While the ambiance at Kaldi Social House is undeniably nice—chill vibes, trendy decor—it’s unfortunate that the service doesn’t match the setting. I've visited twice now, and each time the staff has been shockingly rude. It’s clear that the baristas don’t seem to care about customer service. Both times, they were more focused on listening to music through their headphones than on helping customers.
Today, when I ordered two drinks and simply asked which was which, the barista acted like I was being an inconvenience. A basic question, and I was met with a visibly annoyed attitude. This type of overt rudeness is unacceptable, especially when it’s consistent across multiple visits.
A café’s atmosphere is important, but so is the quality of service. Unfortunately, Kaldi Social House misses the mark on the latter. Not impressed at all, and it’s a shame because the place itself has potential. But with staff that seems like they don’t even want to be there, it’s hard to enjoy the experience.

No food is good enough to excuse the apathetic server attitudes and inability to correctly state an order.
Group of 4, two ordered the same thing except one ordered Gluten Free. A severe glutton allergy. So when the server brings over the waffles and is asked if they are glutton free, the server says "Yes". We decide to wait because it doesn't seem correct. Sure enough another waffle order comes to the table and we demand they tell us which is glutton free. The new ones were.
Seriously? This isn't a preference for our friend. Glad we waited or she would have been suffering for days.
There are no real servers, no water or water refills, no one to flag for extra napkins or replacement silverware. Get your own to go containers, not a problem, but no one tells you and it isn't obvious.
If you scan to access the menu, you have the opportunity to put some basic info there. Online menu and scanned menu do not match.

As soon as we walked in, the atmosphere felt calm and welcoming. The staff greeted us promptly, and we appreciated the option to choose our own tables.
Being able to order from our phones was a convenient touch. The portion sizes were generous for the price, and we both enjoyed customizing our meals to suit our tastes. Overall, it was a great experience!

I like taking a working lunch here or popping in for a coffee on the weekend. It gives bustling work cafe vibes and the drinks are always on point.

Saw this place rated 4.5 stars. Geez, walked in all the servers looked away no attempt at greeting. It’s a weird order system. You have to use your phone. Sign says seat yourself so I sat at large empty rather dirty counter (lone pair salt and pepper both prectically empty!). A sleepy young girl behind the counter wandered over and fiddled with some paper napkins didn’t greet me or asked me if I needed help. Finally, I said do you have a menu? “No”can I order here “no”. Go to Zed’s around the corner. Young couple friendly and they desrve you biz!
Before ordering I made sure to ask the cashier if the chicken breast that came on the waffles was a whole chicken breast or was it cut up into strips.and the cashier told me that it was a whole chicken breast. I got in my car to find out it was cut up chicken breast which I didn't want. With that being said the chicken was not seasoned but the waffles was nice and fluffy. Maybe the cashier misunderstood my question but I was highly disappointed and will not be ordering this again.

I’ve done both dine in and more recently take out, and let me just say Kaldis is a hit every time! We got their ultimate breakfast sandwich and waffles with seasonal fruit this time around - overall is was 9.5/10 and very filling! Didn’t get a chance to take a pic of the waffles :(

Best coffee shop in Silver Spring. I visit a few times whenever I’m in town. Recommend Latte or Cortado depending on how much milk you want. Breakfasts are very good and I especially like the coffee cake and scones.
Parking: Always find a spot on the street.

Possibly best cup of coffee I've ever had each time I've been there! Nice atmosphere and friendly staff too.
Shakshuk had good flavor but was really runny. Breakfast sandwich with Aioli was spot on. Nice atmosphere, staff could be friendlier.
