Kyoto Japanese Steak House

For a fun time and delicious food 😋 that will be enjoyed by the entire family. You must make Kyoto Japanese steak house your next place to visit for lunch/dinner for two or the entire family. You'll be glad you did. Yummy!!!

I really like this place and have always enjoyed it. Over the years though the restaurant has declined. The restaurant was not busy at all and we waited 30 minutes to get helped. The miso soup wasn’t given to us until after the main course was served. Totally appalled to say the least.

I think this place has gone downhill. It felt dirty, and the service was very slow. I know part of the fun is catching the shrimp mid-air, but our chef threw too much food. At one point, he threw a piece of my steak, and it almost landed in my drink. It fell on the table, and then he picked it up, put it back on the grill, and served it. He burned the rice, and the vegetables lacked flavor and spices. I will say my husband loves the sushi there. But we wouldn't come back for hibachi.

A crowded Saturday evening so it took a while for us to be served. We sat at a grill so the grandkids could have the experience of seeing their meals prepared. The usual onion volcano and shrimp toss. My granddaughter wasn't feeling well, perhaps that put a damper on the evening. My grandson was VERY disappointed that cheesecake was not available.

Sushi rolls were not evenly cut. Sushi sermed more watery than it should have been. Lots of rice with the regular rolls not sure if it was to absorb some of the water. Wait staff was kind.

They can charge extra even the menu said included.
So I asked the Manager why. He said we can do it anytime we want too.

Food was ok. Managers and owners were very rude and condescending.

The menu says the meal includes onion soup, salad, 2 shrimp, oriental vegetables, steamed rice. (Kids meal includes salad and steamed rice, no soup) There is a note that fried rice can be substitute for an extra charge of $2.

We asked many questions about the menu. Typically when we go to hibachi the meat is served with rice and noodles. Sometimes I've had to choose between rice OR noodles. Since this menu and our server explained noodles are extra, fried rice is an upcharge, we settled for the white steamed rice and ordered sides of noodles.

The bill comes and they charge each person for steamed rice. When we asked why, the manager did not feel it was necessary to come tell us that there was a change, rice is no longer included, and sent our server back to point out that the menu says any change of menu and pricing can happen with no notice.

It was not right that we asked about menu items and were mislead. My family asked about the white rice, the steamed rice and the noodles. The managers and owner told us, what's the big deal over a few dollars?? He was snarky and called my father extra for going out of his way to tell our server that the boss is not right.

His sarcasm went as far as saying, "report me to the president!" Who says that?

Kid-friendliness: Servers kept trying to take food away from my kids who were not finished. Chef thought he was being playful with my kids but he did not respect when they said no to catching food in their mouth as hibachi chefs sometimes do with adult guests. Managers and owners felt it was ok to call my father names in front of my children when we pointed out they do not even follow the pricing and details on their own menu

Manager was rude and condescending. He called us names and mocked us They charged us for rice when the menu states steamed rice is included. Server came back pointing out that menu says "changes to menu and prices can occur with no notice." However we asked about these items specifically before ordering. We decided to order noodles in addition to our meal since rice was included and noodles were not. Very unethical.

I have been dining at Kyoto’s for decades and I have never left dissatisfied. The sushi chefs are creative when making new rolls-combining flavors that complement each other to perfection! The owner will custom make anything you request! All of the staff are so attentive and the sushi chefs are hilarious if you sit at the sushi bar. The hibachi fare is always delicious and the chefs always make me laugh. Will always be a forever customer!
