“With new ownership in place, I did not know what to expect. For a ward 8 resident and DC native, we take Sunday morning breakfast serious, and nobody wants to travel to PG, VA or cross the bridge for family breakfast. I have been to that IHOP at least 100 times, so I have seen the good and the bad times. I will say this, there is a noticeable difference in the customer care experience. From the attention to detail of the employees, the cleanliness of the restaurant (especially the bathroom), and the friendly staff, I was wholly impressed. I felt safe and ready to spend my hard earned money. I even tipped the waitress 50% because she deserved it. Hopefully the word gets out that it is a good thing to go to the Alabama Ave IHOP and the new owners keep this level of care for us the customers.“

“This is absolutely one of my favorite places to go! The Roost was my go to during the pandemic with tons of outdoor seating. Since it was in my neighborhood we frequented a lot. The staff watched my little one practically grow up there! It became our meeting place and neighborhood watering hole. Quick and efficient and some of the best food and customer service! We’ve moved from the area but always stop by when in town because it feels like home!“

“Check out "The Spot".. there's 6 restaurants inside. It's like a mini Union Market. Mostly Asian or Korean food but they do have a soul food place and a Boba/ smoothie place. There's also a bar in the center. Pool table and plenty of seating. Parking isn't an issue. There are other restaurants near by. I ate at the Korean taco spot and got a rice bowl with bulgogi. Good portion of food, priced well, and very tasty. I like the multi-restaurant buildings. It gives you the opportunity to try different places and have something salty/ savory and sweet.“

“I came in with a friend on a late Sunday afternoon to avoid the church crowd. The overall experience was pretty good. They were a bit understaffed as I believe they had only two people possibly waiting as well as working the front door. Our waitress was good at taking our order but even though she walked past our table multiple times she had only briefly looked and only stopped by near the end. The food was cooked well so no complaints there. Just wish we could have gotten some refills. Perhaps next time I would just be a bit more assertive and ask. The chicken and shrimp pasta and the fried green beans fries is a good combo though.“

“I knew there was something different about the checkers on Saint Barnabas Road. This is my third time at the location and so I had to ask what’s changed. Come to find out they have a new manager name, Mo. she is awesome. You can tell she really love her job. I finally got wings that were fully cooked. She’s very pleasant very professional. “It's hard to rate a major national chain, because so much of the experience is based on corporate practices. I will say, though, that the staff here is almost always top-notch! Their team is friendly, helpful, and engaging. They tend to also pay close attention to special requests when making your order "your way." Better than average, to be honest! It's a great location, but it's a Burger King, so you know what to expect for the most part.“

“Born and raised in southeast Texas and been here about six months. I’ve been missing Cajun food. We got the catfish poboy with fries, side of beans and rice, and New Orleans BBQ shrimp. Everything hit the mark. The bread and New Orleans shrimp tasted exactly how they should, perfect. Beans were soft and flavorful with shredded meat and sausage in there. Wish the catfish was seasoned a little more but that’s probably just my preference.

Hope to try the beignet fries if they bring them back.“
