02/28/26 – Pine Lodge Steakhouse | Late Lunch / Early Dinner
I visited Pine Lodge Steakhouse for a late lunch/early dinner, arriving between 3:30–4:00 p.m. I chose a back corner seat intentionally, as I wanted to observe the space as a first-time patron and give a fair, well-rounded review.
I began with the crab dip appetizer, which was the undeniable star of the meal. The crab dip was phenomenal and an excellent representation of Maryland crab; rich, balanced, and well executed. Well done.
To drink, I ordered a strawberry margarita with a sugar rim. While I would have preferred a bit more sugar on the rim, the drink itself was very strong. As someone who doesn’t drink often, it bordered on overpowering. I would gently suggest the bar double-check measurements; if they are accurate, this may simply be a matter of sensitivity but it stood out.
For my entrée, I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye cooked medium, with asparagus and plain mashed potatoes. While the cut of steak was excellent and cooked well, the seasoning was unfortunately subpar. To compensate, a compound butter was used, but rather than enhancing the steak, it added unnecessary greasiness and masked what could have been a great cut. Extra fat cannot replace seasoning.
The asparagus mirrored the same issue. Texture-wise, it was cooked properly, but it lacked flavor. Even the steak juices and butter failed to elevate it. A simple acidic element such as a squeeze of lemon along with additional seasoning would have cut through the fat beautifully and brought it to life.
The mashed potatoes, however, were the highlight of the entrée. Rich without being heavy, smooth, creamy, and not gritty. A picky eater would absolutely love them. Well done.
Atmosphere:
As someone who frequents steakhouses, I found the music selection during lunch to be too loud, especially given the low volume of patrons at that time. The constant switching between genres (country, pop, rock) created a sense of whiplash. Music plays a far larger role in a dining experience than many realize. A more consistent, subdued selection would elevate the restaurant from feeling like a quick in-and-out stop to a more refined dining experience. A small detail, but one worth addressing: upgraded napkins could also subtly elevate the overall presentation.
The Bar:
This is where perception matters. As a guest seated in the corner with a clear view of the room, there should never be a question in a patron’s mind about whether staff behind the bar are disengaged. Extended phone use behind the bar, especially visible to guests, creates an impression of boredom or inattention, regardless of intent. If downtime requires personal phone use or drinks, those moments belong in the back of the house. Guests should never be left wondering whether the bar is fully present, attentive, or compromised.
Service:
My server, Madison, was the highlight of the visit. Not only was she attentive to my table, but I also observed her interactions with other guests. She handled a mildly difficult situation involving a dissatisfied patron with professionalism, composure, and grace, resolving it smoothly and without defensiveness. That kind of service anchors a dining experience. Well done, Madison, you earned your tip.
We had a Party of 8 (4 Couples)
We wanted separate checks, and we were told that it could only be done in parties of 3 or more. We said fine, just do 2 couples per check!
Get the checks and 1 was the drinks, and 1 was the meals. Ok, fine we can figure this out. Had most of the bill in cash and we instructed her of how much to charge 2 individual credit cards. Didn’t get that right either!
Food was ok, and we would be more forgiving if waitress took the time to do things as instructed! I guess she figured she was getting a 20% Gratuity already and doing stuff right wasn’t actually needed!
BTW when you Charge People for Ice Cream on their dessert, Whip Cream isn’t the same and you shouldn’t charge people for Ice Cream

We came here for our Valentine’s Day dinner. The barbarian bread was the BEST bread we have EVER eaten in our entire lives and we are not exaggerating! Our waiter, Jess, was incredibly kind and made our experience even more special. The Valentine’s menu was super fun and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was calm, and the service was amazing. We highly recommend this place to celebrate your special holidays and moments.

Services were great. Loved the look of the restaurant. Got the table we requested- in front of the fireplace.
They put butter on the NY strip but as others have said they done season the steak enough. It's a shame cause it's good quality but if you don't season the steak it doesn't have the flavor that you should get with a good NY strip.

We visited during the winter, so I can’t speak for what it’s like in the summer months, but we had a wonderful dinner experience. The ribs and the prime rib were both excellent—tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. We also really enjoyed the dessert selection. My wife had the crème brûlée, and I had the cheesecake with caramel whiskey bacon, which was absolutely delicious. We’d definitely come back again!

Loved our waitress Jess H. She was kind, funny , sassy im the best way and her recommendations were on point. My boyfriend and I got the ribeye (medium rare) with the loaded mashed potatoes and the porterhouse (rare) with jacked mac and cheese. The ribeye was a bit tougher than I'd like but the porterhouse was so tender he could pull it apart with just a fork. We finished the night with creme brulee and it was the perfect light sweet pallette cleanser after the garlic butter from the steak. Will definitely be returning.
*The (-1) star for ambience was because of temperature. It was so cold in thw restaurant I felt like I should have brought my coat and it made my dinner get cold really fast.

Initially all was well. We ordered apps, they arrived promptly. Then, it was an hour for our entres which arrived the same time as other tables which arrived 30-40 minutes after we arrived. One of the two steaks was clearly overdone but after waiting an hour, we just accepted it. Seafood entre was cold, and a side soup that was ordered was never brought to the table. Server never checked on us in-between plates. Will not go back.
I have only been downstairs, so I cannot speak to the upstairs dining area, but the downstairs has cozy vibes and good appetizer food. Prices are reasonable.
This was our second time dining at Pine Lodge Steakhouse. We sat in the main dining area and enjoyed the fireplace ambience. I cannot recall the name of our server, but she took good care of our table. My husband's steak was not done well enough, and she immediately took it back to the kitchen, and another server returned the steak and offered to get him a different helping of mashed potatoes. We enjoy this restaurant and the good and friendly service.
