Not what I expected. The sausage made the pasta greasy.

Long-time visitor to Owen's at Pike and Rose. Visited this past Sunday and was appalled. Sat at the bar and one of the bartenders kept eating his snacks and licking his fingers before serving drinks. No hand washing. He was constantly on his phone and couldn't be bothered. I saw him lick his fingers, grab a glass, and make a drink for a patron. Absolutely disgusting. Where's the standard?Food was mediocre. Asked for a tricolore salad with chicken: iceberg lettuce, meh dressing, overcooked chicken... I hate to say it because I had loved coming here before, but I won't be back.

Service was pretty bad! Sat in the bar, it was social hour for staff. They spent most of their time chatting around the bar. My server spent more time on his phone than serving his busy, Friday night section. Watched the bartender turn his back to the bar and sip on his alcohol then walk across the bar and drink his soda. All good no biggie, but at least make sure your customers have a drink too. Not from here and won’t be back but wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe just a bad night but sucky experience for sure

I came to Caruso’s after hearing so much about it with a couple of my friends and we were not disappointed! The food was great and they were accommodating of dietary restrictions which was nice. The burrata was absolutely delicious and definitely a menu highlight. The gnocchi a la genovese and the penne alla vodka were great dishes overall. Our drinks were pretty good as well and the tiramisu was decent. Ordered espresso at the end and had to ask a couple of times for it because it seemed as though they were a little understaffed. Coffee was delicious though.

Our server was very sweet but also very slow. For example, it took a very long time for bread and drinks to come out and the glass of wine I ordered came out after I had finished my meal. Everyone's dinner was delicious and decently priced(but no one was in love with the desserts).

Restaurant had a nice ambiance and was definitely on the louder side. Food was good, but everything was a bit too salty, coming from someone who usually does not mind salt. The service was okay, they seemed a bit understaffed. Our server was not the most attentive to us compared to their service for the nearby tables. Nice experience, but was definitely a little bit underwhelming.

I was really good excited to try Caruso's. I love an old school red sauce Italian joint. Unfortunately, my meal was disgusting, and I don't use that word lightly. It was so bad I had to have other people at the table verify it was actually that bad. I ordered the penne ala vodka. Unfortunately, it tasted like a cheap vodka shot and nothing like the delicious creamy pink sauce you usually get. It burned.my stomach it was so strong. The other pasta dishes ordered were mediocre at best. They didn't charge me for my dish as it was barely edible. But $72 for a weak caprese salad made with cherry tomatoes and two mediocre pasta dishes was absurd. I have had much better meals at my local pizza place anywhere on Long Island. It was everything NYers fear a DC Italian joint will be. Washingtonian should be embarrassed to put this in their Top 20.This is all after the waiter told us they had gluten free versions of two dishes and then had to come back and say they were wrong, they could not make a gluten free version. And I doubt the vodka they used was gluten free as wellGo to Sfoglina in Van Ness instead. There is no comparison.

Veal fracaise fabulous. Linguine and clams outstanding. Calamari and burrata salad great. The only complaint is some aspects of service are below the quality of the food. The food runner virtually threw the appetizer plates on the table in a haphazard manner.

Great food - excellent service- I love Italian food and took my NYC Aunt there and we both enjoyed it, (more than I expected). Our server was excellent. He was solicitous without being pushy.

First, service here is excellent. Very attentive, prompt, and they got everything right. Granted, it was midweek, rainy, and on the early side. Service was slower last year on a nicer evening in late Spring. The food is really good Italian, the best I've had in 3 years of living in the area. We had tricolore salad, eggplant rollatini, meatballs, and chicken Parmesan. And a chocolate cannoli. All delicious! And the marinara sauce rivals my own.

First time here and will return. Service was spot on and all of the food selections were enjoyable. Especially enjoyed the caprese antipasto. The chicken Parmesan and eggplant dish were also excellent. All in all it was a great dining experience.

We tried Caruso’s for restaurant week. I had seen a lot about it on social media, so I came in with high expectations and was a little let down with the meal. The alfredo with mushrooms was excellent, but got cold very quickly? Which is not something I’ve experienced / usually notice. The noodles were an incredible texture and thickness. The penne alla vodka was not nearly as good as the alfredo, which our waiter had warned us about but we wanted to try it anyways. It wasn’t really memorable. Overall, a nice pick for a good Italian meal but not something I would go out of my way to visit again. Oddly enough, the best dish was probably the caprese salad to start- a dish I usually don’t order because it’s so easily recreate-able at home. The tomatoes were delicious and the balsamic was perfect.

I was really looking forward to eating here, I read so much about it, and I love Italian food. My friend and I had caesar salad, chicken parmesan and Neapolitan ragu. Menu was uninspiring. The caesar salad was good, tho I prefer torn, not chopped lettuce. The chicken parm was just ok. The marinara sauce was tart and had a distinct taste of anise in it, which was very off-putting. I don't like licorice in my marina sauce and it ruined the main course for me, including the pasta w/marinara side dish. The neopolitan ragu had a deep, rich flavor but the over abundance of salt in the ragu sauce was overwhelming. Dessert (chocolate bomb w/3flavors of ice cream was ok. Would have been more special if they brought it out with the chocolate ball intact, not already split into 4 pieces. The server was excellent, very attentive. The only reason I didnt give a 5-star rating for service was b/c I specifically requested a birthday dessert thru OpenTable & they knew it was my friend's birthday (hostess mentioned it upon entry), but they forgot to do anything special for her dessert (like even just a candle). That put me in the awkward position of having to mention it to the server in front of my friend, which shouldn't happen. Overall, a pleasant atmosphere, and very good service but it's unlikely I'd return for the food. Wish it was a different outcome.
