My sister and I enjoyed a wonderful authentic meal at Melekete Restaurant. The waitresses were very friendly with beautiful smiles and they helped us pronounce the names of the entrees. The atmosphere was very cozy and the light jazz complements the setting. At the end of the dinner, we were both surprised when the waitress brought a complimentary slice of strawberry shortcake for my sister and then the whole restaurant lit up with the “Happy Birthday to Ya” song by Stevie Wonder. It was an unforgettable evening. Thank you for a job well done, Melekete Restaurant! We will come back to see you soon!

Got the veggie combo with injera bread, and sambusas with chicken stuffing for an appetizer. Enjoyed it all, esp. the sambusas. Celebrated my daughter's birthday, and they provided a generous piece of cake with a candle on top, and 3 staffers sang happy birthday to her. At 2 pm on a weekday, we were almost the only customers.Parking: Free parking is limited. Across the street is a metered lot.

This is a hidden gem in Silver Spring. Had a great team lunch with my office. Food was good and fresh. We had a group of 16 and were seated and served in about an hour. Everyone enjoyed the Sambusa the Timatim Fitfit. The service was wonderful. We will be backVegetarian options: Food was fresh and had vibrant colors. Absolutely delicious! Tastes like you are eating in someone's home and their mom cooked for you! We got the veg sampler. Tastes better than comparable dish at well known Ethiopian restaurants in silver spring, adams morgan, and shaw. Definitely made with love.
