The acoustics of Java Nation at the Silver Spring location are not conducive to conversation. Food was good not great. Service was good but it could have used more staff.
I loved the variety in the food options, the pastries and margaritas flights were a hit. The ambience is very nice, clean and comfortable. Bonus points for free parking garage next to it on the weekends. Service was hectic, we had 2 different waiters and almost 3 because we told the third one the order was taken already, he thought we were not helped yet. So a few hiccups to fix, but definitely will be back to try their coffees.
The food was not good! The breakfast sandwich was the worst I have ever had at a restaurant. The service and setting are lovely though!
Our waitress misunderstood that we wanted to order food so we had to wait a bit. The salad was good but I left a little hungry—I should have ordered a protein add-on or bread...
My friend and I had a brunch reservation for 11:30 and waited about 10+ minutes for a table. The waiter was great, and we enjoyed the food. About 45 minutes into the meal we finished eating and waited for after-meal tea. While we waited for the drinks the manager came up to us and asked us to leave so she could give the table to waiting customers. We told her that we were there for less than an hour, and assumed that we would have more time there. She was adamant that this was their policy and that we could sit at the bar. Being hearing impaired, I would not have been able to hear the other 2 people I was with at the bar, one of whom drove all the way from VA to meet us at there. Needless to say, we were appalled and will not go back there again.
Food was great and the staff were very nice. However, the loud, bass-heavy club music and the lack of any sound absorption made our brunch kind of unpleasant. I would go back, but only during weekday off-peak hours.
The food is great, nice place - however it is way too small to have amplified music. In an hour an a half I am completely hoarse trying to talk to my friends. And we sat as far away as we could. They were good, but the music should not overpower everything!
Met friends for brunch at Java Nation, where we enjoyed a nice variety of menu items (would like to see a few more vegetarian options, however). Our server was lovely and attentive, and was willing to sub crab for smoked salmon on my benedict. It was perfectly cooked and delish. Cocktails were innovative and tasty. It was a little loud, but that just means that it was filled with others who have discovered what a gem this restaurant is. Reasonably priced and ample parking across the street.
Loud music and raised voices mean it can be hard to hear. Food is good and service is excellent. .
Love this place! Friday and Saturday evenings can get a bit loud with live music, but this is a clean place with great service and a menu with something for everyone!

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. It was busy but not overbearingly loud. Service was slow, no one took our order so we had to flag them down, but everyone was pleasant. My husband really liked his turkey blt w/ truffle fries. I loved the harvest fattoush w/ salmon and the yogurt parfait was delicious.
Food was ok, nothing spectacular. Our table was rushed out as soon as we paid. Didn't really appreciate that.
We were branching for 5 family members before the AFI movies. Everyone enjoyed their meals and coffee and cocktails. It's a hard group to please sometimes but we were all happy, happy! Service was great as was the food.
So good. Great bunch and great cocktails. We are looking forward to checking the live music and happy hour
Pros: the food was mostly good, and the menu had good options. Cons: our service was awful (slow, and the apps all came out with the entrees), my chicken was overcooked, and the mashed potatoes were cold.
