This is the worst Thai place I have ever eaten. First of all, on every table there is a disclaimer saying that they will not exchange or replace any foods that you don’t like. My dish cost me $26.95 and my lamb and potatoes were not cooked. It was hard. The curry sauce was very salty. Eat at your own risk!!!

We ordered the drunken noodles with tofu, healthy (summer) rolls, and chicken pad Thai—all gluten-free—and everything was delicious. The service was excellent. A bit pricey, but absolutely worth it—we were still talking about how good the meal was long after we left!

For years, Thai at Silver Spring was our favorite. It was once a lovely, well appointed and very pleasant place, but it has declined, and I think probably changed hands in the past few years. We continue to eat there occasionally because most of the food is still pretty good. They stopped making many of my favorites, like the shrimp cake appetizers. We ate there this past weekend, and it was good. My husband had the Jungle Lovers (superb veggie dish) and I had the Red Thai shrimp curry, also very good. We shared a lovely little dessert cake, a small chocolate molten type, can't recall the name...but all the food was good. The waitstaff were polite and adequate. A large party came in while we were there, so they were a bit busy. I'm sorry to see this restaurant in decline and wish they could restore it. It isn't as good as it once was in terms of food or decor, but I encourage folks to give it a chance. Maybe more patronage would help them to make a comeback. There is a new chef, so maybe with our help, they can bring it back. Also, there is no longer a liquor license, so no cocktails. I still recommend it.

My husband and I have been coming here for years, and always enjoyed the food, the relaxed atmosphere, the prompt service, and the catchy but chill Thai pop music they played. They changed ownership a few months ago, and unfortunately, other things have changed too. The new staff is friendly enough, but the service has become much slower. They play generic American pop now, which takes away from the experience, for me. The food is still good, if a little less spicy/flavorful than before. The portions also seem smaller. All in all, not a deal breaker, but I do miss the way it used to be!

I usually order takeout from here and haven’t eaten inside, but every time I pick up, the staff is always polite and friendly. My go-to orders are the shrimp fried rice and the mango sticky rice. The food is generally consistent and tastes good, but lately I’ve noticed issues with portion sizes, pricing, and consistency.

The shrimp fried rice is $22, which feels high for the portion given. The mango sticky rice is $12 and used to come with about half a mango, but recently I’ve only been getting about a fourth. On one occasion, the sticky rice was overly salty.

Today’s mango sticky rice: it didn’t taste fresh, the rice was dry, and the color looked yellow/greenish instead of how it normally looks. On top of that, they’ve started adding a decorative piece of chocolate to the dish. Personally, I don’t think it fits and I feel portion size and extras like this should be communicated ahead of time or optional.

Altogether, my order usually comes to $30+, which is steep considering the portion sizes and occasional inconsistency. The food is still good overall, but for the price, I expect fresher quality, consistent portions, and the ability to decline decorations I didn’t ask for because in my opinion it ruins the dish.

Host greeted us in and walked us to our table and then brought water right away. There was a little wait for the server to come and take our order but that’s no biggie, just a pet peeve of mine when servers take more than 5 minutes when the whole restaurant is practically empty. Food was amazing, I ordered cry baby noodles. Will come back again.

I recently ordered from here and the food was terrible, If I could give it 0 stars i would. I spent over $100 on my order and the initial wait time for delivery was stated to be 100 minutes, which I was fine with, but the food arrived even later than expected. When it finally came, everything was thrown together in a bag, with soup and other items leaking, and the food was cold, clearly having sat out for a while.

Unfortunately, every dish we ordered had issues: potatoes were undercooked and starchy, the curry was watery instead of thick, and everything that should have been crispy or cold was soggy and lukewarm. The curry had very little meat and vegetables in it (was mainly broth). Overall, it was a really disappointing experience, and none of the items were enjoyable. I would not recommend at all. Don't order from here!!

Atmosphere was great.
Food was good. The thai curry and pineapple fried rice were good and tasty. The apetizer was not good, especially the calamari felt like it was done hurriedly with lot of flour.

Thai at Silver Spring is a decent Thai restaurant in downtown Silver Spring. The menu is extensive, and they have a lot of traditional Thai dishes, as well as a mix of not so traditional dishes for those with less sophisticated palates. I ordered the traditional Thai dish of “basil chicken” or “ka pow.” They have two version on the menu, one is the traditional Thai way of diced meat, and the other version is sliced for people who do not want minced chicken. Anyway, the basil chicken wasn’t bad, the portion was generous, maybe too generous, but the flavor was too sweet – and trust me on this, I lived in Thailand and know how this dish should taste. My partner’s dish was not a traditional Thai dish, also a huge portion, so at least you are getting a lot for your money. The papaya salad wasn’t bad, not the best, but I could eat it again. They also have an extensive alcohol menu, but PLOT TWIST, they do not currently have an alcohol license so not sure why they even handout the drink menu. In summary, not a bad place if you really have an itch for Thai food, but the Thai restaurants in Virginia are much better and more authentic. 3/5
