Very rude and unprofessional staff. This place does not follow COVID regulations at all.Used to shop, but can not recommend the store anymore. There are more welcoming European Stores in the area.

Love, love, love this place. It’s now under new ownership, and the quality has improved dramatically. I usually come for their baked goods (cakes are amazing!!!) but leave with a bunch of yummy things I never knew I needed. LOLI love the new staff. They are friendly and efficient (definitely an improvement compared to the previous owners). They make traditional Russian salads. The salads are a bit pricey but, if you ever tried to make a traditional Russian salad, you know how much time it takes, so definitely worth it.The selection of teas is pretty remarkable (I am a big Greenfield tea fan — guess why? LOL).But for me the best part is Russian pumpernickel bread. They make it in the store. It’s to die for and very well priced.Definitely the best Russian store in the DMV.

Wow, what a cool little taste of Eastern Europe so close to home. Nice variety of Russian, Ukrainian, and Moldovan food and wine. My kids enjoy picking our their favorite Rosen candies. 5 stars

Really great service, some of the best brands around and all the things you miss. Lots Georgian things, wine, spices, sauces and even Nabeghlavi!

The store has moved to Nicholson Lane location of the former Russian gourmet store. I love the food and they have completely reinvented the selection with totally different supply chain. A lot of things they produce themselves freshly here in Rockville as opposed to getting imported from New York . Everything is licensed and legal

Just coming back after a shopping at Matreshka, very satisfied with a product's, BUT, in shock with a customer service!!!!! It was nobody at the store, but I could hear voices from the back, I call for someone to help, had some questions. A lady, named Elena, run out, NO FACE MASK, NO GLOVES!!!.When I told her that she needs to wear a mack, she told me that it is not up to me to tell her to wear a mack or not (!!!!)Than a younger woman showed up, she was a little bit nice then a 1st one, but I had a wish just to check out and run away from this place. I am from Russia myself, and feel very embarrassed for my beautiful country when people have to deal with such Elena, specially in pandemic time. Spent $100 on groceries, not sure at all that I would like to come back! !! P.S. 2 days later I received a response from the owner (please see below! !!!!), no regret, no sorry, I cannot believe what I see. I guess my next step BBB, Better Business Bureau, have no other idea to protect myself from such rudeness!!!! And macks is still mantadory in Maryland, right? I feel like I am not in United States anymore, swiching back to my favorite mail service in NY, they do overnight shipping

I bought products here during several years and strongly recommend it.Assortiment is pretty wide, such as Lithuanian bread, Russian pelmeny, and Ukrainian salo etc.Quality is high, all products are fresh.Prices are very reasonable, with many discounts … for seniors etc…Driving is convenient, just ~ a mile from 495

We purchased enough cooked food for six people, 6-7 different kinds, soups, salads, meets, rice, potatoes and just about everything was bad, maybe with the exception of soup. And by bad I mean old, spoiled food that should have never been offered. Most of the food ended up in the trash. We've purchased there before, but nothing like this! Total disregard for the quality, customer service and their reputation.

Love this store. Food is always delicious. Freshly baked bread is the best.

Well, this is an obvious one. The product is clearly Armenian, and made in Armenia, hence the Armenian writing. Yet, the store has categorized it being from Azerbaijan. Store manager was told it was wrong and insulting, but he said how can it be Armenian if it was made in Russia and that the description is staying. Besides this comment being totally ignorant of any correct geography, the product has clear, Armenian text on it, and nothing in Russian or Azeri. Change it already. Jeebus. ?

Nice store with good selection of Russian food. Neat, clean, well organised. Pelmini is my favourite. Also Russian snacks. We did have an error at purchase—charged multiple times for same item; not realised until the next day. The owner responded immediately when I called attention to it, and corrected my overcharge issue. This is good customer service follow-up. I appreciate the fast response and explanation from the owner of Matreshka. Спасибо (Thank you) to the owner. I will shop here again when I’m in the area.
