China Jade Rockville (located in a strip mall next to Shady Grove metro station) is definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant gems that I've eaten at throughout the District-Virginia-Maryland area. The service was excellent, the waiters always give us recommendations for our meal that was very, very helpful! The dishes you MUST try at China Star are Chengdu Mapo Tofu, Spicy wonton (hong you chao shou), and steamed chicken in spicy szechuan sauce (kou shui ji), pictures below.

My husband and I have keep it in regular rotation alongside China Bistro (Mama's Dumplings), and Sichuan Jin River. Becky and Wendy are incredibly hospitable, and the food is consistently spot-on. We especially come for their authentic Szechuan and Cantonese dishes — always flavorful, always satisfying. A must-try! Generous portions deliver excellent value at a fair price.
