Worst bartender. You can’t even enjoy because she has an attitude
I decided to eat here this weekend because I was taking my daughter next door to the Urban Air park. I usually don’t leave bad reviews but this place deserves it. First , my family was seated as soon as we got in… I was thinking it was going to be a good experience. Then after waiting several minutes someone finally came to take our drink orders followed by 10 minutes later our food order. About 18 minutes in this experience, another couple was seated next to us. Within 5 minutes the other couple were brought drinks and their order was taken. We ordered chicken nachos and chimichanga Texana with rice and beans. After waiting another 15-20 minutes the couple next to us were served their food. My daughter asked why the people next to us were eating already as I too wondered. Another 10 minutes and our food arrived. The chicken nachos were cold, dry, flavorless, and the chips tasted stale. The chimichanga, was full of peppers and onions with very little chicken fried and burned. The beans and rice were dry and the queso was stuck to the plate. No flavor at all!!! Very Americanized for a so called authentic restaurant. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. As I was sitting there another person came to my table with another order and tried to put it on our table. Someone else’s order….it was unbelievable……so disappointed that I ended up leaving a plate of chicken nachos barely touched and the burned chimichanga shell with the inside dug out. For $20-30 per person meal at a $51 tab for 2 meals and an iced tea. Idk who likes food unflavored, salsa watered down, and dry nachos but this place is not Mexican food!!!! I’m from Los Angeles, and this place is disrespecting the authenticity of Mexican Food.
I usually love the food here, but I got something different and was very displeased with it. I ordered the fajita salad with chicken, thinking it would have everything on it that a fajita would have. It was pretty much just chicken, some of which was very grisly, and sour cream in a taco bowl with a few tomatoes and very little lettuce. This was supposed to be a salad mind you. I asked for guacamole for on the top of it and instead I got sliced avocados. I enjoy guacamole, but just avocados are too plain tasting to me. I took most of this home and doctored it up with sautéed onions, peppers, salsa, cheese, and cilantro. I made some guacamole of my own and had it tasting the way it should've tasted in the first place.
I hesitate to write a review because we really do like this restaurant. I just came in for a takeout order which totaled $24.53. I’m waiting for my change so I can drop it in the tip bucket along with a couple extra dollars. The cashier closed the drawer without giving me the change. When I asked for my change she said oh we don’t do that. I said I’m sorry you don’t give people their change? She said if it is under 50 cents they don’t give change. I was a bit taken aback. I proceeded to leave without putting money in the tip jar. I do regret that because this is not her fault and I do apologize for my reaction as I said this “policy” is not her fault. I know in the grand scheme of things we are talking about pocket change but this is a ridiculous policy and needs to be reconsidered by the corporate office. Again, I am not leaving a negative review, just sharing my experience.
First Visit! Excellent! Ordered the steak Burrito’ sooo Good- really yummy cheese seemed to be melted through it! Flavor was awesome/better than any cheesesteak in town! Service was wonderful and very speedy We ordered fried ice cream for dessert and it was also delicious! Another customer told us everything he has ordered has been very good! Will be Returning very soon!
Horrible Mother's Day! We ordered our food and when it was brought out the food was cold. The fajitas I ordered wasn't even sizzling. The waitress only came to the table to check on us twice. When we received the check the waitress tells us the tip is already added to the check. A bill of $125.00 and $25 added as tip!!! I questioned why, the manager told us it was a New Jersey law. They add the tip if the bill is over $100 and if the table has 5 or more people! We have been to other NJ restaurants and the tip is NEVER added to the bill because our party is less than 5 people. Is this really a NJ Law or the restaurant law?!? Another waitress comes over and said "I heard the conversation and I just want to show you my check", we don't get paid much. I replied, so you decide to charge the customer the highest tip?? I said to him what about if the services is poor, he had nothing to say. Not a word came out his mouth!!! We are looking further into this supposed NJ Law!! We were regular customers but will never eat there again!!!
The place was packed when we came to dinner. The service was quick and efficient. But, as we left, I wondered WHY the place had been packed at 7:30 p.m. Is Plaza Alteca the best that Lancaster can do for a Mexican place? If so, I think Lancaster presents a golden opportunity for a family-run place that does Mexican cuisine the right way. My wife picked this place because of good Trip Advisor reviews. Based on my experience, the Trip Advisor reviewers either have never had good Mexian cuisine or prefer a dumbed-down version of it. My wife and I ordered margaritas and burritos, which any decent Mexican place should be able to deliver with no issues. The margaritas were weak and far too sugary. The burrtitos were covered in a thick cheesy sauce that made me wonder if I was eating in a place run by Wisconsin Cheeseheads. At least they didn't spoil the beer. If they had, I wold have dropped them to 1 star.
