not much of a food selection on the Sunday morning I went around 9am. A few pastries, no hot brkfst sandwiches that I could see. Asked for a large cappuccino and the person behind the counter simply said "no". I just stared at her a few seconds not knowing what to say and she finally clarified they only have cappuccino in small. so I ordered a small and moved on. Can't say I'll necessarily go back even though I'm there every week for a group meet. Probably will get my coffee elsewhere nearby.

Coffee is fine. That’s it. It’s just fine. Nothing outstanding like some of the reviews would have you believe.The pastry case was very empty and had about 3 items to choose from. I opted out of ordering food since everything looked old.The service was bizarre and not welcoming. The two employees (I think mom and son) both looked miserable and clearly did not want to be there. I was not greeted upon entering, I was not thanked for my purchase, but they have the audacity to ask for a tip. The barista seemed very bothered any time I asked a question. It was not a warm and welcoming experience. Honestly, even if the coffee was amazing, I would not return based on the service alone.Atmosphere: it’s dark in there which gives a chill vibe. It would be a nice place to meet a friend for coffee or get some work done, but I won’t be returning.

Stumbled upon this place by accident and so glad I did! I actually live 3 minutes from this place and have driven every day just to have coffee here. It’s delicious! I get the decaf americano and it’s so smooth. I love that the owner roasts the beans right in the store!

I really loved coming here! I came here after a short work day and wanted to be inspired. And I just love how low key but amazing this place is. It's not flashy but it's beautifully decorated inside. They don't have a plethora or fancy coffee flavors but what they do have is really good coffee! I just got a simple caramel latte and it was delicious! I also purchased a pistachio raspberry croissant and it was yummm! The baristas are nice and cordial and I appreciate that. Definitely will be frequenting this place a lot!

Warm, Friendly, Informative, Courteous service. I appreciate that my questions were answered with respect and a smile. I had not had Ethiopian coffee before and our barista was nice and she didn't make us feel as if it was a nuisance to answer our questions. I ended up going with a Chai latte however, it was a smooth blend that wasn't too sweet and didn't taste commercial. The atmosphere was also quite welcoming.

Black lion coffee is located in the epicenter of silver spring, and part of the new apartment built recently by the housing agency .The coffee HSE is highly convenient for sipping coffee & socializations. unfortunately the downside is the tables aren’t clean that much, you will find table with coffee cup and food trays in most of the time. You can easily understand the place isn’t managed wisely, probably it’s due to the factor that it’s a family business, the staffs , in most ways, do not care , that much to clean the place other during closing. Thus, the customers are expected to clean before sitting. It’s unfortunate
