Beautiful Place

My family and I have been coming here for years, and we really miss the old menu and the quality of the food. Ever since the changes, it just hasn’t been the same. The menu feels more limited, and the food doesn’t quite justify the price anymore. That said, we still enjoy the atmosphere and always appreciate the welcoming environment.

We have eaten at the Yacht Club many times over the years. However, there is a new vendor and the quality of food has gone down significantly. On their website the club offers cream of crab soup and a wedge. However, it is not offered on their menu which the waitress confirmed. The club was not that busy based on the empty tables. It took nearly fifty minutes to receive our meals. We will not be returning because it is a beautiful venue. The waitress was super nice.

As a local and someone who has worked as a bartender for the past three years, I was extremely disappointed with my experience.

The bartender took my ID and repeatedly questioned whether it was actually me, even suggesting it could have belonged to my brother. After I handed her my credit card and explained that my brother had recently passed away and that wasn’t possible, her response was, “Well, my parents passed away, so I can one-up you.” I found that comment incredibly insensitive and completely unprofessional.

I fully understand the importance of checking IDs—I’ve been in the industry long enough to know that verifying identification is part of the job. However, there’s a respectful and professional way to handle those situations. Even after seeing both my ID and credit card, she still seemed reluctant to serve me, and the interaction only became more uncomfortable.

To make matters worse, the Strawberry Starburst drink I ordered had a hair in it. Between the poor quality of the drink and the way I was treated, the overall experience was unacceptable.

As a local, this experience was disappointing enough that I won’t be returning. Verifying someone’s identification is one thing, but showing basic compassion, professionalism, and attention to quality should always come with the job.

I came out with a couple friends to the outside bar. The female bartender with the camo hat and tattoos proceeded to stare at my friend’s ID for a long period of time. As someone who’s been in the service industry for over 13 years and an OC local, I understand the importance of proper carding. My friend proceeded to hand his credit card with his name on it for additional proof. She continued to insist it could’ve been his brother’s credit card and when we said that he passed away she insinuated that he stole it. She also said she could “out dead him” after sharing personal info and said “we can fight.” I understand she was trying to be humorous but her facial expressions and tone did not match what was stated. Her demeanor and attitude made us feel extremely unwelcome and the cherry on top was finding a hair in my friend’s drink. I have genuinely never felt as uncomfortable at any establishment, and it’s a shame because the other staff and customers seemed so kind. Please address this situation before this happens to someone who isn’t as forgiving. P.s. my friend is local to Berlin and has never had this issue before.

The female bartender wearing the camo hat and tattoos at the outside bar today was extremely rude to someone in my group. She questioned whether the ID belonged to him and claimed it must have been his brother’s. Even after he showed a credit card with the exact same name as the ID, she continued giving him dirty looks and acting like she didn’t believe him.

We explained that it couldn’t have been his brother because his brother had recently passed away. Instead of apologizing or dropping the issue, she responded, “Then there’s even more of a possibility it could be your brother.” That was an incredibly insensitive comment about a very personal and painful situation.

As a Berlin local, I won’t be returning after that interaction. I manage a restaurant in Ocean City, and if one of my employees spoke to a guest like that, they would no longer be employed.

On top of that, the drinks were not good—we didn’t even finish them—and one of them had a hair in it. Having the bartenders wear their hair down while working outside on a windy day is not a good look.

Do better.

I had lunch at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club the other day with my nephew and young niece. The service could not have been better! Friendly, quick, gave my niece some crayons and a coloring sheet. We had the truffle fries -- very tasty and nice size portion. My nephew had the shrimp tacos. He very much enjoyed! My little niece had the chicken fingers and fries. She also enjoyed it very much, perfect portion. We brought one chicken finger and a few fries home. I had a delicious smash burger with fries. Delish! We were outside on the lovely patio with the great view. This is a great place to have a nice meal, or just enjoy a couple drinks & apps at the outside bar. Casual, but so well maintained. Beautiful patio, beautiful view. Recommend!!
