I found this place on line, came down there with the family to check it out, at first I was going with the reviews. I found online, but I decide to give it a shot. Good thing I did. The food was great delicious the flavor was there. The carne asada con serdo was amazing, Sabor NICA 👍💯

The chicken was just okay. The coleslaw was watery and had no flavor. The “salchipapa” was honestly horrible because the oil was burnt and overused. The “gallo pinto” was just plain white rice and plain beans with no seasoning at all it tasted nothing like “gallo pinto” .
Not worth it at all

No frienly or cordial at All with the customers.
I ask for the very most regular food like pork in the Grill with
Fry plantain with rice and Beans .
It too long to service the meal
Even no many people were inside the restaurant.
Finally we got our food with Attitude.
And them the pork meat
Puro pellego.
It seems like they didn't have enough time to clean the meet before cook.
Very disappointed i confident
100% that never will spend my hard earned money in this place ever Again.
Please be Aware.

Finding a Nicaraguan restaurant is really hard, so I'm glad the first one I went to after coming back from Nicaragua was Gio's. Now I don't have to worry about finding another one.
The owner, Santos, is a great guy, very friendly and accommodating. The menu is varied and still serves chicken, only now it it Nicaraguan style.
This is a great place to try if you want a twist on Hispanic food you've never had before.

The Nicaraguan presence in the DMV is low, so I do not access my people’s food unless I visit my family in Miami. Anyway, that carne asada was bomb. LOTS of maduro which I loved. It was filling and delicious and I was just happy to be there. The food was just right. I will be going there again very soon.

I am Nicaraguan born and raised and I know how difficult it can be to find all the ingredients to get these meals right. So, I will give them so much grace in this aspect because they still make it work. My complain is that the food sometimes inconsistent, and once I placed an order with UberEats, they were out of the drinks I ordered and they only partially refunded them. I placed a complaint through UberEats because I cannot understand the rationale for not refunding my 5 full drinks, that was entitlement behavior.

I live in DC and grew up in Nicaragua. This is the best Nicaraguan food I’ve found in the DMV.
