This is the cleanest Chinese restaurant in the DMV area, with dishes that are not only tasty but also visually appealing. The owner is very friendly and goes out of their way to personally serve customers.
The environment of this restaurant is clean and tidy. Every dish has a very authentic flavor. The service is also excellent and parking is very convenient. I will recommend it to my friends.
This cozy restaurant makes me feel like the kitchen in my mum’s house. The food is delicious and service is always good. I love the fish stew and typical Taiwanese dishes there. One of my favorite place to go in Rockville.
Horrible expensive food
Best hot n sour soup!!!!
This place has great food. We’ve been there a couple of times for lunch and both times we have left more than satisfied with everything. You should really try their egg rolls and duck. My one negative star is in relation to the crooked tree located right outside. I wish they could do something about it. It is getting more and more crooked and could be a little dangerous. If for any reason you have kids playing around there they could get hurt.
I grew up in this area and recently moved back nearby, so getting to walk just 6 minutes to Mama Wok for dinner was a nostalgic treat—I hadn’t been back in over 10 years. The restaurant has been renovated and now feels much more open and modern. They’ve really focused their menu around Chinese cuisine, offering a great variety of dishes we typically love, like roasted duck, steamed dumplings, Fei Teng fish fillet, three cups chicken, and hot chili sauce beef.
We started with the black fungus mushroom garlic cucumber appetizer, which was cool, refreshing, and full of flavor. Then we shared the Szechuan-style dry hot pot, loaded with shrimp, fish balls, sliced meat, and lotus root. It was bold, spicy, and packed with texture. We also tried the eggplant dish, which was absolutely delicious—tender and richly sauced.
The food felt authentic and satisfying, and they also have familiar classics like spring rolls and Kung Pao chicken for those who may not want something super spicy or traditional. Service was friendly and attentive, and there’s plenty of free parking out front. One thing I did wish for: a drink menu. I would’ve loved a cold beer or a glass of Chardonnay while waiting for my friend.
Mains start around $18.95, so it’s on the pricier side for Chinese food—we spent about $35 per person without drinks. That said, the food and convenience make it worthwhile. I’d definitely come back to explore more of the menu, especially while I’m still walking distance. We’re moving closer to Potomac in the next couple months, so I’ll be taking full advantage of being able to pop in for a Thursday night dinner with friends while I still can.
Waitress gave a lot of attitude and got frustrated after difficulty communicating over sauces, kept badmouthing and staring, bad service, decent food. Owner saw the incident but did nothing. Very disappointed. We are not coming back I guess.
Don’t ever come here to pickup an online order. Been standing here for 1 hour now waiting for food. They prioritize customers sitting in and not customers ordering takeout.

Ordered 3 dinners for take away and all were average or below. Beef was fatty and tasted old. Chicken w mixed vegetables was disappointing. There are other better Chinese places in the area.

Service was incredible. I ordered the Crispy Duck, which I can't recommend enough. Happy to say there are no complaints. Definitely coming back!

It's been many years since we last visited Mama Wok. One day, hubby was saying he missed the shrimp rolls we used to have frequently years ago. I suggested we call and ask if they still have this dish after the restaurant changed owners. They still do! The taste was just as we remembered. We ordered the Taiwanese bee hoon too and it was delicious! Not too salty like in many other restaurants, but still packed with ingredients and flavors. Service was great too. Also managed to catch up with some old acquaintances still working there. Definitely will be back again.
