My experience at this restaurant was incredibly disappointing. I arrived on time for my reservation, only to be informed that it wouldn't be honored due to a private event. After that, I was seated at a table and left waiting for someone to bring chairs. Once I was finally settled, I sat there for 30 minutes without any acknowledgment from the staff. When a server approached, they asked if my order had been taken and then informed me it would take a few more minutes. Frustrated by the lack of service, I decided to leave. I won’t be returning.

Had never heard of this place until I saw a glowing review on IG from some guy who visits restaurants. I decided okay, I have to check it out. So me and a girlfriend went, It was Horrible....The hostess was not at her station, she was being pulled to help serve on the floor. It was clear that they were short staffed, On a Saturday???!!! I finally fight my way into the bar area, and found a table with little help from the hostess ??♀️??♀️After I'm seated, No one comes to my table for 30mins. My friend came 30 mins later, managed to flag the waitress down, who then let it slip that they were short staffed due to call outs. I managed to get an appetizer (Because we were told, the kitchen is not cooking main entrées blah blahh, & this is at 9pm) 2. The female rest room was disgusting! No one was cleaning them, 2 stalls were down. I can say the space is beautiful, chic, But management and cleaning needs to be stepped up ALOT! No body wants to eat in a restaurant with a dirty restroom. We decided to explore and went to the lounge ( Bottle service area). We were repeatedly warned by security, waitresses, ohhh this is only bottle service. As if to say, you can't be here, you can't order bottle service. It wasn't crowded at all! We wanted to order a wine bottle and stay up there... we were told, No kidding, No Nonalcoholic drinks are served after 10pm ?? Isn't wine alcohol??? Nooo they wanted us to Purchase Tequila, Hennesy whatever liquor they had. I said we're 2 petite females, how are we supposed to drink that hard liquor? And yet it was clearly obvious that some other tables had wine. Least to say we left that area, went back down to the main area wher they had a DJ. The night ended with good music. Kudos to the DJ. To summarize, People in service should Stop being such snobs. that's how you drive people away. Take a tip from Swahili Village, they're Great At Service!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! My friends and I went here on a Tuesday night, when it was not busy. No one greeted us, the service was horrible, the food was clearly reheated and not fresh. After complaining about the first dish, I ordered a new one and it too was old and reheated. I should have read the reviews as others have expressed the same sentiments. Everything took super long from the food to getting the paycheck. If you want to hop on the Tic Tok wagon and come here for likes on your story and be treated horribly and get awful food, then make yourself welcome. Take your money elsewhere because this place is not it. You have been warned!! Shame on the owner for allowing this foolery to occur. Black owned restaurants should not be supported just because they are Black. If they can’t deliver they should not be supported. This is a sad trend and our people continue to drop the ball.

After having a horrible experience at the establishment across the street, came here to celebrate my move back with friends. Came on a Saturday night. It was a nice atmosphere, good music, and they have a room upstairs for bottle service and more seating. It was a bit crowded and after a gentleman noticed we still couldn’t find a table, he immediately asked if we were okay and assisted us with a table. Very accommodating! We had an amazing time! Great vibes all night. Only issue was getting our drinks. Took forever to the point we just went to the bar to get more while we wait for our server to come with the original order. Other than that, amazing! Thank you guys. Highly recommend coming here. They had good throwbacks too. Dj was awesome. Ps: ladies they have a lightening mirror!! ?. Met some cool ladies in the bathroom too. Just great vibes all around

Love, love, LOVE this place. I had the salmon my first go around & it was delightful. The atmosphere was beyond up to par and exceeded expectations. I can't say enough good things about this place. My server Mariam was incredible. She knew the menu really well and made sure we were taken care of. I was quite pleased with her service, she even helped me pick a drink when my mind went blank. Love potion, people I'm telling you it doesn't miss!

What a disappointment. I love African food and couldn’t wait to come to this spot. I ordered red snapper However, what was bought to me nearly 40 minutes after ordering (and no the restaurant was NOT busy), was clearly not fresh. It seemed as if the fish was possibly cooked days prior, refrigerated, and then reheated and given to me to eat for a price of $38. Fresh fish should not be leathery or the same texture as beef jerky. Not to mention my food was barely room temperature. I sent the food back and ordered a different dish that had goat meat. The dish came in a very small bowl that had more goat fat than meat and also seem to be reheated. The goat meat was hard as if it was drastically over cooked. At this point, I didn’t even complain and just ate because I was so hungry from waiting so long.
The ambience was nice, but the food was definitely lacking, especially for the prices that they charge. Please believe the 1 star reviews, they are accurate; unless you just want to roll the dice and see if your experience will be different.
10/10! Food recommendations were great and the drinks were well made, the bartender Victoria is super helpful and very attentive! I’ll be most definitely be back!

My friend and I went for sip and paint but decided not to paint since they wouldn't let us pay after we got there. They did make up for it with free drinks. We decided to stay and try the food. Our waitress/bartender (can't remember her name) was really awesome. I got the salmon entree and my friend got wings. First, it's almost $30 and only comes with one side. Secondly, it wasn't cooked all the way as I would've like it and the vegetables had no seasoning whatsoever. It was like frozen steamed vegetables right out the bag. My friend said the wings tasted like day old wings that they tried to reheat. Plus they were out of a few things we wanted to try.
Overall, the vibe was nice and chill but for how expensive the food was, they need to do better.

Came in on a Sunday evening. Place is overpriced for the area in my opinion. Cocktails being $25 in Laurel is insane. Hookah was $70 also overpriced and it wasn’t good. Service was a bit slow and music was not great. Not sure if I’ll be back.
