Nice restaurant. Great food and service. Music is always too loud. Tables, floors, bathrooms, and chairs could be cleaner. Maybe this place needs regular deep cleaning and to smell fresher. The rest is top notch here!

We dine at The Charles a few times a year, and like the place and the selections in general; however, the preparation of the food is unfortunately not always consistant, i.e. crabcakes fried way too hard and more filler than expected, corn salad/salsa quite good, otherwise the vegetables were unremarkable. Selected brussel sprouts as an appetizer were way too big in size, too hard and not cooked enough to be enjoyed. Farmer's salad is a disappointing choice of thick cucumber slices and little else. The braised short ribs were good.

Food was excellent. Took about 15 minutes for the server to come to our table after being seated. Food took about 30 minutes to arrive. They ran out of lemons for the lemonade.

It used to be awesome but the limitations with the menu are confusing. You want that item, that’s only served at the bar, or it’s only on the lunch menu that is only available during the work week. The last few times we’ve eaten there it’s just been okay.

This was my first visit and probably will be my last. Our waiter was curtious but service was very slow. When I finally did get my meal it was barely warm, the same with the coffee. I ended up asking for a replacement cup of coffee because the cream curdled when i put it in my coffee and then waited a very long time for another cup of coffee which again was just warm.

Food request not followed, waited 15 for replacement. Food gave both me and my husband indigestion. Host staff friendly and responsive. Service slow.

Service was abhorrent. The waitress took forever to bring water and failed to inform my party that half the menu was not available.

I so want to love The Charles, however, the service starts out great and then it goes south. Our reservation was at 6:00 pm and we were anxious to make curtain across the street at 8:00 pm at the theater. My plate wasn't cleared until right before I paid my bill at 7:45 pm. The initial attentiveness was great and our server was personable and helpful but as it got busier, less so. One in our party wanted a turkey burger and it seemed that it is no longer available but still on the menu. When we informed the server that we needed to wrap it up and pay to get across the street, she simply said, "I wish you would've informed me." instead of simply apologizing the for wait. One in our party had to be brought her coffee and dessert to go. Since I live within walking distance and eat clean and gluten free, The Charles is a great option for me. I also want to support independently owned businesses such as The Charles but have gotten better service at the busy Outback, which is a chain. Please get it together service-wise so I can enjoy and speak highly of you once again.

They were out of Brussels sprouts and the burger was just ok and too salty the fries were good.

This was a great brunch dinning experience! The food was delicious (chicken & waffles), Light and fluffy waffles with bacon garnish and Carmel sauce was toped with crispy seasoned chicken thighs. Friendly and attentive staff, beautiful ambiance, and affordable prices make this my new favorite place.

My husband and son had brunch on a Saturday. Our waiter was Zach and he was a great server! Very attentive and prompt! Everything was so good!!!! My husband had steak and eggs, I had the veggie omelet with a side of French toast , my son had the chicken and waffles.... Omg...... we ate every bit of it!!! We also ordered desert. My son had this ginormous size lavender cheesecake ! My husband and I had this ginormous slice of a very good carrot cake that we shared! We took 1/2 home. We will definitely be back!!! We have been there before For jazz night and happy hour and that was good too, but my favorite was definitely the brunch!!

We ordered 5 bowls of the cream of crab... all 5 came out cold. The server offered to put them in the microwave, 3 of the 5 sent theirs back (after a bite was taken) and the other 2 decided they would just take it home and heat it later. When the soup returned to the table, the young man bringing the soup back out had no idea whose bowl was whose. Our main course came out, again food was just "warm". One member of our party did send her food back to be heated again. The chicken tender KIDS meal came out last, I actually had to remind the server about it when he asked if there was anything else they could get us. The place was packed. A few members of our party had been here before and raved about their dinner and experience. I'm sad we didn't experience the same. I would like to try them again in the future for dinner on a less busy day, but surely not Sunday brunch!

I think the feel needs to be the same on both sides. It was noisy on the non bar side in the all white and green room. Especially with the workers hitting the wall EXTREMELY hard on the other side. My wife and I were celebrating our 22nd anniversary, and we had to turn our own jazz on our cell phones just to drown out the noise. Our server was excellent.
