We had a reservation but still had to wait 30 minutes. It was PACKED (peak dinner time on a Saturday) so it was extremely loud and busy. But our food was delicious and servers were friendly.
Great experience. The meats were excellent, as was the accompanying food. Only negatives are the noise level, which in turn impacts the ambiance.
Went to celebrate with my boyfriend and I, we hardly saw our server. We understood the restaurant was very busy but we seen our server maybe 2 times. We waited for our check for about 20 minutes, finally received it & it was the wrong check. Food was not worth the price we paid. Over all disappointed in this experience 😓 probably won't be going back anytime soon unfortunately.
An average dining experience. The steaks were mid. Only Picanha were good, everything else was tough.
As an encore to my first visit to Fogo de Chao on Veterans Day, this time I brought my wife over for her birthday dinner. As usual we were treated as if we were personal guests of the staff and the managers made sure we were satisfied with the wonderful service and food, by stopping at our table more than once. Thank you very much for the generous free desert for the birthday girl! Our server, Angelica was super attentive and always cheerful with a beautiful smile, despite being so busy. The table-side servers listened to our preferences and consistently brought over our choice of meats straight from the grill. The coffee and deserts were heavenly and perfect bookends to a beautiful evening of amazing food with my wife, and wonderful Brazilian hospitality. I highly recommend to anyone who hasn't experienced Fogo before, to begin their experience at this Bethesda location. Thank you, and we will definitely be back!
Frozen seafood. Rarely brought out better cuts of meat. Quality low. Experience has gotten worse throughout the years
My family always has a great time at Fogo de Chao. The staff - all wonderful, the food is great, the caipirinhas are excellent
Food was ok but took forever for some cuts to come out and some cuts never even came out. Also seems like they got rid of the grilled pineapple which was one of the best things about Fogo.
Awesome , great salad bar and meat service. Premium cuts and plenty of food at the Best of Brazil. Definitely coming back. This restaurant made for a fantastic birthday. Creme Brule cake is to die for.
Fantastic experience - ALWAYS! Yes, the noise level is high, but that's just evidence of people laughing and having a good time. Which makes it a great place for children and babies to "not" be heard! Having lived in Brazil for several years, we can attest to the quality and authenticity of the food and - especially - the CAIPIRINHAS!! They are superb!! We have celebrated birthdays, holidays - and on this particular occasions, they accommodated us with late seating when they were extremely busy. Waiters and waitresses were so very attentive. In short, what more could one ask for? The meat is beyond perfectly! Our favorite - the cheese bread - keeps them busy restoring the bowls, time after time. We love it all - from the fried bananas to the polenta. I love the black beans; the farafa; the oranges, and the rice. The salad bar is fantastic! You just can't go wrong to choose Fogo de Chao, in whichever town you choose. We've tried them all. (But we do like Bethesda the best!)
Restaurantji Recommends
The food was great, service kind of slow down by the end but was probably for the volume of people.
I understand it is a popular restaurant, however, when people have reservations and you may hold them for 15 min, but we made it 5 mins before our time and were not seated until almost 35 mins later. A of the servers were very efficient and many people checked on our table, but it was so many diners squeezing in and out around you (bumping your chair) that it was not a good dinning experience. People waiting to be seated weee blocking the entire entrance and exit, not a good look, really a fire code violation. Just passing on my thoughts because I was very uncomfortable this time and I have been there numerous times.
Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The manger accused me of lying at our table in front of clients I had taken out, just an awful showing customer service wise. I had made my reservation through their website directly on the $49 rate, and at no point was I asked if I wanted something different. When the check came, it was $65 per person. Their website advertisements are incredible misleading, do not trust their customer service at the restaurant or on a company level.
To start, the food we received was delicious and the staff were friendly. The event overall however, was nothing I expected. When we first arrived, the line for the event was to the door which we at first thought was because we were waiting to be sat. But shortly after we noticed that we were in line to pay up front, which isn't necessarily an issue, but not how dinner parties have been in my experience. The line guidance was very unorganized. We received different directions from different staff which made the start to the event very chaotic. We then noticed that the hors d'oeuvres were left unattended, unheated or chilled, for people to talk over and heightened the risk of flies. That was very unappealing and misleading since the invitation said "passed bar bites." Next, there were only 2 small high top tables which were not suitable for the guest count. There was no seating provided which was not indicated in the event details, and the space was quite small for the amount of guests present. Me and my guest had no where to eat or stand, so we had to resort to the end of the presentation table near the exit door which was very unpleasant. During the event we noticed that there was only one server bringing out the wagyu and ribeye samples. The issue wasn't that there was one server, but the fact that the one server had a small plate of samples that clearly did not serve the entire crowd. People had to run up to the server when they saw him coming which was again, very chaotic. Not to mention, not everyone received the same sample let alone the same amount of samples which was completely unfair. Especially since we all paid the same amount of money and time to enjoy the event. Nobody informed us of the types of samples that were being passed, no details shared, just a grab and go which really took away from the elegance the event could've had. Overall, I was disappointed with this event and don't think I'd attend another unless major changes are implemented.
I attended the Wagyu & Wine event at the North Bethesda location on November 6 and was extremely disappointed by how poorly the event was executed—especially compared to how it was advertised. The email promotion promised a luxurious evening with a side-by-side tasting of Wagyu Ribeye and Bone-in Ribeye, along with three drink tickets to enjoy pours of exceptional VIK wines like La Piu Belle Rosé and O'Leão Red Blend. It sounded like an indulgent seated tasting experience. In reality, the setup was cramped and chaotic: only two small high-top tables for 25–30 guests, forcing everyone to stand while juggling wine and food. There was no comfortable space to enjoy what was supposed to be a premium culinary experience. Most frustrating of all, the VIK wines were not available or not clearly offered, despite being the centerpiece of the promotion. Even the manager I spoke with expressed surprise at how the event had been arranged. When I showed them a separate email offer I'd received for the $49 Best of Brazil dinner, they kindly allowed us to use it instead—and that dinner was much better: we had a proper table, seated service, and the classic Fogo experience I've always enjoyed. Unfortunately, the Wagyu & Wine portion of the night was a letdown. I hope Fogo will consider better logistics, honest advertising, and clear setup descriptions for future events. The current approach risks damaging the trust of loyal customers who expect quality from the Fogo name.
