Loved the outside seating
Always pleasant. Mostly do Sunday Brunch for Breakfast. Always pick Chef's Special, and skip the great menu. Chef can't be beat!
Scrambled to find a place to eat after hiking and stumbled across this gem! Wasn't sure if they would have outdoor+dog friendly seating but lo and behold they do! Excellent food. Coral recommended the duck fat fries and she was not wrong about their deliciousness! Steak cooked to what I can only describe as a SUCCULENT level. If hiking near here again I am swinging by for fries!
We had our first visit to Backfin Blues Bar & Grill and the experience was exceptional! From the friendly and professional service to the delicious food and inviting atmosphere, everything was perfect. The filet steak was incredible, and the homemade Broken Potatoes were outstanding. We topped our dinner off with the homemade Key Lime Pie, which was great. Definitely a 5-star experience — we’ll be back again very soon!
The Chef's Omelet was absolutely delicious! Yes, that is a lobster claw on top.
Cierra is a great server, and the drinks were very tasty.
Backfin never disappoints!
I love everything about it but it was a little pricey I would go back the food was good the service was great
It is one of our go to dinner places. They have the absolute best crab dip. Didn't know I liked grits until I had them there. Never had a disappointing meal. Love, love, love!
Sincerely, Bob is the best chef around. Fine dining cuisine in small town cozy and friendly atmosphere. My fav spot to treat myself. You won’t be disappointed if you desire beyond basic.

This is one restaurant that is so worth dining at. The menu, the food, the spirits, and the service are just wonderful.
Parking: Located in a small town on the Susquehanna River that has marinas, a bar restaurant on the water etc that attracts many people especially during the summer can make parking difficult during weekends in the summer...but dinner at Backfin is worth the parking situation.

Stopped in for dinner while in the area. Background Blues Bar& Grill is located in the small town of Port Deposit along the Susquehanna River. They are an upscale American restaurant. We had octopus ceviche, crab cakes, and lamb chops. Everything was excellent. The service was friendly and efficient as well. We will certainly return.

This place was amazing! We were at great wolf lodge and wanted some good food. This place did not disappoint! Everything was amazing…the duck fries, scallops, sirloin, lamb and crab dip. The chef does not hold back..we left so full! They even helped us celebrated my son’s 3rd birthday.

I recently had brunch at Black and Blues Restaurant in Maryland. The restaurant looked inviting from the outside and is situated in a charming town near the water. However, the view from the outdoor dining area is now partially blocked by new condos that have been built behind the restaurant. Although it was warm outside, the patio fan offered some relief.
The food was just okay. The burger was decent, but the short-rib grilled cheese was disappointing—it was excessively greasy and the bread was soggy. Some guests in my party also mentioned that the waffles were cold, but I could overlook that. Additionally, the porch area was becoming overrun with ants, which was quite off-putting.
The main reason I won’t be returning is an unpleasant observation made by a member of my dining party. They noticed that our waitress went into the restroom, skipped washing her hands, and only used the sink to check her hair in the mirror. While I understand that such incidents can happen, this particular experience, combined with the average quality of the food, significantly diminished my overall impression of the restaurant.

Fire and Ice tuna was a good appetizer. French onion soup was oddly sweet, strange for that dish. The calamari with banana peppers was a good idea gone awry. Easily half the dish was banana peppers. The mushroom ravioli was the biggest disappointment in a poor food evening. Watery extremely salty broth, rather than a savory creamy one. You'd expect more for a $30 plate of ravioli.
