A great store with great products

If I could give this location no stars, I would. Their staff is rude, the shelves are never stocked, and the over all set up of the store is horrible. I actually drive an extra 20 minutes out of my way to go to a different location now because this one is just an awful excuse of a location for a billion dollar chain corporation.

Update: The escalators have been down for about 2 weeks at this point. You're lucky if the elevator actually takes you up to the store level or if get to play Russian roulette and stay on ground level until you give up and ultimately walk back to your car and go to Giant. Oh and have no fear, the shelves are still never stocked. God forbid you need milk or eggs for the kids because that was certainly empty tonight. But don't worry, the staff had time to stand around and chat.

I'm leaving this review because it's supposed to be a review of the overall store and they are sometimes out of regular products, have sold expired goods, and not everyone is polite.

However, the main purpose of this review is to offer my highest praises for the entire pharmacy team! They are kind, efficient, helpful, and all around amazing.

My second piece of praise is for Kadir B, the young gentleman who brings grocery orders out to the cars. He's quick, professional, and always brightens our day. Thank you!

Safeway at wheaton is a really nice place . I enjoy going there though they are extremely expensive ,and extremely extremely understaffed. The employees ARE Friendly helpful and sociable as well.thats what keeps me coming back.

The management Is horrible, I can't not recall the rude lady's name however she is by far the WORST maybe you should screen more thoroughly before you allow such people with lack of customer service skills to be the face of your brand! You just lost a customer!!!!!

I've been shopping at this place for more than a year and a half, usually only when it has something that is not available at LIDL, ALDI, Giant or H-Mart. The store is drastically understaffed, particularly in the evenings (when the cashiers abandon their jobs 5-10 minutes BEFORE closing), and most staff they do have is dumb as a brick. Safeway also is overpriced. Overall, the experience is appalling. Giant, in contrast, has more reasonable prices and is very well staffed. For most of my life, Safeway stores around the USA ran like Swiss clocks and now they're like digital watches missing their batteries.

Absolutely disgusting store no matter when I have went in the staff are either fighting with customers or each other and management could care less. I have seen products dated from months one time a year back and no one cared. I showed them this bread in the picture and they showed little to no interest pretty sure they have mice so please check ur bread before buying if you trust them that is. The bathroom thing is a joke because why look it up when people are still either smoking, doing drugs, stealing, or worse destroying it. But of corse no baby changing station or trash can for pads. Oh and the constant closing of the bakery and deli are insane I mean how is that okay. I understand it's hard times but I know there are plenty of people looking for work on a daily bases. Honestly I rather go to another county than to come back here. Don't go in not unless you want to get sick or annoyed.

I had an outstanding experience with Kadir, a customer service representative at Safeway, while working as an Uber grocery driver. On my first visit to the store, Kadir was incredibly patient, guiding me through the process with kindness and expertise. His helpfulness made my task much easier, and his professionalism left a lasting impression. Safeway is fortunate to have someone like Kadir, and I appreciate his exceptional service. There should be more employees like him in the store!

The truth is I had a bad experience with a lady, say the manager of the place, she is a Panamanian lady, if I'm not mistaken, she is an arrogant person who treats people badly just because of the position she has, bad service.
They should improve the personnel for that position.

The number of times I've gone to this Safeway and they were out of product is pathetic. Entire bakery empty of baked goods, for example.

I live right upstairs but shop at Giant instead now.

While it is conveniently located and has a solid selection of items, the scan analyst at this particular store is bad. Almost every time I'm there, items ring up significantly higher than they were listed for on the rack and tags for sale specials hang up way longer than the sales last. It's almost deceptive. Add to that, most coupons require you to download the Safeway app and select all of the items you'd like discounts on, rather than just applying the sales to the items in-store. Plus the app lags in applying the discounts so even if you select a coupon in the app while shopping, it will not be applied to the final sale. Plus, the cost per item often is more than the Giant just around the block. I only come here because it's right at the train station and within walking distance.
