The chicha is phenomenal and I'm excited to try more of the arepas! I was given a sample of the chicha and immediately bought some, so A+ on the sell, that stuff sells itself! Everyone was very nice and it was pretty quick

The beef is not edible. It's like beef flavored chewing gum. Seriously.

This place is great! Unique food and good service. You’ll need to ask about the unfamiliar dishes, but the staff is helpful. Much more interesting that district taco next door.

I walked into Cafe Azul on Saturday, August 12, and order a Cuban sandwich with a side of plantains. It was the worst Cuban sandwich I ate in a long, long time. The meat was bland and the bread was substandard. The side of plantains was worse; $5 for a mere six chips is ripoff. I will not return to Cafe Azul.

I'd be nice if they picked up the phone. The food is great, but it takes forever, so I tried calling beforehand, just to call 24 times for the last 30 minutes, and no one got the phone, like, really? Go there and place is dead, like 2 customers, great food, but very, very poor service

Love their arepas and chicks de arroz. Great staff and food, a great lunch place in Maryland/DC. And live the Venezuelan baseball jerseys on the wall!Vegetarian options: The beans and rice arepas are great, and there are gluten-free options.

Had to downgrade the review to four stars. They gave five small slices of sweet plantains for $5. This is not only a strange and unfair price; it is also an error since people in the area know the price of plantains, cook plantains, and buy plantains regularly. See my photo of the plantain side. The Cuban sandwich also had less meat than it used to have.

Excellent food! Cafe Azul is serving hot, fresh, made-to-order arepas, cachapas, and more. The staff were very friendly and accommodating of customizations. They have both vegetarian and gluten free options. We also tried a sample of the Chica de Arroz, which we would highly recommend trying. The arepas we ordered were hearty and delicious, and we will be returning to try more of their menu items.
