I’m Vietnamese and grew up eating banh mi from Eden Center all my life. Banh mi is one of my favorite Vietnamese foods, and I’m extremely picky about them. I’ve never found a Maryland spot that was good until Ba Le opened. Their #1 Special is my go-to and I ask for extra mayo. The bread is perfectly crackly on the outside and soft inside. Perfect ratio of meat & pate. Pickled veggies are crunchy, a lil vinegary, and a lil sweet…SO good! And the customer service is really friendly.
The sandwiches are definitely more expensive than what I’m used to paying, but I’m just happy to FINALLY have good banh mi in Maryland. My only feedback is I wish they had some sort of a “Buy 5, get 1 free” deal like many of the Eden Center shops.

Just came and it's sooo mid, for context I grew up in Houston and went to some GOOD banh mi places. I had the BBQ pork and beef brisket soup (combo).

I ordered the basa fish sandwich. I assumed it would be a typical banh mi.
The bread was okay, a bit crispy, which was nice, but lacking texture as a good banh mi would have, as in a baguette.
The fish was fine; no complaints. What was weird was the pickled vegetables, something I like very much on a banh mi, but these were super sweet, so I didn’t enjoy them, at all. It was like having sugar on a sandwich. 😖

Overpriced banh mi and almost everything else. The Ba Le in Fall Church is much better

The Vietnamese specialty sandwich has no flavor. The meat slices are too thick, and the bread is stale. Overall, the sandwich is not made the same as at other Ba Le locations. Since Ba Le is a franchise business, the food should be consistent across all locations, but unfortunately, it is not.

Bang mi had no flavor. No mayo butter just page. Banh mi dac biet (5/10), missing carrot vegetable and Banh mi thit nuong (pork) was so salty and sucked. I threw both away. Wasted $45 for 4 bread.

Wasn't impressed with the foods, the sandwich looked messy when I opened it up, fermented pork had to much red color in it and the smoothie had no taste. Wouldn't go back!
I got the red pork banh mi. Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy. It was so flavorless. The only thing I could taste is the white onion. Onions don’t belong on banh mi traditionally. My guess is they use white onions to hide the odor of old meat. I’ve had a stomach ache all day after eating this. I won’t be back. I’d recommend taking a 30 minute drive to the capital of viet food in the dmv.

I went opening day and was expecting great things with the #1 special banh mi (they even bragged about how good the bread is and that it is baked daily), but when I got home and ate it I thought it was kind of dry and stale. Very underwhelming, considering I was waiting a long time for this place to open and thought it would be a great addition right next to my house.

Hard to justify when:
1. The bread is tough & dry
2. The sandwiches are small for the price
2. Hello Vietnam isn't too far away
4. There's stiff competition in Rockville Pike
At least my Thai iced tea was fine!
