I've been frequenting Mackie's since before COVID-19 struck. It feels like ages ago, the food remains consistently amazing. The ribs have incredible flavor and are perfectly sauced, achieving a delightful balance between the meat and the sauce. I'm curious if it's possible to request different sauce flavors? The chicken salad surpassed my expectations, and the cornbread, while a tad dry, was brought back with some butter, likely how it was meant to be enjoyed. The indoor seating area is wonderful. While I couldn't dine in today, I'm looking forward to staying longer. The ample space and separate full bar area are great. Today, I had the pleasure of chatting with Cam Mackie, learning about post-COVID changes, business plans, and exciting new menu items. I'm eager to come back to try out the new items.

3.22.24 I had read great reviews of this establishment so was excited to give it a try. I came with a friend on a Friday evening. There are a few narrow parking spaces in the front and an unpaved lot to the side. Upon entering, there is a bar to the left, a pickup counter in the center, and dining area to the right. My friend and I sat in the dining area. We found a table and thought a server would come around, but learned that orders are placed at the front. I asked the friendly owner what he recommended. He was helpful in assisting me narrow down my sides. I ordered a combo of 1/2 rack of baby back ribs and baked beans to go for my hubby and 3/4 pulled pork with mac/crabmeat and cornbread for my sides. I also ordered their homemade lemonade. My friend ordered 1/2 rack of baby back ribs and sliced brisket and selected coleslaw and the potato salad for her sides. The food is brought out to your table and came out less than five minutes later. Record speed! The highlight for me was the lemonade, cornbread, and mac & crabmeat. My pulled pork was dry and bland. I added sauce which helped. My friend was not happy with her meal with the exception of the coleslaw. She said the ribs were dry and the brisket was saucy. My hubby said the ribs were dry, but the beans were good. Cups, water, containers, and condiments are self-serve. There are two unisex restrooms. Overall I loved the friendly staff. They came around to clear tables. Sides and lemonade were delicious, however, the barbecue itself was lacking oomph.

I finally went to Mackie's in Olney last week. It was my first time visiting their establishment and all I have to say is holy smokes. The food is great quality and done very well. We ordered pulled pork, brisket, spare ribs, cornbread, Mac and cheese, Texas beans, coleslaw, potato salad, it was all incredible! The owners are extremely nice and welcoming. I went last Friday with a couple of friends and my wife and was already back two days later with another friend to give it a try. If you're looking for a great bbq spot, I highly recommend Mackie's. You won't find any other bbq like it in the area.

This is a casual restaurant with top-notch service and absolutely delicious food. I've driven past a number of times and never knew there was such good food here! My dad chose to go there for his birthday, so a bunch of us went - and every single one of us was happy, even my (adult) son who had just eaten "lunch" an hour earlier. He wolfed down his food and then had a piece of cheesecake, too, which he said is better than any cheesecake he's ever had. I felt the same way about the baked beans! Ribs great, pulled pork wonderful, everything homemade except the fries (which I didn't eat). And they couldn't have been any friendlier! Love this place; looking forward to going back!

Such good food! It was a soft open when we went and clear they were working on process and communication but it did t hurt their service or food. Brisket - delicious!!! Wings and ribs were outstanding. Will give the Mac and cheese another shot because it wasn't as good as the rest but I think they will improve it. Highly recommended. Take out service was also fantastic including the phone order process.

Ordered catering for my teen’s bday with her friends and our family - so delicious! We had two bbq meats that were both terrific, and the Mac n cheese was a hit. I ordered double and it was still almost all gone. Cornbread was some of the best I’ve had. Delivered on time and warm. Highly recommend! Thanks, Fred!

