Not as expected!
Mofongo with fish, fish was too hard kind of rubbery type, maybe over cook.
The Mofongo in both dishes was also too hard, should be little bit more soft, it was like rocky.
It's the only restaurant that we know of without going to DC that's easy to get to when my mom gets the craving for her Puerto Rican food.

A full-on family feast at La Casa del Mofongo in Silver Spring! From mashed plantains and crispy pork to bacalao and trifongo that tasted like it was blessed by the Caribbean gods—every bite was pure comfort.
Washed it all down with passion fruit juice, Puerto Rican Malta India (yes, India—not Polar or Goya 👏), and an ice-cold Presidente.
We wrapped it up with cheese flan and tres leches to-go (because dessert deserves its own encore).
Delicioso doesn’t even begin to cover it. 😋 If you’re craving sabor, soul, and serious portions—this spot delivers.

I decided to check this restaurant out after reading a review in the latest edition of the Washingtonian Magazine. I always like to check out a restaurant before I decide to bring my date to the restaurant to make sure the food is fantastic. This is the second time I have had food from a Dominican restaurant in the Washington DC area. I decided to have some Dominican goat stew, plantains, and three milk cake for dessert, and I have to admit the food was fantastic. You will not be disappointed with this restaurant when it comes to the food selection. The only two issues I have are the language barrier because most of the employees speak Spanish and very little English. Understanding what is on the menu can be a problem if you don't speak Spanish. The other issue I have is the atmosphere. I did not care too much for it because it's very dark with loud Dominican music playing. It felt more like a restaurant / bar / dance hall than just a restaurant. The atmosphere is not like a four - or five star restaurant. It's like a two star restaurant with a Dominican dance hall vibe. If you only care about having excellent food and not about the atmosphere, then you will love this place and, most importantly, your date will love you for taking her to an outstanding place to eat! Oh, and one more thing. The people working at the restaurant are super friendly and kind, just like most Dominicans I have come across.

I would normally not stop here, but I came with friends on their recommendation. For a hole in the wall kind of place - the outside of the building looks a bit run down - this restaurant has great food. Try the ox tail - ¡delicioso!

This food was so salty that it was impossible to eat. We ordered 5 different dishes and all except a sancocho was pure salt. Please cut the salt for all your foods or you will end up closing. I personally will not eat here again.
Excellent food! Fresh and big portions! I have the mofongo with shrimp and coconut milk! Absolutely delicious.
Food was exactly what we were expecting. It was delicious. The alcupurias de yuca were good but de guneao were phenomenal. Tostones with the garlic sauce were perfect. The star of the show, and the reason we visited, was the mangu de 3 gulpes was amazing. Exactly what we’re hoping for. Definitely would go again if we are in the area. Server was very nice and friendly as well. Prices were higher than we’d expect but no complaints because the food was great.
Excellent food, I loved it, I recommend it 100% and the waitress was excellent, her name Liz ?

I tried this restaurant out with a coworker during the week. The food was good and the service was also good. It is worth a try. My friend enjoyed her breakfast plate. The oxtails were flavorful. The empanadas were authentic.
