We were really looking forward to trying Hook & Vine for my wife’s birthday, but the experience was frustrating. After waiting over an hour, our kids received their food, but ours never came. While the restaurant was moderately busy, we were reassured our food would be “out soon” and eventually had to leave hungry. We placed our order before a large party arrived and were informed that their order was the reason our food was late. Disappointing service overshadowed what could have been a good meal.

Super slow service, even early. Reservations mean noting expect to wait. Staff not in a hurry to please at the bar or restaurant. Knew this, went anyways. Regrets.

Great food, great drinks, friendly service. Great little place for a date night. Lots of people patron here so it must be consistently a positive dining experience for others also. Peeks of the ocean only a block or two away.

High-End Dining: Incredible Food, Inadequate Portions:
While I had hoped for a special dining experience with Hook and Vine, the combination of underwhelming portion sizes and high cost left my family and me feeling disappointed. Ultimately, our frustration stems from the disconnect between the premium prices and the portion sizes we received. This review is in no way meant to criticize the restaurant's quality, but rather to point out a clear issue between what folks pay for and what is received. The grilled chicken Caesar wrap I ordered was quite underwhelming. While the flavor of the ingredients was on point—the chicken was cooked well and the dressing had a nice tang—the overall execution was disappointing. The wrap was surprisingly small, and the filling was sparse, leaving it feeling empty and not very substantial. In addition to lack of chicken wrap I had, the portion size of the fries that came with each meal were also disappointing. I understand that higher-end restaurants mean higher quality ingredients but 12 to 15 fries weigh approximately 3 ounces. This is well below the average of 6 to 7 ounces that are generally served at high-end restaurants. This all may seem trivial but prior to this review, a simple Google search on this topic showed Im not the first to voice my concern when it comes to comparing the portion size to the price so hopefully this will be addressed but sadly I know it probably wont. Thank you for your time.

The food is excellent. I love the maple glazed brussels sprouts. Always a favorite to order.
The lunch we had was wonderful. We appreciate the local beers that were on draft. We were served quickly and checked on often. Everything was delicious.
Very, very good food and such a quaint little place in a cute town. We have another date planned to have lunch and we look forward to it!!

I’ve enjoyed dining in before, but I wouldn’t order online again.
Before placing my order, I called to ask about the wait time because DoorDash estimated 80 minutes for pickup. I explained that I wasn’t interested in waiting that long, and the staff assured me it would be less than 40 minutes. Unfortunately, I ended up waiting more than 80 minutes anyway — and the food wasn’t great.
The crab cakes and chicken tenders were fine, but the Brussels sprouts were swimming in a syrupy liquid, and the mashed potatoes had almost no flavor. The rest of the food was very mediocre as well.
The only item I’d consider ordering again is the pecan cup for dessert.
Overall, a disappointing experience, especially given that I called ahead specifically to confirm the wait time.

Our whole group loved this restaurant so much! We were a party of 8 and it took them no time to get us sat & served. We ordered a hand full of the appetizers to start and they were all very good. I had the fish of the day (blackened grouper) and hubs had the fish tacos- both were absolutely perfect. The food and cocktails were all DELICIOUS 😋 and the staff and owner were so sweet and accommodating! It's also perfectly located just a short walk to the pier & some really cute shops. Can't wait to come back and visit. Definitely recommend this spot! 💜💜💜

Ordered Southern fish and chips & meatloaf for lunch, tasty foods. There's an item charged we were skeptical that had to contact it through its website. The management replied the same night then a followup next morning which went into spam mail folder. The issue resolved after I spoke with manager.

Exceptional! We placed a decent sized take away order last night and had zero regrets. We ordered the tempura shrimp, pork belly, deviled eggs, crab dip, shrimp n’ grits, and the veggie lasagna (possibly two desserts 🙃). EVERYTHING was absolutely outstanding. I also appreciated how everything was labeled. The staff we engaged with were terrific as well.
As residents of NB, we are proud of you and will be returning. Thank you! 😊

Visited North Beach by myself for the day and had dinner at the Hook and Vine. Lots of creative cocktail options! I ordered one crabcake and it was huge and absolutely delicious. The service was perfect and I look forward to visiting again.
