Dolan Uyghur Restaurant

Everything was great! I recommend the spicy tofu (tastes like really good mapo tofu), piter manta (tastes like the samsa but with soup on the inside of the dumpling) royal laghman (yummy chewy noodles), rock pot soup (best comfort soup with excellent presentation), and the samsa. 💓 The staff members were helpful and friendly. The overall ambiance was serene and relaxing. I liked the elevated ceiling with beautiful lanterns.

We were in the neighborhood for the first time looking for halal food and found Dolan! The food came out fast and was very good. We recommend the korma chop rice noodles which was shareable for two people. We also got the chicken burger (in a pocket roti) and of course, the honey cake! The restaurant is aesthetically very nice with outdoor setting as well. Great spot to take family and friends. The prices were surprisingly reasonable for the area! The parking lot next door is free for 1.5 hours and a few dollars after that.

The food is not seasoned well. The rock soup tastes slightly saltier than plain water. Royal noodles had good texture but had such basic flavoring with no depth. Service is very slow. Staff is just chitchatting while we were eagerly waiting for service.

Was in Rockville and wanted to try something interesting, found this place and ordered takeout. Tried the beef samsa and Korma Chop noodles with beef, medium spice level. Both delicious! The samsa’s dough was buttery and tender, the beef nicely flavored. The Korma chop noodles had a good bite to them, the beef and veggies well cooked and spiced just right for me. Could have had a little less oil but overall a delicious treat!

I've been here 3 times. It's always great to find Xinjiang restaurants, but out of all of the local similar restaurants, service is the worst part. Maybe that's a culture thing, but slow non-existent waiter services with high prices won't win customers.

The portions are huge! Before you order, consider that each plate is enough for 2 people. (That's a good thing once you know that, something the waiter could tell you but don't).

For my 3rd visit - decided to order online. When I got to the restaurant to pickup the order, all three staff members at the front were confused. Then asked for the chowdirect order number. Disappeared for 6 or 7 minutes and when all 3 came back, didn't say anything. I had to inquire once again and they said it would be 7 to 10 mins more. Basically they didn't start cooking the order until I arrived, rather a waste of time.

Final verdict: food is good, service is bad, ordering online is broken.
