I got the New York Strip steak with a Sweet Potato and Broccoli. I added cheese on the broccoli. The cheese was a mistake. I don't know what it was... but, it wasn't very good. The sweet potato was good. I'd order that, again. My New York Strip steak was very good and was cooked to a perfect Medium, which is what I ordered. However, another individual in our party ordered the Beef Tips. When his order came, he complained that there were very few tips. About only 5 would be my guess. In a separate bowl were the mushrooms. There were 2 or 3 times as much mushrooms than beef tips. The bowl was nearly over flowing with mushrooms. It look like the mushrooms were the main course of the beef tips meal. The third member of our party didn't have complaints or praises, either way, about the food.
Our waiter was no where near what I've grown to expect in waiters and waitresses. He refilled the other two people's coffee, but never once asked if I wanted a refill on my lemonade. He was always rushed, abrupt and curt in his service. The service could be a lot better.
The atmosphere and esthetics of the place were Western and Texas like. I really enjoyed the looks of the place.

Didn't even get to the drink order, waited for 5 minutes no one came over, employees all standing around talking so we just walked out

We arrived at 1100am when they first opened. We were seated and the waitress brought our drinks; took our order. There were chickens on the rotisserie. The cook came out and took a chicken off the rotisserie. Had our meal rather quickly. The chicken was a little chewy. We ate some of the meal brought the rest home. I put it in my toaster oven this evening on 250 degrees for an hour and we were able to finish our meal today. Much easier to chew.

I want to start by saying this is an update to my previous review. The food was good as alwaysâno complaints thereâand the service was fast and friendly. But there are a couple of issues that are making me think twice about coming back, and thatâs why I felt it was important to post an update.
A few months ago, we were meeting family for dinner and they refused to seat us until our entire party was present. I get that policy in general, but in this case, the rest of our group was literally in the parking lot and walking in. While we were waiting, other guests who arrived after us were seated before usâeven after all of our group had arrived. I let that slide at the time.
But on my most recent visit, I noticed a âsurchargeâ on my bill. When I asked about it, I was told it was for using a credit card and was directed to a small-print sign at the register. Thatâs not okay. There was no mention of this at the hostess station or on the menu. By the time youâre at the register, youâve already eatenâitâs too late to make an informed choice. And the surcharge was about 3%, which is more than the average credit card fee (typically around 1.9% for card-present transactions).
With Texas Roadhouse opening nearby, weâll likely start going there instead unless Texas Grillhouse steps up and puts customer service front and center again.
Texas Grillhouseâif you want to keep loyal customers, you need to be transparent and improve the experience before the meal, not just during it.

As a Texan, Please do not attach our state name to your place of business! Salad was good size, grilled chicken good, my favorite ranch. That's the end of the goodness. Boxed Mac n cheese that wasn't cheesey, crab soup that was served right from the fridge-I'm not even exaggerating not even a little warm . We got a to go order but did not ask for it to be cold. Unless that's how they eat it in MD, I have no idea why they would think that's ok. On top of that there was no flavor except a cornstarch tasting base with barely any crab and it was more like bits. Didn't finish it after 2 bites. Offer priced for the quality. We got 2kids meals, a grilled chicken salad, cup of soup. They charge for using a credit card too. I would not have tipped if I'd know it would be so bad. 42.00 wasted.

Hostess was nice and friendly, waitress on the other hand was not very rude and acted like we were a bother to her, food was horrible steaks tasted freezer burnt but the assured us they were cut in house daily, cream of crab soup was more like eating jello vs soup, salad was not hateful but McDonaldâs makes better. When we returned our steaks after being some of the worst we have had, we could hear them talking about us quite loudly. The only good part of this experience was the gentleman hostess. Wonât be returning hope the place shuts down