This restaurant was amazing. We were seated promptly upon arrival and acknowledged right away by our server. Before I even had my coat off, there were free chips and salsa on the table. My husband had a burrito combo, which he said was delicious, and I had the fajitas for one and the house margarita. The food was scrumptious, and they did not skimp on the booze in the margarita. We rarely visit the same restaurant twice but we loved it so much, we went back again the following night where we had fajitas for two. The prices were extremely reasonable and the food was fast and hot and fresh. We definitely recommend this establishment!
Stopped for a quick lunch and saw that the parking lot was packed, but we were greeted by a friendly hostess and were seated immediately. Almost every table was full as well as most of the seats at the bar, but our waitress appeared within second with a generous bowl of warm chips and salsa and took our drink order. They carry coke products and have a full bar for alcohol. Our waitress was friendly, personable and efficient too. Their menu is extensive...there is something to interest everyone. We both chose from their lighter lunch portions...steak burrito-fajitas with rice and beans. The filling of steak, onions and mushrooms was full of flavor. They were wrapped in flour tortillas and topped with melted cheese and a drizzle of sour cream. They were big enough that we both took half of our meals home and will have plenty for lunch tomorrow. The waitress returned to check on us several times, refilling our drinks and made sure we were satisfied...we definitely were! Although the place was packed, it appeared that everyone was being served efficiently, and we watched the staff moving about like a well-oiled machine. Their dining room and their restrooms were neat and clean as well. We were impressed and plan to return often!
I have dined here many times as a solo, with my family, and in large groups since moving to the Lancaster area almost a decade ago. I have to say that I have never personally had a bad experience. Anyone can have a bad experience anytime, anywhere, and I’m not trying to say this Plaza Azteca is perfect, but I have found this place to be very consistent over my time here after dozens of visits. I have found the atmosphere pleasant, the food good, the wait staff friendly, and the price extremely reasonable for the quantity of food you get.

Don’t waste your time coming here! We had a large group and the waiter bartender and even the manager were terrible! They complained about everything when we were ready to go forks and place to go we’re thrown on the table handed the check and said “it didn’t included the tip in the bill. I was floored he even said that we spend over 5/5 hundrydlarz every time we go and tip generously. We even tipped him and complained. The meal was great but the customer service needs worked on.
Extensive menu of Mexican dishes. One of the few places that will do guacamole at your table, so you can request "more lime," "more cilantro," or whatever "kickup" you like in your guac. Chips are crispy and "corny" as they should be. For some reason, they have a 4-enchilada entree that's $4 less than their 3-enchilada entree, so I always get the "4" and take half home for another meal! (I think it's because there's no rice in the 4-enchilada dish, but I'd rather pay $4 less for "no rice and 1 more enchilada" any day! Enchiladas were very flavorful and well-seasoned and cooked. Came out cool one time, but they heated them back up to HOT so that was OK with me. Service was great. I couldn't chew well, so asked for soft tortillas instead of chips for the guac and the server asked the manager and they said "OK." Manager came around and asked how everything was... very friendly. Good ambience in this place. We'll go often.
First time to this restaurant and can say I won't be going back any time soon. First impressions were favorable as the place was clean and comfortable. The menu had a lot to choose from although most of the dishes seemed expensive to me. Things went down hill from there. Service was S. L. .O. W. Margaritas were ordered with salt on the rim and came without. Then the refills were NOT the same type of drink as previous ones and had to be sent back. Of course , the waiter kept blaming the bartender. My son ordered some sort of appetizer that was absolutely swimming in oil and grease and was almost inedible. I ordered my dish to be made with steak and received chicken instead so it had to be sent back. The only part of our dining experience that went smoothly was paying for it.
We were seated promptly. Jesus, our server, was great - very nice. The food was served in an appropriate time frame and was very good.
We had a great evening with sizable servings of yummy food here! It was a minimal wait on a Saturday night (less than half an hour). Our only mistake was having eaten a big lunch. The guac made at the table was delicious! The food was solid Mexican cuisine. It's a chain, but a good one.