We finally made it to Mackie’s BBQ yesterday after hearing so many great things. It was a Friday night and the place was getting crowded. They have a bar and then a sitting area for dining. We chose to dine in and were able to find a seat pretty quickly. The menu has a good selection of meats and sandwiches and does not overwhelm with too many choices. We ordered the sampler which came with two selections and meat and two sides. We opted for the brisket and the pulled pork with a side of cornbread and coleslaw. The brisket was super tender and tasted amazing! By far one of the best briskets I’ve had. The pulled pork was good but would like a bit more seasoning. The cornbread is is good and is like a loaf vs crumbly, I liked this better than other cornbread I’ve had. The coleslaw was good and was not heavy on the mayo. The service was super fast and very friendly! The atmosphere was the only downside given the noise level, it was pretty loud which made it hard to talk as it got busier. We definitely will be coming back here again soon!

As barbecue enthusiasts we really truly wanted to like Mackie’s. We waited 5 months after they opened to give them a chance to iron out the kinks and to nail down their food. While we really enjoyed the atmosphere & service, our bartender, she was excellent, we were left disappointed with our food experience.Pros:Nicely decorated restaurant with comfortable seating and nice bar area. I really like the exterior mural with the Maryland and American flags. They did a great job of decorating an old and outdated building.Attentive and very personable bartender. Lightning fast food service.Cons:We ordered a two meat sampler which consisted of brisket, pork ribs, Texas, barbecue beans, and mac & cheese. It was plenty for two.Their food is served in little aluminum pans with paper plates, and plasticware. Our brisket was fork tender and it was a decent portion. However, we could not taste the brisket because it was swimming in barbecue sauce. It was not good. The pork ribs were dry although some parts were moist and tender. It came pre sauced, but thankfully it was not drenched. It was a solid portion as well. Of the two meats this was the better option. The Texas baked beans tasted like they opened a can of bushes baked beans and called it a day. They are supposed to have brisket in them, although I did not find any in my portion. If you like bushes baked beans, you will like these. The mac & cheese was good and a solid option for a side dish. It was a nice balance of noodles and cheese.I really wanted to like Mackie’s and I’m disappointed that I did not. They have several other restaurants, so I was hoping that after five months in they would’ve nailed down the food at this location as well.

We wanted BBQ and went out of our way to make it over to Mackie’s, and it was well worth the trip! The food hit the spot, the staff is friendly, and the level of hospitality is top tier. Ribs fell off the bone, the wings and sides were delicious, and the brisket is “my picky kid doesn’t eat anything” approved.

I chose this restraunt because of the many cars I would always see in their parking lot. After today's visit my car will be one of the many. The pulled pork sandwich was moist and flavorful. The bacon Mac was loaded with bacon, and the corn bread was a sweet compliment to the BBQ flavors. My order was a to-go order. I can't wait to come back for a sit-down dinner and check out the bar menu.

Walked in to restaurant section and sat down with family. Menus supplied, but you go to counter to order. In a reasonable amount of time (the place was mostly empty at 5:30PM) the food was brought out to the table. The Mrs had a Caesar salad with chicken. Delicious and large serving, so she took some home. I tried it the next day and the chicken was excellent (pulled smoked chicken, not strips like most salads). My son had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and he said it was very good. I had brisket sandwich with potato salad. Brisket was perfect! Tender, flavorful, quality meat with little fat. The 2 sauces on the table were regular and spicy. I'm not a big fan of painful sauces, but I had to try out the spicy. I'd describe it as zesty, not spicy, and it was my sauce of choice. Potato salad was good with a mayo/vinegar balance. I made it better by adding a touch of the spicy bbq sauce. When it's time to pay, you walk up to the counter and tap your credit card on the ipad and the screen asks how much tip do you want to leave, 15%, 18%, 20%.... When you order at the counter, pay at the counter, and refill your own waters, 15% seems a bit much. Maybe I'm cheap in my old age? The building has been a lot of things over the past 40 years from biker bar to Italian restaurant. It's decorated in bbq restaurant style, very casual, open, and simple. With help hard to find, I see the wisdom of ordering and paying at the counter.
