Captain's Galley Crab Cake Shack

This this place has the best crab cakes we've ever had. Not just a little better, incredible crab cakes. Every bite has another massive chunk of crab meat in it. Very tasty.
We also got crab legs, which were delicious and lots of meat in them. My bacon-wrapped scallops were also phenomenal.
It's a small shop, from what I understand and old pizza place, so there's only four tables available, so keep that in mind, if you're looking to dine in. We liked this place so much, we are there twice within a 4 day trip to OC.
This place knocks it out of the park.

I'd say they have one of the best crab cakes in all of OCMD! Get em broiled for supper and grab 1 or 2 fried to throw in the skillet with eggs the next morning fod breakfast. OMG, sooo good perfectly crispy shell and creamy inside. Captains Galley is the spot. Bonus points for the hush puppies!

I came down Monday for my favorite meal of the year. Crab cakes are so, so good!! And the young man at the counter was super polite.

stopped in today to try the crab cakes. I must say they were good and I enjoyed the potatoe wedges as well. I'm a huge fan of woodys in Dewey and have to say this is very close to theirs as well. will definitely stop in again!

Used to go to the Captain’s Galley II restaurant several times a year, they had what I always considered the absolute best, all lump crab cakes anywhere. Restaurant closed down several years ago and I was heartbroken. Searched the eastern shore high and low and nothing ever really scratched that itch and replaced them. This year for Xmas my mom got me a four pack delivered and I am a happy man. Just like I remember, fresh tasting all lump no filler and just perfection. I am happy this recipe survived and was brought back. Wish you guys continued success and will see you in the summer.

Your online site says "open" yet when my husband arrived at 11:15am this morning to place a takeout order, there was a sign on the door saying closed until February 7th. Don't you think that is very important information to post online? Very disappointed 😞

My go to seafood place was sold out of what I wanted, so I decided to try Captain's Galley....I called ahead to confirm that they had lump crab meat, and shrimp - I was told yes, by a very friendly woman. I placed my order for a 1/2 lb of steamed shrimp, light on the seasoning, and 1 lb of lump crab meat (unfrozen). I was greeted upon arrival, which was nice, and the establishment was very clean. I proceeded to pay for my order, and then went on my way. The shrimp was seasoned exactly how I requested, but it was definitely steamed way longer than it should have been. The shrimp were tough, and the shells were extremely hard to get off. The taste just wasn't there either. I made crab cakes with the crab meat, and it was rather tasteless, with very few lumps, in comparison to what I'm used to buying. Maybe it was an off day for them, I'm not sure, but the experience wasn't great.

Probably one of the best crab cakes in Maryland. The crab cake was bigger than the burger we had gotten and it was all crab meat and no filler. Worth it to get for carry out .

We dined inside today. It was our first time at this establishment. I've been reading great reviews on the OC Foodies page, and thought we'd give it a try. We were NOT disappointed. One, if not, the best crabcake I've ever had. Woody's in Dewey is excellent too, but this one is beyond stuffed with crab meat, the most minimal amount of filler I've ever encountered, and broiled to perfection, without being an over seasoned cake. I got the special which was a crab cake, steamed shrimp and one side for $29 and my boyfriend got a crab cake sandwich. This establishment is located in the same shopping center as Food Lion, and they only need a day's notice for frozen cakes to go. They also ship product too!!!! We will definitely be back! Thank you for a terrific meal, and knowing what a cake with hardly any filler looks like.
