Don’t let the name fool you—Denise Bakery on Veirs Mill Road is so much more than just baked goods. This hidden gem serves up homestyle Latin American cuisine with generous portions and fresh, bold flavors that truly stand out.
We especially enjoyed the pupusas—perfectly cooked and packed with flavor—and the fresh fruit drinks, which were refreshing and vibrant. The subs came on a light, airy roll that made each bite a delight. And the fried yuca with dipping sauce? Absolutely delicious and a perfect side.
A warm, authentic spot with food made from the heart. Highly recommend!
I’ve been a loyal customer of Denis Bakery for years, and their bread and tamales are consistently delicious! The regular tamales are amazing, full of flavor, and always fresh. However, I personally don’t recommend the tamales de elote—they’re just not my favorite.
As for the service, it can be hit or miss. The lady who runs the place is super friendly, but there have been times when the customer service has been pretty terrible. Some staff can be very rude, which takes away from the overall experience. Still, the quality of the food keeps me coming back. Just be prepared for some inconsistencies in how you’re treated.

Food quality and freshness are terrible. I bought 2 cheese pupusas and other food items, and when I got home, this is what they served me... Burned pupusas. Better off going to Pupuseria Doña

Good service
The food is very tasty and the people who serve are very friendly.
This restaurant is the worst, cold food and bananas super hard as a stone, none of that food was edible, and I called to speak with the manager to file a complaint and they told me that I had already spoken with the owner and the owner what He did in the restaurant he talked to me and left with no apologies or anything so I don't recommend that place. This restaurant is the worst, cold food and bananas super hard as stone, none of that food was edible, and I called to speak with the manager to file a claim and they told me that I had already spoken to the owner and the owner what He did in the restaurant that he spoke to me and he left no apologies or anything for that reason I do not recommend that place.
Very mediocre service. They do not pay attention to what the client asks for paying attention to the television or his cell phone. and they are slow as who. The food is decent but you have to arrive early because of the slow service. If you order to go… double check your order because they often make mistakes.

Good prices ,quality not bad.
Today I got 2 tamales, one filled with chicken and one filled with beans but barely any fillings inside ?! To be honest, this is the worst tamales I have ever eaten. Both are soaked with water barely any taste! In summary, they both tasted so bland! We understand that you guys need to make a profit out the business but at least make them taste better for the price we pay ?! No wonder this place has one star reviews
