Great atmosphere and delicious food at the Matchbox in Rockville. I love their apple pear salad with salmon and brick oven pizzas, especially the matchbox meat. My server, Gustavo was very attentive and provided great service with such professionalism and welcoming manner. Overall, I enjoyed my dinning experience at Matchbox in Rockville, MD.

Our experience was mixed. At the beginning, our server, Juliana C., was very friendly, but her attitude changed as soon as she heard that my husband and I were only going to share one soda. After that, the service felt completely different.
We ordered 6 burgers, but only 3 were initially brought to our table. Meanwhile, Juliana spent about 10 minutes talking with the table next to us about personal and family matters. There’s nothing wrong with being friendly with guests, but during that time our table was completely unattended.
If we had waited for her to finish that conversation, we probably would have never received the rest of our order. Fortunately, the young man who brought our food was very kind and helped us place the order again for the other 3 burgers that were missing.
Later, we even had to interrupt her second conversation with the same table just to ask for the check and a box to take the remaining food with us.
This was our first time here. Everything started well, but it ended up being a mediocre service experience.
One important thing: many servers seem to judge their tip based on what the customer orders. In our case, we tip based on the service we receive, not on the amount of food or drinks we order. If we had relied only on Juliana’s attention, the tip would have been $0.
