I normally Rave about Carolinas kitchen ever since i first ordered from here back in 2019. My visit on april 25 was a nightmare. After arriving at 6:11 it was only about mins until we were greeted. After placing the order we proceeded to wait another hour and 35 and have to ask the hostess whats going on, since tables that were seated after us are now paying for their meals. Im a server too so i understand it can get busy but you need to have better communication and all the weight should not be on one server. So at about 7:43 i finally ask her “excuse me we had plans after this do you know how-?” Walking away saying ok before i can finish. At 8:15 we get our food dropped and someone not our server explains “sorry the dark meat didnt have chicken ready and it takes 25 minutes” this is after the hostess takes our order! 25 mins equates to a hour plus i dont understand . Food was good like always but i was very disappointed

Welcome welcome welcome... Food is always on point. It's a must every time I visit the DC area. Smothered pork chops & creole baked fish were delicious. Two sides came with each order. We got cabbage, mac & cheese, greens, sweet potatoes & some black eyed peas. Cornbread is amazing.

The food was delicious, but unfortunately it was lacking in soul. I know soul food better. There was too much spice on the chitterlings and greens for my taste. My wife's Cajun Grilled Chicken was too dry. The service from the waiters can still be improved. However, the lady at reception was very friendly.Overall, still a recommendation.

The customer service here needs help. Horrible body language, rude cashiers, sidebar smart comments, and horrible customer interactions period. I came for the food but will probably take a break for a month or two. No one should be treated the way I was today.Wheelchair accessibility: There's a accessible ramp right out front.

First time visiting since pre-pandemic…just happened to be in the area and decided on good comfort food.We ordered the crabcakes platter which was very good and a salmon platter…and a small chitterlings which were a ripoff for sure.I didn’t realize the chitterlings were such a huge ripoff! $26 for a small - yet what I received was what looked like the gravy/juice from the bottom of the pot. When I asked the lady if this is what a small is supposed to be…she said “yes, bc they’re expensive when they buy them and have to clean them.” I was at least expecting more than just a 1/4 cup of chitterling juice…no meat. Just cloudy onions and broth. So it makes me glad I didn’t get the $50 meal bc I definitely would’ve been pissed if that’s how yall coming.I asked for a sweet tea…and the lady points me to an empty container that had the “foam” in it…and expected that to fill up my cup…which it only filled the bottom of a large cup. When asked is more tea coming, she did get a new batch. So, if you’re willing to make a customer get the tea foam, to ensure the last drop is used…makes me believe you purposely gave me the bottom of the batch of chitterlings (which was just the juice and onions)..and still overcharge for them.

Went with a party of about 12. The staff was great. All hands on deck. Food was well seasoned. I was taking bites from everyone's plate. I tasted sweet potatoes and cabbage, They have all the soulful sides you could think of. I been about 10 years ago and I don't remember the food being this good. They even have a door decorated for you to take pictures. There are many different sections in there for you to sit. Each carrying a different energy.I got salmon on mashed potatoes with greens and macaroni. The macaroni rue was subpar but flavorful and an alcoholic beverage. Their cornbread muffins are really good, and they have many different cakes to choose from

Easter was executed poorly on managements behalf. The quality of the food has gone down hill. None of the fried meats are seasoned. Every time I come they never have the desert I want but continue to have it on the menu. Service is a 3 because of the back of the house & the unseasoned food. The cornbread has no honey butter. All I wanted was to enjoy Easter dinner without family. The ladies who work front of the house are really nice & patient. Atmosphere I have to give a 2 stars because during the week you’re forced to order take out. Seems they’re low staffed or no staff. There’s no serviced seating & the bar with a bartender is also hit or miss.

Easter Sunday and the entire establishment only has 2 servers? People are being told 30 minutes & after almost an hour no one says a word. You don’t know why people choose to wait & the considerate thing to do is tell them the time will be longer. After an hour, you as the customer has to inquire and then you’re told to wait another 20 minutes. We waited for no reason. There’s an entire restaurant & only half of the seating is being utilized. Poor management to say the least & total disregard for the customer
