We always stop here when we bike the NCR. It's one of the reasons I bike to stop at random cafes on the route. The service is great, food is delicious and what a lovely place.

The Monkton Hotel Cafe is a delightful stop right off the trail, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. I dropped in for a drink and a snack, and I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff.
The cafe offers a nice selection of snacks and beverages, ideal for a quick refuel. I enjoyed a refreshing drink that perfectly complemented my light bite.
What sets the Monkton Cafe apart is the variety of activities planned throughout the month. It’s clear that they’re committed to fostering a sense of community, and it’s a great spot to catch local events or simply enjoy the company of fellow visitors.
If you’re in the area, definitely make a point to stop by for a relaxing break. I’m looking forward to returning to check out their upcoming events!

Nice little cafe. Very convenient for a snack pre or post bike ride. Blueberry muffin was tasty and big.

We went here today and the two young ladies on staff watched us talk amongst ourselves about what to order then after we went to the register they told us they closed the kitchen early.. My mother in law was upset that they watched us, not greeting us at all then waiting until we spoke to them to let us know the Kitchen was closed due to lack of customers coming in. Disappointed and we always wanted to try this cafe out. Need to work on staff etiquette training.

This is my first time stopping here. It’s along the NCR trail, which is fantastic for walking or riding your bike. We stopped here to use the restroom while riding our bikes and noticed the Monkton hotel. They have a little café, so we got some food and a cup of coffee. The coffee had a good flavor (not weak) and my ham sandwich on toasted sour dough was great. Cute little place with a lot of history. They also have outside seating.
I could eat their BLT every day for the rest of my life and never tire of it. Truly it’s that good.

Made to order food created and served with care in an informal setting. Try the ice cream! This old hotel is adjacent to the historic North Central Railroad Trail (NCR). This railway carried Lincoln to Gettysburg in 1863 and in 1865 the Presidential Funeral Train. The former rail bed is now a gravel recreational path running between Cockeysville, Maryland and York, Pennsylvania.

Lovely little spot! They have a variety of options including sandwiches, salad, waffles, and ice cream! Staff were all so kind and helpful.
Vegetarian options: I had the grilled cheese and also a caesar salad and both were very tasty! Very generous portion of salad too!

Excellent food! We've come here for lunch several times and the food is consistently good! Today we tubed and then ate here for lunch afterwards. We love the chicken salad sandwich. Our group enjoyed their first lunch here and one even said that the pulled pork sandwich was one of the best tasting sandwiches he has had.
The best BLT I've ever had... ❤?
Cafe workers are not wearing gloves when preparing food.
My friend and I stopped in before our river activities. Joe was super nice and let us know everything on the menu was good. I ordered the bacon egg cheese croissant. Friend got the Strawberry smoothie. Very quick and satisfying. After the river trip stopped back in for the 2 scoop chocolate ice cream.
