restroom. That is an outright lie. For you to shift blame onto us instead of taking responsibility for your own facility’s upkeep is completely unacceptable. It’s disappointing that rather than owning the situation, you choose to cover up your failures with lies.
As someone who values Christian morals, I expect honesty, integrity, and accountability — values that seem to have been entirely absent in this situation. It’s disheartening to see such a lack of transparency and respect. Because of this, not only have you lost us as customers, but I will be sharing this experience with others who expect the same level of integrity. Very sad.
